Winx Update

Several months ago I did a post on the Winx dolls.  I was particularly excited about their full articulated bodies at $12.99.  When I went to back to the stores, I noticed that the $12.99 dolls were articulated only in the legs.  The other dolls, with the wings, were $20 and up, but fully articulated.  I was a little confused, because the $12.99 dolls on-line were fully articulated, too.  It seems to be another case of two different dolls at the $12.99 price.  I never got around to ordering the fully articulated dolls on-line.  Friday I went to Fry's Electronic store, and the $19.99 dolls were sitting up front and marked at $12.99.  This was my chance to check out these dolls first hand.  I picked up two different ones and took them to the register.  They did not have the AA one, or I would have bought her, too.  When I got to the register, it turns out they had put the wrong price on the dolls.  They had marked these $12.99 when they were supposed to be marked $19.99.  Haha.  Of course they had to sell it to me for the marked price.

Here they are in their packages.

I was really concerned about removing those wings when I saw them in the package.

Turns out the wings are very easily removed.  What a great design!  Way to go, Jakks Pacific.

Here are both girls with their wings removed.

The body is really nice.  It is made of high quality vinyl and very sturdy. It's a great teenage body with full articulation.

View from the back.  She can fit Monster High shoes.  Probably Stardoll shoes, too, but I didn't try them.

Here she is compared to a LIV doll.  As you can see, she has a larger sized head.  I was hoping to incorporate them into the stories, but not with those heads.  I decided to check out a body swap.

The heads are very easily removed.

I had a Skipper doll that is the same body tone as the blonde doll.  I did the body swap, but due to the really thin neck on the Winx doll, the Skipper head was way too loose.  So, I have to do one of two things.  One, figure out what I can put into the head to make the body fit better, or two, shrink the Winx heads to make them smaller.  I have never tried that before, but I like their look, and shrinking the heads might be worth it.  I will keep you posted.

I went on line to ToysRUs and Target to see if they still had the $12.99 fully articulated dolls.  They do have a few.  Again the AA doll is gone.  ToysRUs is currently having a Buy One Get One 50% off on their Winx dolls.

    1. Roxanne - You are welcome. Take a look at limbe dolls review for more information. I'm really thinking this is the perfect head shrinkage project. I really like their faces and their hair.

  3. Congratulations on getting a great deal! I did a post on Winx dolls as body donors in September:

They can wear Star Doll shoes. Bratz and Disney Fairy dolls can wear their clothes.

    1. limbe dolls - Wow, I missed your post. Great info. It makes sense that the Stardolls would probably fit since they, too, have smaller necks. I want to figure out how to make the teenagers fit, or shrink these heads, because I think this is the perfect body for younger crew.

  4. Hello from Spain: in my country are also on sale and cost about $ 20. It's good to know that the wings can be removed easily. I like her body articulable. I also tried to find an articulable body for my Skipper but I did not find one. When you know how to adjust the body informs ... You always have great ideas to improve our dolls. We keep in touch.

  5. Thanks for the review and the sale info! I always look at these in the stores but I have yet been tempted to buy. I did not know there was an AA one though! That one has not shown up in any of my stores.

    1. Muff - The AA one is the shade of an Artsy fashionista. I've seen the partially articulated one in our Walmarts. They had the fully articulated one on-line Target, but she is gone at the moment.
