Yesterday, I took a trip to Ikea. I was anxious to see the new 1:8th (ish) scale furniture sets. When I got there the set was the first thing on display as I entered the showroom. It features a sofa, a shelf unit, a chair, a side table, a rug, a heart pillow, and a few cardboard cutouts. I had to wait until I got to the kids area to see if they were still in stock. When I finally reached the kid's section, an hour or so later, I could see from a distance, there weren't many sets left. I had a mini panic attack feeling like someone would rush over and take them all before I got there. Once I got there, I breathed a sigh of relief, and put two in my bag. They are $12.99 and so worth it. I knew before buying them, they weren't 1:6 scale, so I had planned to use it for one of my kids.
This is a mock bedroom just to show parts of the set. The bed is from the Gloria playset. I didn't get a chance to paint it yet, but it works perfectly in the room, as is. The sofa, the shelf, the green table, the red heart pillow, and the black and white rug are part of the set. The rug doesn't really work here, but since it's part of the set, I'm showing it.
Ironically enough, I bought the bed fabric to do Nicole's room over a year ago. The colors coordinate perfectly with the Ikea set. This will be her bedroom at her mother's house. She will get a different rug, and lots of decorations.
Nicole enjoying her cute little sofa and heart pillow.
Looky, looky, there's Melanie. Been awhile since we've seen here.
I guess she and Nicole are catching up after the camping trip.
Another piece that came with the set was the yellow chair. Here's the room configured a little differently.
That shelf unit has amazing possibilities. It can be used in the bathroom for towels, the kitchen for dishes, etc., etc.
Like I said, I got two sets. I didn't want to get home and wish I had bought two.
I wanted to show the sofa without the cover. This could be painted a different color. I imagine the cover could be dyed a different color. I will be experimenting with my second sofa.
So we are quite pleased with these new sets and Nicole is looking forward to helping to decorate her new space.
Nice room, I love the bed fabric! I'm lokkng forward to go to ikea to buy one of these sets for my dolls!
ReplyDeletecyborgdoll - Thanks. I hope you are able to get your hands on a set or two.
DeleteOh that looks neat. Nicole looks like she belongs in a room like that. Bright and cheerful. Love the photos with Melanie - she's got a fab hair cut that suits her personality. Sharp ;-)
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the Philly IKEA has this set, now? I would like it for Grandma Walton. She's eight inches tall so the scale should fit her.
D7ana - I always pictured Nicole with a bright room. The set seems to be available all over, so chances are it's in Philly, too. Nicole is 9 ins, so sounds like it would be perfect for Grandma Walton. You just can't be 12.99.
Deleteis Ikea a new store? I've never heard of it before.
ReplyDeleteLeandra - No, Ikea is not a new store, but there are only about 100 of them worldwide, 37 in the states.
Deletethanks for telling me, are their any in arkansas? and what were the sets called?
DeleteLeandra - The only name on the set is Huset. There aren't any Ikeas located in Arkansas. Just search Ikea locations on the web and you will see where the stores are.
DeleteGood to see a second review on this set, definitely has my attention. Nicole's room is darling. I'd better make it to Ikea soon.
ReplyDeleteTracy - You will be impressed with the quality of this set. It's very well made.
DeleteGreat minds must think alike! I was wondering if they sold it in the Philly stores too! I will have to check It looks so cute! I like Nicole's room.
ReplyDeleteMs. Leo - Just go soon. I couldn't believe just how few sets were left here in Atlanta. I'm sure they will probably restock, but I couldn't take that chance.
DeleteQue buena compra. Seguro la utluzaras y sacaras el mayor provecho.
ReplyDeletelindaivette - Es una muy buena compra y está muy bien hecho.
DeleteI love this set! to bad there isnt an Ikea store around me because i wouold definately be broke! Its really nice to see melanie again too! :)
ReplyDeletewilliam - I think you would love it even more in person. I know I did.
DeleteNice set. There are 3 IKEA stores in Moscow, it's a well-known store in Russia. Unfortunately I don't have free space to make rooms for my dolls, but maybe I'll go to IKEA, when I'm near it. It will be interesting just to look and to check if Russian IKEA stores have it also.
ReplyDeleteDukasha - It's great to hear that Moscow has an Ikea. Hopefully you will be able to see this set in person.
DeleteHello Vanessa, Nicole´s room is perfect with the new set, really nice.
ReplyDeleteSee you soon!
Hello Ana. Thanks. Nicole is so happy to FINALLY have her room started. She's been waiting quite some time.
