Finally a Teenager!

I decided to create a teenager after recently exchanging comments at Niel's Doll Room.  I explained how I prefer infants and toddlers to older teenagers.  I do enjoy the 8 - 10 year olds in my stories too. I have a few older kids but they just haven't made their way into my stories yet.  Most of them even have families.

So here is the first teenager that will make an appearance in my stories. She is one of the ballet twins.  I temporarily put her on a Mary Kate body, until I can find something articulated.  She has such fair skin, that this body will be fine for the time being.

She is wearing a LIV shirt, Nascar Barbie jeans (which I almost couldn't get on her) and one Only Heart Club doll shoe.

My first thought is that she will be Lisa's niece; the daughter of her older brother, who lives out of town.  This way, little Miss Teenager can come to visit occassionally without me needing to create a new house.  You may get to meet her parents one day.  Her name is Brianne and she is 14 yrs old.  I decided to go with this name for two reasons.  First, my real brother's daughter's name is Brianna.  Secondly, Kaye, a blog reader suggested Brianne for one of my babies.  Given the storyline, I think Brianne is perfect for this little girl.  Thanks Kaye!

We are going orange!

Going orange is nothing like going green, but I will go orange every day if it looked like this.  This is another one that I wouldn't mind having in one of my houses.  There are a couple more pillow combinations offered, but I think this is my favorite. You can see the other options on the Etsy listing.  Currently available in my Etsy store.

I am currently working on an Accent Chair and Ottoman made from the multicolored fabric.

This poor child has been working overtime since she arrived.  She is probaably wishing she had landed in a household where she could just hang out and not work so hard.  The baby had to sit out of this shot.  Something about child labor laws.

Yes, I Still Make Furniture

This is the sofa I made to honor the arrival of my AA Barbie Basics 2.5.  That is how excited I was to finally see this doll for sale.  I think I need to go make something in red to honor the arrival of my Target Basic 2.0 dolls.  No, they are not on the way, yet, but soon.

Hmmm.  You know I want to keep this sofa. It is one of my favorites.  But it had to go to my Etsy shop.  It is already listed, just to keep me from being tempted.  I didn't buy much of this fabric, and the store just recently went out of business, so this may be the only sofa from this denim that I sell.  There may be a chair and ottoman.  Maybe.

"I don't understand.  If she made it to honor my arrival, shouldn't I get to keep it?"
In the perfect world, where money fell from trees, this would be true.

Just turning the pillows the other way, gives it a more modern feel.

Remove the back pillows and just use the throw pillows to change the look once again.

BB 2.5's Husband Called. He is on the Way!

Sometimes the stars just align up perfectly.  Today has been one of those days!  As you know, Barbie Basics 2.5 arrived yesterday and I desperately wanted her to have a husband.  I had someone in mind before she got here, but after seeing her in person, I wasn't sure about my choice.  This morning I took a look on the internet to see if I could find her a suitable husband.  I ended up on ebay.  I saw a couple of unpainted head sculpts.  One was of Denzel and one of Will Smith.  Don't get excited, I said UNPAINTED head sculpts. I wasn't sure that I wanted to take on that task, but at $19 shipped, I was at least willing to look at the guys other items for sale.  Low and behold, there he was!  My male holy grail!!!!  It was just his head, but I didn't care.  It won't be hard to find a body for him.  I think I have one here that will work.  I had totally given up on ever having this guy.  He has been so hard to come by.  The going rate is about $200, last I checked.  The painted head's starting bid was $29 shipped!!  Unbelievable.  There were 6 hours left on the auction and there weren't any bids yet.  With an hour left on the auction, I found myself getting very nervous.  There were still 0 bids.  I never bid until an auction is almost over.  Thirty minutes to go and I started getting worried that I would completely miss out on even putting in a bid.  What happens if my internet stalls right before I get my bid in.  I started dreaming up all kinds of "what ifs".  So at 22 mins to go I put in my maximum bid of $35.  And I waited.  Three minutes left.  No more bids.  Two minutes.  One minute.  WHAT!!! Some fool is trying to steal my doll at the last minute. (If that person is reading this post, I apologize for calling you out your name.)  Unfortunately for them, their maximum bid was $35, too.  So it went to me.  I WON!  I WON!  Oh, I need a drink now.  Even though I didn't think I would ever have this guy, I would have been in mourning if I would have lost him at the last minute.

Isn't he just gorgeous!

So he and Barbie Basics 2.5 are married and have been living in Atlanta for the past 5 years.  They are both originally from Virginia, and they are returning back home.  She and Antoinette are best of friends.  They went to high school together and have remained friends ever since.  We will definitely find out more about this couple soon.

