Turns out it's Robin's kitchen. Remember her? She and her mom own the Bridal Boutique where Danielle bought her wedding dress. She has just returned from the store, picking up a few things she needed for her daughter's school lunches.
"Okay, let's get these things put away." (mom)
"Can I help?'" (daughter)
"Yes, Mommy can always use some help. I'll let you put some things in the refrigerator. We will have this stuff put away in no time." (mom)
Let's take a peek and see what she bought. I see peanut butter and jelly, pickles, tuna, Snapple type drinks, yogurt, mozzarella, and ooooh some chocolate ice cream bars.
30 minutes later, Robin's sisters, Tanisha and Chandra have arrived. They are meeting to decide what to do for their mom on Mother's Day.
"Would you guys like a drink or something to eat?" (Robin)
"Nothing for me. I just ate." (Chandra)
"Do you have Sprite?" (Tanisha)
"And how is my favorite niece? Have you been practicing those dance moves I showed you?" (Tanisha)
"So what did you guys come up with for Mother's Day?" (Robin)
"What about a Spa Day? She could get a massage, maybe a mud bath, a facial, the whole works" (Tanisha)
"I was thinking of a gift certificate to Ni'Chalet's. Mommy could use a new outfit." (Chandra)
"I like both ideas. Of course, we would have to request a female masseuse because Daddy is not going to go for some man feeling all over his woman" (Robin, laughing)
"You are so right about that." (Chandra, laughing)
"Daddy is so controlling. I don't know why Mommy puts up with that. I'm not going to let some man tell me what I can and can't do." (Tanisha, not laughing)
"Well, Mom and Dad have been married a long time and I think Mom let's Dad thinks he's in control. Personally, I'm not willing to get on Dad's bad side over a little massage." (Robin)
"Here, here." (Chandra)
Robin leaves the room momentarily to see what her husband wants. Her daughter decides to tag along.
Chandra decides to have a drink after all. She finds some freshly brewed iced tea in the refrigerator and helps herself.
"So are you coming to the studio, later?" (Chandra)
"Yes, but I have to stop by the mall first. They are having a sale at Macy's. Don't you want to come with me?" (Tanisha)
"Tanisha, every time I go shopping with you, I spend my money and you come borrow what I bought! I am on to your game now."
"Alright. So are we going to go with the spa day?" (Robin)
"Yes, and I think she should have a male masseuse. Who wants some woman feeling all over them?" (Tanisha)
"Anyway..... I will make the arrangements. I'll pay for half and you guys can split the rest." (Robin)
"Split the rest?!" (Tanisha)
Here is a family portrait of the sisters with their parents.
THE NEW PENS: I made two more pens yesterday. So Mother's Day gift is taken care of.
This was the wooden one I made yesterday. It's a lot prettier in person than is reflected here in this picture.
The second one I made out of corian, the same stuff they make counter tops out of. The process is the same as the wood pens, but it takes a lot more elbow grease to make this one. But isn't it purrdy?
So here are the three pens I've made so far. Pen making can be addictive.
Have I mentioned how envious I am that you can make such awesome pens???
ReplyDeleteI love the story too... I need a spa day!
Heather - As a pen addict, I guess it's understandable. LOL! I must say, it's getting harder for me to pick up just any old pen and use it. I think most of us could use a spa day.
DeleteThanks for introducing us to Robin and her beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteThose pens are exquisite! It would be great and quite profitable if you could bottle, box, or otherwise capture your talent and sell it.

DBG - You are welcome! I am glad to finally get to some of the other families. It helps that the regular families are stuck at the reception. Making pens is quite rewarding. I remember going to the Mont Blanc pen store when I was much younger and thinking, one day I will own one of those pens. Well, my brain would never let me pay those prices, so it's nice to have a Vanessa Morrison pen.
DeleteI would settle for bottling up and selling my energy and desire to learn. I would be rich!
My doll group gave me an orange (the closest color to my favorite color, peach) Mont Blanc pen in 2003 as a congratulatory gift after my first book was published (along with several other items). I have only had to refill it once. It remains my favorite desktop pen. They are wonderful!
