This is a 1/6 scaled pergola. If you are not familiar with pergolas, I included a couple of pictures of real ones at the end of this post. Todd, a member of the woodworking guild, recently made a full sized pergola for a client. After seeing some of my work, he was inspired to make a Barbie sized one that I could use to do some photoshoots. Isn't that sweet? He plans to add some other pieces. A grill, a spa, some lawn furniture, etc. Yesterday, he brought it to our meeting for show and tell. It is quite impressive in person.
Here are a couple of real pergolas.

What a wonderful gift! I think you need to plan another wedding so someone can get married under the pergola. :-)
ReplyDeletelimbe dolls - It's not a gift to me! I just have use of it when I need to. The first thing I thought about was a wedding when I saw it. I thought of Kyori and Jay Chou. But I don't know that I can do another wedding.
DeleteWOW!!! That's a wonderful work... and a wonderful gift! You'll create the best dios under that pergola (in Spanish we call it the same way!).
ReplyDeleteRossetti - It is great work, but it is not a gift. I will have use of it, but I will not take possession of it.
DeleteTodd's pergola is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing how you incorporate it into future dios.

DBG - I'm excited to see the other pieces he spoke about creating. I told him it definitely needs a hot tub.
Deleteit's so beautiful!! will you use it for some scenes?
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see spa!
jewel snake - Yes, I plan to do a couple future dioramas under the pergola. It may be a little while, though.
DeleteBeautiful! I'm sure it will be handy to use!
ReplyDeleteVerona - I'm looking forward to doing some photosessions soon.
DeleteLove the pergola! Does he do Barbie gazebos too?
ReplyDeleteCindi - This is his only Barbie structure so far. He has only started doing them because of me. He may sell some items in the future. Still up in the air at the moment.
DeleteA hot tub would be cool...:-)
DeleteWow, this is very nice! I look forward to seeing how you utilize it.
ReplyDeleteGeorgia Girl - FYI, we are considering renting usage out to local Georgians. We are still working out details.
DeleteIt would be a wonderful piece to do an outdoor wedding &/or reception, but I agree, the wedding would be alot of work. It would be a neat way to do the proposal for Kyori & Jay.
ReplyDeleteA hot tub would be fun underneath that! It is a lovely piece!Looking forward to what you come up with!
Lisa - I have done my one doll wedding for the next two years. Unless I can figure out how to make money doing doll weddings, it will be a long time before I do another one. The only thing about doing a proposal, is people then wonder "when is the wedding?"
DeleteWow, he's good! See, you're already inspiring other people. :) Have you talked him into an Etsy account, or does he have one already? That would be an awesome addition for anyone to add to their 1/6 world.
ReplyDeleteIt would make for a beautiful wedding...maybe for a smaller, more intimate wedding. Really beautiful work!
Tracy - He doesn't have an Etsy account. He and I are considering some unique ways to use this structure. He may possibly sell the other items that he makes to go with the structure.
DeleteOhhhh! Woooow!
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned in the comment that you can use it but not take possession of it. That is even better, in a way. At least you don't have to worry about storage. :)
Niel - It will definitely be nice to use it and not have to figure out where to keep it. I should get him to build a horse stable and have him keep my horses at his place. LOL!
DeleteAbsolultely stunning!
ReplyDeleteGrandmommy - See what you started! LOL!
DeleteWOW, that is beautiful! That's so very nice of him to make a doll sized replica! :)
ReplyDeleteDolly's World - I was shocked when he said he was working on it. And even more shocked when he showed it. If he's not careful, he might get sucked into this fabulous doll world of ours.
DeleteOhhhh, that's so lovely. It really has an Asian flair to it.
ReplyDeleteMuff - I immediately saw Asian, too, when I first looked at it. Oooh, I just imagined nice big red pillows and a table in the middle and Kyori and Jay Chou having a nice romantic dinner. Now I just imagined Darius and Nikki together on one of his many business trips to perhaps China. There is a hot tub and they are canoodling with a bottle of champagne. Maybe he is finally proposing the right way.
DeleteWOW! Amazing! Congratulations :)
ReplyDeleteSergio - Isn't it wonderful? I only have use of it, which is perfectly fine with me.
DeleteC'est vraiment très beau Vanessa. Je te souhaite une belle semaine à bientôt.
ReplyDeleteShasarignis - Merci. Il a fait un travail fabuleux tremplin dans le monde poupée.
DeleteHello from Spain: I love this pergola. The pergola looks real. In my country are used on porches and gardens of the house. People eat in summer under the pergola. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteMarta - I'm sure they are popular here, too, but I rarely see them. They are beautiful, though.
DeleteIF you do have another wedding I'd love to mail one of my dolls to be a guest. That would be so fascinating. Lol. Ohhh now I want to find a doll exchange and send one of my girls on a trip lol
ReplyDeleteToni - I will keep your dolls in mind if that wedding ever comes about. You are funny, but the doll exchange is a cute idea. If I had more time, I would possibly help you out.
DeleteIsn't that gorgeous and how wonderful to have the use of it and not have to find a place to store it. I'm looking forward to seeing it in a dio with all the other furniture Todd is talking about it - it sounds like he is already sucked into the doll world. I'm sure you will find lots of story ideas (with or without weddings) where you will use it.
ReplyDeleteCarrickters - I was thinking this would be a great place for the baby celebration for Kendra. We will see. It is great to use a structure, but packing up all the doll stuff I use sometimes, can be a challenge. I may need to do a simple story first.
