Monica has stopped by McDonald's to grab a cup of coffee. She has a meeting with the banker to discuss the loan for the doggie daycare she is planning to open.
"That will be $1.38."
"Okay. I think I may have the exact change." (Monica)
"Mommy, can we eat now?" (Chad)
"As soon as Ciana gets here, we can eat." (Lisa)
"Has anyone seen Quentin? I wanted to invite him, but I haven't seen him for a couple of days." (Jasmine)
"I'm sure he's probably with his new girlfriend." (Kim)
"Dreary?" (Jasmine)
"Deidre." (Kim)
"Whatever!" (Jasmine)
"Ooh, do I detect a little jealousy?" (Carmen)
"Jealous? No. I just think he needs to stop treating his friends like they don't exist. We were here long before she showed up." (Jasmine)
"Is that why we didn't see you for a whole month when you met David last summer?" (Kim)
"Oh, let's not bring up that loser." (Jasmine)
Leslie and the kids finally arrive.
Monica gets her coffee and heads to the bank. She is sporting a new trench coat she picked up from Ni'Chalet's boutique that was designed by the local fashion designer, Debbie. Sidenote: She loves her new Disney body.
"Sorry we are a little late. Had to stop by the post office and they were moving ultra slow today. Then we had to made an emergency potty stop. Have you been waiting long?" (Leslie)
"About 10 mins. But it's been good to just sit and get out of that rain. What is going on with our weather? It's not like us to have rain steadily for a whole week." (Lisa)
"Speak of the devil. There's Quentin now." (Kim)
"Is he alone, or with her?" (Jasmine)
"Her is definitely with him." (Kim)
The other girls start laughing. Jasmine is not amused.
"What would you like?" (Quentin)
"I'll have the number 4." (Deidre)
"We'll have a number 4 and a number 2." (Quentin)
"That will be $9.75." (Cashier)
"Okay. We'll be back in a minute to pick it up." (Quentin to cashier)
"Hey, let's go say hi to my friends." (Quentin to Deidre)
"Stick Chad over here while you go get their lunch." (Leslie)
"What would you like?" (Lisa)
"Nothing. I am trying to lose about 5 lbs. Squeezing into that bridesmaid dress made me realize I have put on a few pounds." (Leslie)
"Maybe you're pregnant." (Lisa)
"No! I am definitely NOT pregnant." (Leslie)
"Well hello ladies. You guys remember Deidre." (Quentin)
"Hello." (Deidre)
All the ladies say hello, except Jasmine.
"Mommy, I think the baby is crying." (Ciana)
"No she's not. She is just cooinng. (Leslie)
"Two kid meals. That's $6.55." (Cashier)
"So has anyone heard from Danielle?" (Lisa)
"They are due back today. I can't wait to talk to her. I still don't know what happened at the reception. What a mess." (Leslie)
"Well, I need to thank her. Ever since the wedding, Charles has been in rare form. That wedding did something to him." (Lisa)
"Girl, I was thinking the same thing about David. Shoot, I need to make sure we are attending a wedding, somewhere, at least once every couple of months. I need to keep this thing going." (Lisa)
She and Lisa both start laughing.
"Is it me, or is she a little too old for him?" (Jasmine)
"Oh you are so wrong for that." (Angelica)
"I would love to stay and chat with you ladies, but one of us has to go study." (Kim)
"Make that two of us. I'm headed out too. I have to go finish my English paper." (Faith)
"Mommy I think the baby is crying now." (Ciana)
"I think you are right." (Leslie)
"Okay, Chelsea. mommy's coming. Chad, you sit over here and finish eating." (Lisa)
Chelsea stops crying the moment Lisa picks her up.
"Chad, please don't get in her seat." (Lisa)
Lisa and Leslie continue chatting while the kids eat. It's always nice getting together with friends. The college kids have all left and headed back to campus.
I love the menu and little signs posted on the wall where did ou find them your work is always fabulous. Did you make the table and seats too.
ReplyDeletemustiwait - Thanks. I got all my signs off the internet. The menus are mounted to foamcore. I made those benches and tables back when I came up with the original restaurant concept post. You can see it here: http://vansdolltreasures.blogspot.com/2011/10/restaurant-concept.html
DeleteI like how you were able to evoke the McDonald's decor without one of the overpriced McDonald's play sets. I like Quentin too. Wasn't he a Janay, Egyptian themed doll?
ReplyDeletelimbe dolls - Those sets are ridiculously priced these days. I bought one years ago at retail, but I misplaced a couple of key pieces. Just as well, this worked out just fine. Yes Quentin was a Janay Egyptian doll. I had never seen him before. I bought him from the May 5th doll show.
DeleteCongratulations on getting your Prince Tariq!
DeleteEverything looks great! I really like the college kids. And Ciana's jacket is darling.
ReplyDeleteAlura - Thanks. I like the college kids, too. I'm happy to incorporate them into the stories. Ciana's jacket is from a matching Barbie and Kelly Fashionista set. I don't have a clue where the Barbie jacket is. I have both pants and baseball caps.
DeleteI have the Egyptian Tariq doll too. Is Quentin's articulated body an action figure's one? I didn't know that it was possible to use them for Tariq dolls.
ReplyDeleteDukasha - Isn't your Tariq articulated? I didn't change his body. That is the body he came with. From what I can tell, it has never been swapped out.
DeleteIt is strange. As far as I know, the dolls of Janay line are never articulated. I have 11 Janay dolls and 2 Tariq dolls, none of them is articulated. I bought my Tariq NRFB on eBay. http://4put.ru/pictures/max/368/1132669.jpg (hope you'll not see any unnecessary photos near my photo this time).
