Today while perusing through Hobby Lobby, I ran across this wonderful beach chair condiment holder. It looked a little tall for the dolls, but I knew I could shorten the legs if needed. I was still on the fence as to whether to buy it or not and then I saw the umbrella. That sealed the deal. It retails for $19.99, but the Spring Shop items were 40% off this week, so it was $11.99. A little more expensive than I wanted to pay, but I didn't want to regret not buying it. By the way, there is always a 40% off coupon on Hobby Lobby's website that can be used once per day on non-sale items.
I think I will paint it white before adding a piece of decorative wood over the holes.
So cute!
It is a tad too tall for the Barbie dolls. It's probably perfect for the Integrity dolls.
I think it's time to get out the sand and create another beach.
Sharp eye. I know you will make it work playscale-wise!

DBG - Thanks. A few leg cuts here and there, and I think it will be perfect.
DeleteThis is really cute! I will have to stop by a Hobby Lobby to see if they have them. Have you tried seating your male dolls in these? Maybe the fit will be perfect for them!
ReplyDeletePhyllis - Isn't it cute? I hope you are able to find one. My Hobby Lobby had two. I'm pretty sure it is the perfect height for the taller dolls.
DeleteLove this! I think it's time for another trip to Hobby Lobby! LOL :-)
ReplyDeleteCindi - Good luck. I hope you are able to find one.
DeleteHappy Sunday!! Vanessa, I picked one up from there yesterday also. Lol! They only had one. I didn't like the price either, but there was not way that I was going to leave it in the store. Lol! I also planned to paint it white because of the umbrella colors. I may choose to do it in red. You will probably do yours before I do. I have to add this s to my list of projects. Lol!
ReplyDeleteGeorgia Girl - Congrats on getting one. Just think $12 is better than $20. The umbrella is of such great quality, it's worth the $12. I will probably get it painted sometime next week.
DeleteI LOVE it! So cute! Looking forward to seeing your new diorama with it.
ReplyDeleteMoonlight - Thanks. My dolls have been wanting to go back to the beach.
DeleteThis could suit SO well in the sand of Rio's beaches...It's a pity that we can hardly find lovely miniatures 1:6 in Brazil, comparing with the great Universe of fun we find in America.
ReplyDeleteCongrats,Vanessa! You have amazing objects for your doll job!
Jorge - Thanks. Yes, it would be perfect for the sands in Rio. I wouldn't mind experiencing those sands myself.
DeleteLove it! I bought a wooden picnic table condiment holder,(that is fine with a table cloth over it), and a wire condiment cart that had an umbrella.Seems all doll people think alike!
ReplyDeleteTam - I have two of those picnic condiment holders. I've always had plans to fill the holes with wooden circles, but it's so much easier to throw a tablecloth on it. Lol. I don't think I've ever seen the wire condiment cart.
DeleteThis is very cool and looks quite sturdy. Love that umbrella.
ReplyDeleteMuff - It's made of a very hard plastic, but it's screwed together. Yes, the umbrella is very well made. I'm a sucker for doll umbrellas.
DeleteDealing with snow and ice here, so sitting in the sand under an umbrella sounds great!
ReplyDeleteBarb - Sounds chilly. We have had a rather warm winter this year. It's been a little chilly in the mornings the past few days, but we are supposed to be in the mid 60s during the day. I will try to get that sand set up real soon.
DeleteI like that furniture. Will make a good backdrop for your storiss. Looks like your crew will have fun (away from) the sun.
ReplyDeleteAck! I meant "stories."
DeleteD7ana - Over the years I have found some very interesting pieces at Hobby Lobby that work really well in 1/6 land.
DeleteWow. That is very cute, indeed. And with the changes you are proposing, I know it will fit right into the scenery. I like your idea of placing a wooden insert over the holes. And I see why the umbrella was a selling point!!!!
ReplyDeleteapril - I hope to have it painted by this weekend. Even with the taller male dolls it is still a little tall, so cutting the legs a bit will make it perfect.
DeleteOMG, it turned out perfect for the dolls. And the umbrella is way too cute.
ReplyDeleteJust My Dolls - Welcome to my blog. Yes, the umbrella is so well made with metal spokes. It's just like the real thing.
DeleteI have this chair/table, just like yours. I haven't selected a color yet, but did make cushions for the current pink color. It will be nice to see it when you change it and use it in scenes. Nice deal.
ReplyDeleteJaye - Cool. I would love to see it with the cushions you made. I'm a little surprised at the bright pink color with the red and white umbrella. I would have thought they would have done it in white.
DeleteVanessa, I'm too lazy to go pull it out right now (I finally organized and put some things away), but I do have photos of it in this post: http://jayesdollspace.blogspot.com/2016/08/leemas-summer-fashion-line.html
DeleteWhat a great find and it perfect for the dollies. I would cover the center with a piece of covered foam core/cardboard and make a whole for the umbrella and they have a great table too.
ReplyDeleteBrini - Sorry for the delayed response. Your message ended up in my 'waiting for moderation' folder. I've finished painting it white. I still need to make it a little shorter to make the dolls feel more comfy when they sit down.
DeleteIt's wonderful! Thank you for posting this!
ReplyDeleteLisa - I hope you are able to get your hands on one.
DeleteOh that set is adorable! Perfect for dolls!! ~jamiestoyblog
ReplyDeleteOly - Isn't it? I just couldn't leave it in the story. Thanks for the link to your blog. I am now a follower.
