Dasia loves spending quality time with her granddaughter, Carla. Today they are starting at the nail salon before heading out to lunch. Dasia is sporting her new white button down shirt and jeans.
Her white button down (which only looks lopsided because of her handbag) will be available soon.
It's my first time doing a collared blouse with a back yoke.
"So what will are we doing today?" (manicurist)
"She's just going to have a basic manicure with a little color." (Dasia)
"Grammy, can I get purple polish?" (Carla)
"Purple polish? I don't know, honey. I'm not sure your mom will be okay with that." (Dasia)
"She will She lets me get different colors all the time." (Carla)
Dasia reluctantly agrees and hopes for the best.
"Hello Mrs. Reed. What are we doing today?" (manicurist)
"Hi, darlin'. I think I want french tips today." (Dasia)
Grammy and granddaughter settle in to enjoy their manicures.
I shot these pictures this morning and when I went on Facebook to post a picture of Dasia there, the picture below was on my FB homepoage. It was posted yesterday. It is a picture of my stepgranddaughter, Carmen, getting a manicure at the salon. I couldn't believe it! What a coincidence.
Little Carmen getting her nails done.
That's so cool - your dolls having a place to get their "nails" done. I like seeing Dasia and family, too.
ReplyDeleteD7ana - - Thanks. Mani-pedis are essential for the ladies here.
DeleteCute story and what a coincidence that the real Carmen had a similar experience as Dasia's granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteThe shirt is nice. It always amazes me to see clothing sewn without the use of patterns. Even when the patterns are created by the seamstress, I am equally impressed. It all takes skill. Great job!

DBG - Thanks. I am learning so much drafting patterns. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm having fun.
DeleteGreat shirt! I have been thinking about redoing a Ken shirt so that it would button on the right side for her. Glad that you made her one. Cute story.
ReplyDeleteMs. Leo - Thanks! I have been wanting to make a collared button down for awhile. This was supposed to have cuffs. Next time.
DeleteThe shirt is really nice. Cute story. Do you use a machine to sew or had sew? I ask because I can make pants, skirts and shorts all day with the machine, But I seem to need to sew by hand for the shirts. The collar and sleeve hemming and sleeve to shirt connections seem to need a more hands on approach. But if you are using the machine, well, you have it mastered, which is awesome!
ReplyDeleteJanainah - Thanks. The majority of what I do is machine sewn. On this shirt, the only thing I sewed by hand was attaching the inner collar to the bodice. I've been studying different professional's techniques, and there always seems to be a little hand sewing involved.
DeleteCute story, lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteLinda - Thanks for visiting my blog. I just signed up to follow your blog. I'm getting ready to go try that cellulite burning hot chocolate this morning.
DeleteDasia and her granddaughter are so cute! This was an adorable story, nothing like girls day with grandma. I love that clean crisp button down white shirt on her.
ReplyDeleteAG Lanc - Thanks! I always enjoy time out with my granddaughter(s).
DeleteI love this scenes. Dasia looks great:)
ReplyDeleteNatalia - Thanks.
DeleteLovely photostory Vanessa, you know I love Dasia, and she looks wonderful in casual outfits too!
ReplyDeletebilla's dolls - Thanks!
DeleteI love the story Vanessa. I need catch on Dasia and other stories you post. I'm officially back to blogging so please stop by!
ReplyDeleteEbony - Thanks. So glad to see you are back! I will stop over soon.
DeleteI think Dasia should call and find out if that color is okay. That way she wont have to deal with any random eyeballing from Carla's folks.
ReplyDeleteThat shirt is the business!
Muff - Thanks! You are probably right about the call, but Dasia already has an arsenal of stories to use about her daughter in the event there is a problem.
DeleteCute story! I see you made more cute clothes for Dasia. You are burning a hole in my pocket book! BTW, Dasia is loving her new clothes she got from your Etsy store. And her hubby says "Thank You!" Than animal print nighty is one hot number for sure and she looks awesome in it! Will post some pictures soon!
ReplyDeletePhyllis - Thanks. I'm so glad you guys are enjoying the new clothes. I put the shop in vacation mode for the next five days, but I'm still sewing for her.
DeleteThat shirt is nice. A white button down is a wardrobe staple for many women...and dollies. So Phyllis is buying up all the stuff Dena likes- I should have known! Lol
ReplyDeleteJewell - Thanks. That white shirt is quite versatile. Lol. There will be plenty for your Dena to buy.
DeleteWonderful story, I love Dasia's clothes.
ReplyDeleteAnnaloy - Thanks!
DeleteDid your stepgrandaughter get purple nail polish too? I hope Dasia's granddaughter enjoys her manicure. Dasia looks very polished in her new shirt.
ReplyDeleteCarrickters - No my granddaughter got hot pink polish. Both Dasia and her granddaughter had a fabulous day.
DeleteWhat a coincidence indeed! Love the work. I actually know what a yoke is. Not that I was successful at sewing but I remember that term.
ReplyDeleteKenya - Thanks. The next thing I have to get are the cuffs.