DeleteDukasha - My apologies. I just went back and looked at a comment from an earlier post. Priya said he is on a Max Steel body. It is so perfect, I couldn't tell it wasn't his body. You can see Max Steel pictures, here. http://one-sixth.blogspot.com/2007/12/max-steel-ultra-action-body-spotters.html
DeleteThanks. I don't know much about Max Steel figures, but I saw at least one in my friend's photo stories. I never had an idea that such doll (or better to say such action figure?) could be a perfect donor for Egyptian Tariq. :)
DeleteVanessa and Dukasha, thanks for the reminder about the Max Steele bodies. Neat. I don't have an Egyptian Tariq, but maybe one of my other guys will fit the lone Max Steele body I have.
DeleteNext trick ... finding the Max Steele figure ;-D
D7ana - I was just recently introduced to Max Steele. He has a nice body. That's for sure. Muscles for days. Good luck finding yours.
DeleteThe young girls were funny. And Chad about to get in his sister's seat - typical ;-)
ReplyDeleteKenya - Oh to be a college kid again. NOT! College was fun, but I prefer the calmer life I lead now.
DeleteGreat details, the menus and all the McD's logos! Love Monica's new coat, it's so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteRossetti - Thanks. Monica will have to share that coat. She wasn't happy when I told her that.
DeleteI think Jasmine is jealous! I just love all the college kids, they're all so up-beat. The Mickey D's looks great!
ReplyDeleteVerona - If I am not mistaken, Jasmine had a chance to date Quentin early on, but turned him down. Funny how good people look to you once they have moved on. LOL!
DeleteHi Vanessa, love this! Great Job on everything! I had to bring myself back to reality...It all seemed so real while reading it! Lol!
ReplyDeleteTake care...
Loretta - Reality? Who needs reality when you can just live in a pretend world. LOL! Love ya! Say hello to THE MAN for me.
Deletehaha, Jasmine is priceless! I love her addittude! she's definitelly NOT jealous, at all ;) btw, she's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI admire you, you made so good job with this McDonalds, those tables and chairs are great. everything is very natural.
jewel snake - Thanks! Maybe Jasmine thought she was too pretty for Quentin. She is singing a different tune now.
DeleteLove the dio! Everything seems so real. Love all the attention to detail that you put in (wi-fi here) LOve it! Those burger look really good. If I ate meat, I would probably want one now! Great job!
ReplyDeleteChynadoll - Thanks! I didn't know you were a vegetarian. You find out something new every day. I don't eat at McDs, but my dolls love it.
DeleteLove the story and all the details! This was just like sitting at McDonald's people watching. I love to see eveyone hanging out enjoying some time together.
ReplyDeleteBrini - You people watch, too? That is the best thing about going to restaurants. This is the best way to get more doll stories told.
DeleteLove that red coat! That's the kind of coat to wear when you want to seduce someone. All the details just really give the place a MickeyD's vibe. I'm lovin' it! See what I did there? ^_^
ReplyDeleteMuff - Isn't that red coat fly? It was designed from a coat worn by this actress on a show about lawyers.
DeleteI see you girl. You really need to take your comedy act on the road.
I agree with the bunch! The detail is fantastic! Ooh and that red trench is fierce!
ReplyDeleteVita Plastica - Thanks. That red trench and all the rain we are having here is GA is what predicated all the raincoat sightings.
DeleteHello from Spain: each entry that you leave me amazed. This MacDonald is very real. How much beautiful furniture! The red coat wearing Monica's wonderful. I love a glass of coke. I also like Jasmine. As always, baby and kids act like real children. In my country, children's meals are called'' Happy meal'' and always give away a toy. I usually go far to MacDonald to take a very rich ice cream. I do not eat meat ever ... I prefer pasta or vegetables ... A great job! Keep in touch. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteMarta - Thanks! The coke is actually an eraser I bought from a store. Our kid meals are called Happy Meals, too. If you look at the first picture, there is a sign on the wall that says Happy Meal. I need to make some of the Happy Meal boxes. I didn't have time this time. That's so funny that you go for the ice cream, SO DO I! Nothing like an ice cream cone to help cool you off.
Deletelove it adore that photostory and i liked when lisa said to chad dont sit on chealsea's chair
ReplyDeletejassica - Thanks. Chad wanted to be the baby for a change.
DeleteNice photostory! Love your setup! You really know how to bring your stories to life. I get so excited when I log on and see that you have a new story up. I always save you post for last.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday Friend!
Georgia Girl - Happy Sunday! I get lost in the stories sometimes. I feel like I am right there with them experiencing their life up close and personal.
DeleteHi, Vanessa I love your stories and dolls. I just have one or to questions. Who is the star of your show?, or in other words what family is your main focus? I enjoy your show and how it reminds me of "Modern Family" and "Grey's and Anatomy", we get to see each families side of the story or stories. But at the same time you make all the characters fit in with the connections of each doll(person). Your show and other doll collectors make me want to do it myself and I really want to work on it, question is.... where do I start?
ReplyDeleteChristie - Thanks for stopping by. There is a core of families that started the whole show. If you click on the Character tab, they are shown under the "Main Middle Class Families". I think most doll story tellers start with a goal in mind. For some it may be telling their own family story. It may be just fun storytelling with a lot of drama involved. For me, initially I wanted to focus on showing positive Black family images. Of course my stories have gone far beyond that, but that was my start. Good luck. Let me know when you do start.
