I thought I was through buying doll bikes, but a trip to Hobby Lobby over a week ago, had me desiring at least one more bike.....the pink one with the basket. I waited a week to see if it would go on sale for 50% the following week. Yes, it did. That prompted me to buy the little red bike, too. I bought the tandem Barbie bike set the same day at the nearby Walmart. The clearance price of $15, still had me on the fence, but I will be able to use both the bodies for other dolls. Hopefully this summer I will be able to finally get the bike story underway.
These bikes were found in Hobby Lobby near the Route 66 items, that are normally near the picture frames. They retail for $15.99, but they are made of metal, and the metals go on 50% off sale quite frequently.
The pedals rotate freely. It has a permanent stand on the back wheel that could be removed with some pliers. I'm going to keep it in place.
This red bike reminds me of the bikes of my childhood. This will be given to some little boy here in town.
This may become Nikaya's bike. The handles are a little low for her, so I'm going to have to fit that.
Nicole is demoing this bike for me. This bike is too cool for school.
Side Note: I'm working on two large orders from my Etsy store, which is why I haven't been around as much. Things should return to normal in about two weeks.
Those bikes are so cool!!!! I am amazed at what they make for dolls.
ReplyDeleteapril - I don't think these were made for dolls. They were just made for memorabilia of a particular era. Luckily, they are suitable for some of the dolls.
DeleteThese are nice bikes.
ReplyDeleteJanainah - I love finding vintage looking items that work for the dolls.
DeleteWow, those are cute! I hope I can find atleast one of them.
ReplyDeleteBrini - Good luck finding them. Mine were found on an end cap on the very bottom shelf. Look high and low. You never know where things end up in Hobby Lobby. Part of the fun of shopping there. Sometimes it's like a treasure hunt.
DeleteI've been looking at those Hobby Lobby bikes too. Love them!
ReplyDeleteTam - So glad they are at other Hobby Lobbys. Sometimes you never know.
DeleteI love the bikes you got from Hobby Lobby. I had ones similar to them growing up too!
ReplyDeleteChris - A walk, or shall I say, ride, down memory lane.
DeleteI always wondered if those Hobby Lobby bikes would handle a doll. It's been years since I've been to HL, but I'd swear the bikes I've seen there would better fit 16 inch dolls.
ReplyDeleteMuff - Years since HL....wow. I don't go very much these days. I haven't seen the larger bikes, but I will keep my eyes open.
DeleteThose bikes look like a lot of fun. Hope you get your orders done soon so we can have more stories. (Aren't we selfish?)
ReplyDeleteCarrickters - Orders are coming along. I may be able to squeeze a story in soon.
DeleteHello My Dear
ReplyDeleteYour bikes are fabo. I too have been gathering bikes for awhile so I can do a story this summe. Thanks for the 411 because I was having trouble finding kid-sized bikes. I believe a new Hobby Lobby just opened in NJ so I'll check it out. Stay busy. Blessings
Brenova - Great minds think alike. I found the cutest bikes for the Kelly sized dolls from Amazon. Search "Toy Evi Love first bike" on Amazon.
DeleteYou know it!!! Thanks Lovee
DeleteHello from Spain: I love your collection of bicycles. My favorite is the red. They look real. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteMarta - Thanks. I remember quite well the bike story you did a couple years ago.
DeleteHey I love your stories and everything u do x I've got to make a decision on whether my Sylvanian should have a boy or girl, I've made loads of boy stuff but I'm considering for it to have a girl please help xx
ReplyDeleteSylvanians - I responded to the last request about boy or girl. I suggested twins, so you can enjoy both and you can make some cute girl things.
DeleteOk thanks very much x have u go any tips to making girl clothes because it seems that every time I try making a girl baby grow it gows wrong xx
DeleteSylvanian - My only suggestion is to keep trying. I have the same issue with the little clothes, but every time I make something, it's gets better each time.
DeleteI must make a HL run soon! The closest one to us is about 45 minutes away, so I don't go very often. I will definitely get some of they cute bikes when I do go! Growing up,my father would pick up parts from various bikes he found here and there (like at the junkyard) and put them together to make "hybrid" bikes for us. He was pretty resourceful that way! He "made" a bike with a banana seat for my younger brother and this made me think of that!
ReplyDeletePhyllis - 45 mins? Wow. I surely hope you are able to find those bikes when you go. The banana seat bikes were so popular back then. I remember riding one, but I don't remember if it was mine or not.
DeleteHello! I love your new bikes, specially the red one. My barbies has not bike, but I would like to include some in my collection. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteSourisa - Thanks and welcome to my blog. I hope you are able to find some nice bikes for your collection.
DeleteWhaaat? Those bikes are so awesome! Nikayla looks especially pleased to have a cool bike.
ReplyDeletePresto - You know we doll people can spot the coolest things that aren't necessarily meant for our dolls.
DeleteBonjour Vanessa,
ReplyDeleteThe bikes are very nice. I like the color.
Shasarignis - Bonjour, mon amie. Je suis heureux que tu aimes les motos.
DeleteHello there! A few months ago I found a tutorial of how to make a doll bike with straws. If I find it again I'll let you know
ReplyDeletemonstercrafts - Straw bikes? That sounds very interesting. Would love to see what they look like.
DeleteHi i love your stories why did you stop making videos
ReplyDeleteJaiden - Hello and thanks for visiting my blog. I stopped making videos because of my limited time. I'm so busy with other projects, that I just don't have the time needed to focus on videos. I may get back to it one day.