DeleteI tried to find this online but I must not be naming it right. I don't think I'll be getting this because a 2.5 hour drive to Orlando is toooo far. It does seem worth the price. I especially like the bookcase.
ReplyDeleteMuff - I just went and looked online. It doesn't appear to be there right now. Maybe they will add it later. It's really great quality stuff. The plastic used is heavy duty.
DeleteI really love this set, especially the shelves. I think I see a trip to Ikea in my future since there's one fairly close to me. That really is a fantastic price.
ReplyDeleteAlura - You will love the shelves even more once you get your set. The shelf alone, is worth the $12.99.
DeleteNice set Vanessa. You're so fortunate to live near an IKEA store. We pass one, I think near Richmond, when we drive to New York. Haven't quite talked the hubby into stopping....but I won't give up trying either.
ReplyDeleteDebbie - You've never been to an Ikea? It's such a treat. Before they put one here in Atlanta, several years ago, I had visited the one in Baltimore on several occasions. It was like a mini vacation. Plan to stay a few hours when you go.
DeleteYup, you're right....Baltimore. I'll just have to make sure it's my shift to drive and we'll stop there for sure. lol Thanks for sharing and for informing us about the little IKEA items. You're a doll!
DeleteThese are perfect for Neemos... I must get these... must geeeeet....
ReplyDeleteThe room looks awesome, btw :)
Heather - Your Neemos will love this set and it's probably the perfect size for them.
DeleteSo cute! Just right for Nicole. I have a feeling they may end up looking very different once you really get your hands on them. LOL
ReplyDeleteGrandmommy - Nicole is so happy. One set will stay as is. The only thing I may experiment with, is the second sofa and the second table.
DeleteHello from Spain: I see that you create a room with furniture. Great proposal. I also love the furniture .. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteMarta - As you know, this is a really great set. I'm glad you were able to add it to your collection.
DeleteOh, Vanessa, I can't believe this! IKEA furnitures!! I LOVE them and WANT them so much!!! I am really curious because I didn't find any informations about this set in our IKEA yet :( I will be really sad if it wont't be available here...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful photos!!
Rosemary Hill - It's very nice. I really hope it shows up at your Ikea. Maybe you should call and ask their help department.
DeleteIn Spain also sell it and I can not wait to buy it, but the nearest Ikea is an hour and a half from my house ...you have left the room great for kids!
ReplyDeleteFairbield - Good to hear you have an Ikea relatively close by. It's really a nice set and well worth it.
DeleteI have been waiting for IKEA to make something like this. I only have one about 2 hours away from me, but coincidentally I had a trip planned to go there next Friday! Your post was perfect timing, I would never have found this. I do 1:6th scale, but am buying two sets. I think I can make the pieces work. Would you mind telling me how far the shelf goes (when vertical) on a Barbies body?
ReplyDeleteConnor - That's great news. The shelf comes just below Barbie's waist. There's a lot you are going to be able to do with this little shelf.
DeleteI'm getting grumpy - you are all doing such great things with that Ikea set. I've checked the Australian Ikea website but it isn't listed there so I'm not sure that it is actually here yet. Of course, it is the end of the financial year here so stores often don't add new stock for another month or so. Alternatively I may have to go to an Ikea store but our nearest store is over an hour's drive away (in fact, there are only two in our state) so we'll see.
ReplyDeleteCarrickters - I don't think they are listing the set on the website. It's not on our store's website either. I think you will have to go to the store. Why not call them and find out if they have it in stock before you make the drive. A trip to IKEA is always worth the drive to me. There is so much inspiration in that store.
DeleteYour near panic attack at the near empty shelves had me chortling. (I identify! lol) Glad you got your hands on a couple of set. You've made perfect use of them and dealt really well with the size issue. I don't have kiddies so will continue to modify the sofas to raise them. Happy playing!
ReplyDeleteRoville - I couldn't believe there were so few sets left. I would have been heart broken if they had been sold out. Your Ikea room was sheer perfection as is all the rooms you put together.
DeleteBy the way, the set isn't supposed to come out until August, that's why it isn't on the website yet! It should be up at the beginning of the month probably.
ReplyDeleteConnor - Thanks for the additional info.
DeleteNice set. It works well for Nicole. Good for you to have purchased two.
ReplyDeleteI have never been in an Ikea store and probably never will.
dbg
DBG - There is an Ikea in Dallas and one in Houston. It's a nice experience. I think I could go once a week and still enjoy it.
DeleteDBG - You just reminded me, I need to go back and get those $19 curtains for my bedroom. Thanks!
