The Versatile Table

 If you've followed my stories, you know that I am big on using the same props over and over for many different scenes.  I have gotten my money's worth, when it comes to my props.  So I am very excited about this little table I created for my Etsy store.  This is a table that I would use all over Morristown.

It makes the cutest little display table for a store boutique. 

Need a sofa table?  Add some cute accessories, a plant or lamp on top.  Throw a basket underneath or some greenery and voila!

Buffet table you say?  Imagine a bake sale at the local school. 

Entryway table?  No problem.  Add accessories and a nice picture above, and it's the perfect entry to any dwelling.  See how nice those customized words look in action.  Note:  Words and cute little basket are available in the store, too.

Add two of the tables together and you have a larger space to work with.  Just imagine some cute little sweaters or tops neatly displayed like you see in the real boutiques.

The possibilities for this little table are endless.  I was considering making a black one, but maybe a brown one would be better.  I do love this little space.  If Racquel doesn't get if for Ni'Chalet's, maybe some other budding entrepreneur will snatch it up.

Words and a Cake

 Well, I finally got the customizable words listed in my Etsy shop.    The customer picks the word (up to 7 letters), upper or lower case, and either black or white.  The price is quite reasonable considering the amount of work that goes into these little pieces.  These are made on a scroll saw, lightly sanded, prepped for painting, then painted.  The price is an introductory one through the end of the year.

I will be offering a few Halloween cakes at about half the price of my normal cakes.  They will come with 2 cut slices that are detailed and loose.  They will not come with the pictured cake stand.  I have plans for more Halloween treats.  We will see how that goes.

The next story is already waiting to be told.  I can tell you it takes place at the Pediatrician's office.  Hope you will tune in for that episode.

Chocolate Cake, Anyone?

I know I am supposed to be posting the rest of the Family Fun Day, but this chocolate cake totally distracted me.  Can't you just taste the chocolate from there?  Yes, it's Barbie sized and now available in my Etsy store.

In real life, my hips can't handle this much chocolate icing.  But in dolly world, bring on the chocolate!

I wouldn't give you a partially eaten cake.  You also get the two cut out slices on ceramic plates.

There is also lemon meringue pie slices in the Etsy store, too.

The taste testers sampled those earlier.  Lucky for them they can't gain any weight!  Oh I wonder what that would be like.

Animal Attraction and Apple Green Plaid

Don't be confused.  They are just the names of my two latest furniture pieces.  I have more coming, but I have to take a station break to work on a commission or two.  Both pieces are listed in my Etsy shop.

This is one of my favorite fabrics.  It is so soft. I made a chair from this fabric about 4 years ago.  I didn't have a lot of fabric to begin with, but I was able to get an accent chair and ottoman out of what I had left.  If I look at it too long, I may be unlisting it and putting it in someone's house downstairs. LOL.

Look who I found.  Jacquelyn Langford.  Poor child hasn't had any camera time lately.  If you look closely, you can see the scowl on her face.  I sure hope she hasn't been hitting the bottle all this time.  If so, she may need some professional help by now.

The latest sofa is called Apple Plaid.  This sofa makes me smile. 

So happy to see that she is eating cake and drinking tea.  I was getting worried.

The next post should feature food, but it won't.  I have been patiently waiting for new plates to arrive before making any new food.  I sure hope the plates are the right size.  So instead of food, you will probably get the next and last segment of the Labor Day Cookout. 

Setbacks

Had a few setbacks. My computer decided to experience problems. just as I was getting the business up and running. That is the most frustrating thing. To think that all your information is lost for good. To try to figure out how to afford a new computer. Talk about stress!

Well it all turned out okay. My computer apparently needed a break. After a weekend off, it decided to work again.

I added more items to my Etsy account. I am now up to 8 items. Yeah! I only have 92 more to go. I understand that once you get to 100 items your business does a lot better. I am getting more people looking at my items, but not enough. I have to do a little marketing. I have some ideas. My goal is to put some of them in play this weekend. By the way, I did get my banner up. I am really happy with it. It features furniture and dolls.

Starting my Doll business on Etsy

Well today I have made incredible progress on my doll business. I finally listed an item on Etsy.com. This is the site for artisans to sell their items. My first item is a pink stripted Barbie sized sofa. I only have one item up so far, but I can't wait to put more items up for sell. My Etsy account is about 90% done. I still have to add my picture to my personal profile. I got the Google Analytics up and running.... and I have now started my new blog.

Unfortunately, it is now 11:30 pm and I have a long drive to get home. Only to return here at my day job by 8:30am. My day job is really cool though. I make hats and handbags for a company called Because We Can. Check out our website sometime. http://www.necessitiesonline.com/. Tell them Vanessa sent you.

But I digress. I am really proud that I have stuck to my goals tonight. I actually exceeded them. I knew when I was listening to those audio tapes, "Think and Grow Rich", by Napoleon Hill, that he was lighting my fire. I definitely needed it. I have been stop and go on my doll business since 2003. Persistence is the name of the game. I was so unfocused before. Moving from dolls to cake making to Real Estate to Accessory making. Blah, Blah, Blah. As Napoleon Hill said, do what you are passionate about, and be persistent about it. Don't Give UP!!!! I hear a few no's and allow that to deter me. Not anymore.

SO GREAT JOB Vanessa. You have made the first step. Tomorrow we will make the next step. But for now it is time to crawl into the car, drive yourself home, kiss the dogs, and go to bed.