DeleteI'd like to own a Vanessa Morrison pen too; I'd keep it on my work desk. Do you plan to add these to your Etsy store?
dbg
DBG - What a gift! Knowing you is the closest I will get to owning a Mont Blanc pen. Initially, I had no plans to offer pens, but after completing these last two, I've decided this would be a wonderful way for people to own something nice that I have created. They write so smooth and just float across the page. They will be the first items I put in my new Etsy store that will feature pens and other non-doll related wood pieces.
DeleteCool -- looking forward to seeing your pen offerings.
DeleteDo you know it was not until today, that I actually discovered just how much my pen probably cost! Wow... I purchased the refills on eBay so I wasn't really aware of how expensive the Mont Blancs are until now.
Who knew?
dbg
DBG - I knew! Every since I was a little girl.
DeleteOh the kitchen is robins what is the daughters name gonna be i love tge new years picture they are such chatterboxes
ReplyDeleteacrist9 - The daughter has a name, I just can't remember what it is. I have to look it up.
DeleteThose groceries look great and I love the Minnie Mouse cup. I think it's nice to see that the daughter is already offering to help out.
ReplyDeleteThose pens are phenomenal! They're absolutely beautiful!
Alura - I have the Mickey Mouse and two Donald Duck cups. Some kids are just born helpers. She is one of those.
DeleteThanks! I'm sure there will be many more pens in my future.
Robin and her daughter are adorable! Love the pens.
ReplyDeleteHello from Spain: Robin has a nice family. Congratulations to create feathers. You're a very talented woman. wow, wow ... I like all food and shopping bag. Beautiful as always. I also need an hour at the spa ... Keep in touch.
ReplyDeleteLove the story and you know I love her name is tanisha lol .My mom is the same way about getting massages from ladies that's funny. I think we all need that spa visit !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful family and I love your pens!
ReplyDeleteLovely family! They are a good looking family. I gave my niece a spa day gift card last year and she said that it was the best Mother's Day gift ever. A massage and a outfit are awesome gifts.
ReplyDeleteVery nice work on the pens! I love Robin, she's gorgeous! I'm really interested to see who her hubby is. I like being in suspense, LOL.
ReplyDeleteRobin's kitchen is sharp. You have a great eye for detail.
Great post.
Nice to see another family. I really like the corian pen.
ReplyDeleteVerona - Thanks! I love the Robin doll. I can't wait to do more with her.
ReplyDeleteMarta - Thanks! I hope you get that spa day soon. You've been working hard over there.
Tinisha - LOL! She was named after my cousin's daughter. She looks just like this doll. Wouldn't a dolly blogger spa day be fabulous?!
Vita Plastica - Thanks! You know I have to put all these dolls to work. They can't just be sitting around doing nothing.
Georgia Girl - Thanks! I treated my mom to her first ever massage when she first came to GA. She LOVED it! I on the other hand, let a Spa Sydell gift certificate expire. Silly me!
Tracy - Thanks! I love that Robin doll. She has got body, too! I was taking note of all her doll curves. She gets a lot of attention around Morristown. Her husband hates it. I think I spotted her husband this morning, but it could have just been a passerby. LOL!
limbe dolls - Thanks. I am anxious to explore the elite families a little more. There are some interesting characters in that bunch.
Wonderful pens!!! And love the way you put your dios into life, they look soooo real!!!!
ReplyDeleteRossetti - Thanks, glad you like the pens! They are a lot of fun to make.
DeleteThat whole conversation sounded like me and my sisters talking about Mother's day, except we do it by email and phone. It's like, you buy this, I'll buy that and then we'll split the cost, so you owe me this much and I owe you that much, lol.
ReplyDeleteThose pens are awesome! Makes me want to take them apart and use them for my doll stuff!
Muff - Only you would think about dismantling my handcrafted pens! I thought about you today when I visited a new Big Lots that just opened up down the street from me.
DeleteTanisha was not feeling the 'split'.
I love your groceries vanessa did u make them
ReplyDeleteacrist9 - No I didn't make the groceries. They are from a company called Rement and I bought them on Ebay.
