Ultra Mini American Girl Dolls (Photostory)

While shopping at JoAnn's this weekend, I ran across these ultra mini AG dolls.  I had seen them before but never paid much attention to them.  After reading the back of the package and realizing these little dolls were articulated and could be redressed and given new hair, I decided to give one a try.  I figured it would make a great AG doll for my old Janet/Stacy sized dolls.  They would also work for my Only Heart dolls, like Nicole.

There were at least 15 different ones in all different skin tones.  The single pack retails for $5.99.  I used my 50% off coupon.  The white piece shown is a doll stand and it comes with an extra skirt.

"Hello everyone.  With this being the first year that an African American doll has been named Doll of the Year, I wanted to get my granddaughter one for her birthday.  So this is Gabriella McBride in the ultra mini."  (Dasia)

"I can't believe I finally got an American Girl doll!  She's so pretty.  I thought you said they were too expensive."  (Carla)
"They are expensive, but this may be the only African American DOTY we every see, so I wanted to make sure I supported the company and added this potentially rare doll to your collection."  (Dasia)
"I like how her body moves."  (Carla)

"Now I can join the American Girl doll club."  (Carla)
"There's a club?"  (Dasia)
"Not really, but all my friends who didn't already have one, asked Santa for one at Christmas."  (Carla)
"And everyone got one?"  (Dasia)
"I think so."  (Carla)

"I love her Grandma.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!"  (Carla)
"You are welcome, welcome, welcome.  Make sure you take very good care of her."  (Dasia)
"I will!"  (Carla)

"Let me show you how to change her clothes and her hair."  (Dasia)
"Okay."  (Carla)

The doll comes completely apart and you can change her hair, her skirt and probably her shoes.  As for articulation, she can turn at the waist. bend her knees, spread her legs, move her arms, and turn her head.

"There you go.  She now has on her pink skirt and she's standing on her stand."  (Dasia)
"Ooooh, can we go shopping to buy her some more clothes?"  (Carla)
"Grandma has spent all the money she is going to spend on this doll, at the moment.  You may want to ask your granddad for some birthday money.  Otherwise, you can earn some extra money by doing some chores."  (Dasia)
"I'll go ask Granddad."  (Carla)

Grandmas give the best gifts!  I will be adding a few more of these to my collection.  I can't believe how versatile they are!

  1. Those are very nice little dolls; Carla looks adorable holding hers. I've seen them around, but hadn't thought about getting them as dolls for a doll. They make similar Monster High dolls; as an Ever After High fan I wish they'd make those as minis too.

    1. Barb - I haven't seen the MH dolls. I'm glad I took the time to look at them closer. I was surprised at how many different ones they had.

  2. These are super cute! I don't have any doll "children" who might play with dolls, but I love the concept of dolls for dolls!

    1. Phyllis - I wish I had discovered them about a month ago when they had all the toy items 50% off. I would have cleaned up.

  4. I'm glad Dasia granddaughter loves her new doll. My daughter has them and she makes up so many stories when she plays with her sets.

  5. Those dolls are pretty cool. Even at full price, they are worth it. Dasia is right, American Girl Dolls are pretty expensive.

    1. Jaye - Yes, at full price it is still a good buy. I think they have multi-doll sets. That would be a good way to use the 40 or 50% off coupons.

  8. I hadn't thought of this size being so solid as a doll's doll, but it really works! :)

    1. jSarie - It really does work. The irony of the dolls having their very own AG dolls is just too cute.

    1. Brini - I'm assuming you are going to Hobby Lobby for the beach chair set and JoAnns for the AG dolls. Happy shopping!

  10. They are adorable! I purchased 2 from Target on clearance after Christmas. They are at Walmart as well. They will Julianna's. She has a small collection of dolls and elephants.

  11. How cute! I'll be sure to look for these. Fun fact: My school has an American Girl Club. The girls in the club bring their dolls and meet after school once a week to do activities and crafts with their dolls. It's run by a couple of teachers who are avid doll collectors.
