Continuing with the Disney articulated body review. If you missed part 1, you can see it here. You can also see a very nice review of the Disney body on Ms. Leo's blog entitled, Another Road Trip In this post I will briefly compare the Disney body to the LIV body and the Fashionista body. For more detailed body comparisons, see Ms. Leo's post.
Here you see all three bodies. LIV on the left, Disney in the middle, and Fashionista on the right. As you can see, my Barbie Basics 3.0 #8 doll got the first Princess Tiana body. It is a perfect match! In this picture she is wearing Barbie heels, which makes her taller than the LIV doll and about the same height as the Fashionista doll. Of course this will vary according to the size of heel on the shoe.
Here's another look of LIV and Disney with heels.
Here is a comparison shot of the hands. The LIV hands never looked natural. The Disney hands are nicely sculpted.
When you remove the heels from the Disney body, and she is flat footed, she is the same size as the LIV doll. I really like that the Disney body can experience height changes, like in real life. One thing to note, that I forgot to take a picture of, is the LIV body rotates at the waist. The Disney body does not.
Here are all three girls again, with the Disney body now flat footed. You can now see how her height compares to the Fashionista doll.
With heels, again.
I was asked to show if she can ride a horse. The answer is yes.
The one drawback to the Disney body is her sitting ability. Her legs can not close all the way. I thought is would be worse than this. She is fine sitting as long as she doesn't try to put on a mini skirt.
Here she is in a different type of chair.
Sideview.
Compared to the LIV doll. I can live with this seating issue. The benefits of this body far outweigh the minor seating problem.
So in conclusion..... I LOVE this body. The skin tone, the quality, the articulation, the possible height changes, the ability to wear all those Barbie shoes I already have, make this body an 8 out of 10 for me. I will definitely buy more as the need arises.
You and Ms Leo give such great reviews. So far, I think I like the Disney body and will purchase at least two. Are the legs separated by a band?
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and I adore the horse.
Tracy - It's definitely worth trying out to see how you like it. You will immediately notice the high quality of the doll. I know that has always been a pet peeve of yours. The legs are not separated by a band.
DeleteHave you seen my new horses? They are pictured in this post. http://vansdolltreasures.blogspot.com/2012/04/crazy-target-sale.html
Ok, so I'm definitely going to get 2 Disney bodies, you convinced me. :) I was pretty much sold when you showed the knees and ankles but I'm also loving the slightly petite height.
DeleteHow did I miss the post about the horses, I am so behind. Love them! I've seen the ranches for a decent price on eBay. Hmmm...maybe one of my guys will be a real live cowboy. :)
Tracy - The Generation horses are really nice. I am planning to have a couple of cowboys in town. They will more than likely be in charge of the stable.
DeleteThank you for this post Vanessa! Next time I go to a Disney Store I hope to find dolls with this body
ReplyDeleteSergio - I hope you are able to find these bodies. They really are worth buying at least one to try to out.
DeleteIt really is a great body! Not everyone is the same height, so why should our dolls be.
ReplyDeleteVerona - It really is. I like that she can be short or tall.
DeleteVanessa, thanks for the review and the information about the horse riding. It's great, that it's possible to ride a horse with this body. I love doll horses and hate articulated bodies, which don't give dolls an ability to ride. It always seems so strange for me.
ReplyDeleteAlso thanks for the link to Ms. Leo's blog, it's always good to get as much information as possible.
Dukasha - You are welcome. Ms. Leo does nice doll reviews regularly and she is more thorough than I am.
DeleteFor scenes that require a more "ladylike" sit, could you use one of those tiny clear elastic bands at her knees to hold her legs together? I don't have one of these yet, but the older Disney bodies have the rubbery legs--they have some give to them. Of course, ladies don't have to sit like 'ladies' all the time. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteMiss Lola - I did think about the rubber band. But I was thinking I would just put a long skirt on her for the times. We shall see. I'm not that concerned about it.
DeleteHello from Spain: I prefer the articulated body of Disney dolls before the body of the LIV. The hands are most real Disney. When I enter a Disney store I look for the dolls. Thanks for reporting on these bodies. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteMara - I think you will like the Disney body. Good luck finding them.
DeleteThanks for the additional comparison. The legs appear very thin on the Disney doll. But the same is true for the Fashionistas. Other than the thinness of the legs I still like the Disney body.
ReplyDeletedbg
DBG - The legs aren't nearly as thin as the fashionista legs and the knees aren't either.
DeleteNice review! I plan to get a couple thanks to you and Ms Leo enabling us : ) I especially love the height difference.
ReplyDeleteGeorgia Girl - You know we live to enable! Why just spend our own money, when we can spend other people's money, too.
DeleteThanks for the review. I'm planning a trip to the Disney store this week.
ReplyDeletelimbe dolls - I think it's strange that none of the Disney dolls in the regular stores are articulated. Very strange.
DeleteLove your review. This kind of information eliminates the worry of ending up with something you might not want after you have already bought the doll. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteRoville - Nothing like buying a doll product and being totally disappointed. We have all been there I am sure.
DeleteI glad you reviewed her. I do need a body for my Teen Nikki and ths might just work out for me. Of cours I will need to get 2 as well. It would be nice to get her a BFF since I can't see to win a HSM doll.
ReplyDeleteBrini = That would be a nice body for Teen Nikki. Have you checked Amazon for an HSM doll. They seem to have them on sale quite often. It's worth a look see.
DeleteThanks for this review. We have one Disney Store here. I guess I'll have to make the effort to mosey on over there the next time they have a sale.
ReplyDeleteMuff - You're welcome. I am on lookout for the sale, so I will let you guys know if I run across another one.
