Nighttime at the Taylor Home (Photostory)

Nikaya and Zahara are chatting away.
"Uh, oh.  Here comes mommy."  (Nikaya)

"Why is this light back on?  You two are supposed to be going to sleep."  (mom)

"Zahara wanted the light on."  (Nikaya)

"What's wrong, Zahara?"  (mom)
"Mommy, I heard something."  (Zahara)
"Something, like what?"  (mom)
"I don't know, but it sounded scary."  (Zahara)

"Come on, let's get you back under the covers.  There's nothing scary in here.  I told you not to watch that tv program.  Now you're all spooked."  (mom)

"Can you check under the bed to make sure nothing is there?"  (Zahara)
"Yes, honey, but I promise you, there's nothing there."  (mom)
Antoinette looks under the bed, just to appease Zahara.

"Goodnight, Nikaya."  (mom)
"Night, mom."

Antoinette turns the light off as she leaves the room.

"Nikaya, can I sleep with you?"  (Zahara)
"Okay. Come on."  (Nikaya)

Antoinette heads back to her room, where Tony is waiting.

She slips off her bedroom slippers and climbs into bed.

"What took so long?  I said goodnight to the kids almost an hour ago."  (Tony)

"Well it took two books to get Kenaz to sleep, and Zahara was spooked by some imaginary ghost.  I warned her about that tv show."  (Antoinette)
"But it was just a cartoon."  (Tony)
"I don't care.  I know how she is."  (Antoinette)

Antoinette takes one more look at her munchkins before cuddling up next to Tony.

"This is my favorite time of the day.  Finally, some peace and quiet."  (Tony)
"I know."  (Antoinette)

"A few more days and we will have the entire family together.  I bet you're excited to spend Thanksgiving with your dad."  (Antoinette)
"Yes.  It's going to be a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Especially now that dad and Rod have made amends."  (Tony)

"Well tomorrow I will spend the whole day cooking."  (Antoinette)
"I wish I didn't have to work tomorrow."  (Tony)
"But you do, so we better get some sleep."  (Antoinette)

"Goodnight honey."  (Antoinette)
"Goodnight, dear."  (Tony)

 A couple hours later.....
"Mommy? [no answer]  Mommy?"  (Zahara)

"Zahara?  What's wrong?"  (mom)
"I can't sleep."  (Zahara)
"Go turn on the light, honey."  (mom)

Zahara runs to turn on the light and comes right back.  This gives Antoinette a little time to shake off the grogginess.

"Oh, come here.  Are you okay?"  (mom)
"I had a bad dream.  They were coming to get me."  (Zahara)

"It was just a dream, Zahara."  (mom)
"Is she okay?"  (Tony)
"Yes.  She will be fine."  (mom)

Tony turns over and goes back to sleep.  Antoinette consoles Zahara.

"You're going to be okay.  I won't let anything come get you."  (mom)

"Mommy, can I sleep with you and daddy?"  (Zahara)

"Just close your eyes, and you will be asleep in no time.  Mommy will keep you safe."  (mom)
Zahara fell asleep pretty quickly.  Antoinette carried her back to her bed and tucked her in.

The reading area.

Kids are so weird, I could never understand them, why Zahara didn't wake up Nikaya instead?

I totaly adore both bedrooms, the look so real!

  3. Antoinette is so patient! See, if I wanted to watch something scary, my mom would make sure to tell me "If your going to watch that, you are NOT going to come into my room in the middle of the night saying your scared " LOL!

    1. Verona - I never watched scary movies so I don't know what my mom would have done. To this day, I don't watch scary movies.

  5. I loved this story! I was Zahara as a child. I loved scary movies but was terrified to go to sleep alone. Spent lots of nights in my mom's room. She was a patient mom too. :)

  8. LOL, I love how Tony just went back to sleep after making sure she was actually okay.

I went running to my mom's room one time when I was a little kid but man, she kept poking me in her sleep so I never did that again.

    1. Muff - Tony was like, I got to go to work tomorrow. Maybe your mother did that on purpose. LOL! Antoinette didn't even answer the 'can I sleep with you' question. She was intent on getting her back in her bed.

  10. The girls have a very colorful room. The reading area is quite nice, too.

A mother's job is never done. She cooks, cleans, cares for the children, while the husband (who might offer some help in these areas) is usually content that she's on top of her multitasking.

    1. DBG - You forgot that a lot of moms work outside the house, too. I don't understand why a lot of men can't multitask. Were they really born without that gene? It's just a rhetorical question.