Started out with an Office. Ended up with a Boutique

What an awesome morning!  I love when I get something done that wasn't even planned.  This morning I walked into the studio, just to get a glimpse of my new doll.  I got the bright idea to set up her office.  I was going to make her the town psychiatrist.  I cleared out the area that I was intending to use.  Within minutes I had changed my mind and decided to transform the space into the Langford's dining room.  I have been planning to have a family dinner for that family for over a month.  I got the dining room table in place, and just that quick, I changed my mind again.  I think BB 2.5 was whispering in my ear, "boutique, boutique", because I have no idea where this idea came from.  It wasn't even on my long list of things to do.  So I am patting myself on the back for pulling it together so quickly.  Within an hour I had what you see below.  Of course this is just the rough cut.  Many changes have to happen, but I am pleased with it so far. I knew taking the time to get organized these past few months would pay off.  I was able to go right to everything that I needed.  Sorry for the poorly lit pictures.  This is on a very dark side of my studio.  I will have to add interior lighting to the room.

This is the left side of the boutique. I may be adding some wallpaper.  There will probably be a full length mirror on the left hand wall.  The white hat will disappear when I get something nice to put in it's place.

This is the center.  I will be painting the purple on the little stand.  The pictures on the wall are note cards from Target.  The $1 section, of course.

This is the shoe area.  The blue will be painted another color. I haven't decided what yet. Not sure if that chair will stay, but there will be a chair of some sort in the space.

Shoes, glorious, shoes!

I am not a big shoe person, but I was definitely hyperventilating as I was putting these on the shelf. These are some bada__ shoes. I can't wait to get my Target accessory pack.  I need some red shoes on this wall.

Look at these shoes!  You go Mattel.

Everything in here is just a place holder.  It will be totally revamped with some really nice stuff.

I have been carrying these stockings around for years, but they have never been on display.... til now.

Every woman needs a nice pair of shades.

The flooring was my bright idea of the day.  It is actually just designer office folders. I had to move one of my used folders and just like that I thought of flooring.  I have so many extra folders, it was a perfect choice.  The green is just the inside of the folder.

Here she is (still nameless) in her sweats from (whitesquirrel on Etsy). She needed to be comfortable because she knew she would be working all day in the shop.  She is exhausted now. By the way, she is on her new Pop Life body.  Poor thing only had her original body for one day. Don't worry.  Halle is very happy with her exchanged body.

The baby (nameless, too) did fairly well, but now she is hungry and sleepy.  Since they are new in town, mom didn't want to leave the baby with anyone just yet.  The next post will give a little background about her.

She wonders what her husband is doing.  He is still in Atlanta, finishing up business.  They decided to make the move to Virginia to be closer to family.  They wanted the baby to know her relatives.  Nothing like being close to grandma.  She is hopeful that he will arrive soon.

AA Barbie Basics 2.5 is Here and She's Fabulous!

She is my new favorite doll.  I wanted to put her in with the Elite group, but I think I need to work her into the Families, because she needs a lot of video time.  I knew last week that I would pair her up with my new favorite baby.  I thought they would make a good pair, and I was right!  I have to find this woman a husband.  I have one in mind, but he might be a little old for her.  We shall see.

I was so excited about her that I made a denim couch to greet her upon her arrival.  I finished putting the legs on it this morning.  Perfect timing.  Of course she doesn't get to keep the sofa.  It will be put in my Etsy shop just as soon as I figure out what the second set of pillows will be.

She is skinny like the Model Muse dolls, but completely articulated.  The jeans are pretty stretchy because I was able to remove them without taking off her shoes.  I did not try them on any other doll, yet.  She can not sit without the snap in the back coming undone.

The copper top and copper shoes are stunning! The color is so unexpected.

Here she is with her baby.  The baby's hair color perfectly matches this doll's hair color.

Just a close up of the sofa fabric.  I love this sofa,  I think I will have to make one for my dolls.

So let's see what she can do without those jeans on.

Sorry for the blur. My camera was focused on the sofa.  Oops.

I have been trying to get this pose for quite some time.

I figured while I had her down here, I would let her do my exercises.  I just wasn't feeling it today.

Here she is working my abs.  I mean her abs.

So I love the new doll and the body is nice for $20.  However, I will be swapping her body for the Pop Life body Halle is on.  I am only doing this because she has to be able to hold her baby.  See how nicely Halle is holding the baby.  The new girl's arms do not have that range.  I am still kicking myself for not buying more of the Pop Life dolls from BC.  It was $12!  Kick, kick, kick!

Did I mention how much I love this little girl.  I was able to almost get her thumb in her mouth. She is not holding this pose without some help, but it shows how flexible her arms and legs are.

I bought 2 of this doll and one of the accessory sets. The accessory set is nice.  We will save that for another day.  This is my second post of the day.  You can see the other one here.
