Disney Articulated Body Review Part 2

Continuing with the Disney articulated body review.  If you missed part 1, you can see it here.  You can also see a very nice review of the Disney body on Ms. Leo's blog entitled, Another Road Trip  In this post I will briefly compare the Disney body to the LIV body and the Fashionista body.  For more detailed body comparisons, see Ms. Leo's post.

Here you see all three bodies.  LIV on the left, Disney in the middle, and Fashionista on the right.  As you can see, my Barbie Basics 3.0 #8 doll got the first Princess Tiana body.  It is a perfect match!  In this picture she is wearing Barbie heels, which makes her taller than the LIV doll and about the same height as the Fashionista doll.  Of course this will vary according to the size of heel on the shoe.

Here's another look of LIV and Disney with heels.

Here is a comparison shot of the hands.  The LIV hands never looked natural.  The Disney hands are nicely sculpted.

When you remove the heels from the Disney body, and she is flat footed, she is the same size as the LIV doll.  I really like that the Disney body can experience height changes, like in real life.  One thing to note, that I forgot to take a picture of, is the LIV body rotates at the waist.  The Disney body does not.

Here are all three girls again, with the Disney body now flat footed.  You can now see how her height compares to the Fashionista doll.

With heels, again.

I was asked to show if she can ride a horse.  The answer is yes.

The one drawback to the Disney body is her sitting ability.  Her legs can not close all the way.  I thought is would be worse than this.  She is fine sitting as long as she doesn't try to put on a mini skirt.

Here she is in a different type of chair.

Sideview.

Compared to the LIV doll.  I can live with this seating issue.  The benefits of this body far outweigh the minor seating problem.

So in conclusion.....  I LOVE this body.  The skin tone, the quality, the articulation, the possible height changes, the ability to wear all those Barbie shoes I already have, make this body an 8 out of 10 for me.  I will definitely buy more as the need arises.

Disney Articulated Body Pt. 1

"I'm here and I'm fabulous!"

July 4th Disney had a sale on their Classic Collection.  2 for $22 plus free UPS shipping.  I had never seen the dolls in person, so I wasn't sure what to expect.  I bought four total dolls.  Two of Princess Tiana, and two of Pocahontas.

The dress is cute enough that it can be used as a ballroom dress.

This is Tiana out of her box.  She comes with green painted on panties.  The first thing I noticed was the high quality body.  No flimsy joints like some of the fashionista bodies.  She came with the exact same articulation as the other dolls.  Yay!  She has nice hands unlike the LIV dolls.  (That comment if for you DBG.)

She has articulated ankles...

that can rotate all the way around.  Not sure why you would need to do that, but it's possible.

Here she is sporting a pair of Barbie high heels.

Her feet are small enough to fit Barbie shoes.  This is something the LIV bodies can't do.

So let's talk height.  With heels on, the Disney doll is almost the same height as the Barbie doll.

Of course, with her flat feet, she is a tad shorter, which makes perfect sense.  She will probably be a great height for the Ken sized doll.  In Part II, I will compare her height to a LIV doll, too.

She seems to be a really good color match for Kara, BB 3.0 #8 and some of the Christie's.  She is not a good color match for the darker skin toned dolls.  Oh goodness, I only bought two of these bodies and already I have three dolls waiting in line.  BB 3.0 will definitely get one.

I didn't open my Pocahontas doll yet, but it seems like she would be a perfect body match for S.I.S. Marisa.

I will continue the body review another day, where I will actually make a body swap, and continue comparing this body with the fashionista and the LIV body.

Happy 4th of July - Disney Articulation Sale

Happy Independence Day!  This is not the post I had planned, but there's a Disney sale and a chance for you to add some new characters or new articulated bodies to your collection.  TODAY only, the classic Disney dolls, all of which are articulated, are available 2 for $22 and FREE SHIPPING.  That works out to $11 per doll.  There are many more sales on the site, www.disneystore.com.  To go directly to the available dolls, click here.   All images below are property of the DisneyStore.

Here's Princess Tiana.  This seems to be a nice body for the darker skinned dolls.

This picture of Snow White shows a little more of the articulation.  Please note the dolls have flat feet but articulated ankles.  I would imagine like the LIV dolls they can still wear some heels.  I think this is a nice design for ballet dolls.

Here is Mulan.  Seems like she may just be able to fit right into a regular collection  as is.  She would add some nice variety.

The Pocahontas doll better illustrates the articulation of these dolls.  I like that Disney gave all the dolls, regardless of skin color, the same articulation.  (Mattel are you listening).

The next three images will show a few of the men.  Of course, there are quite a few more on the site.  I wanted to show their articulation which is different than the ladies.

All of the outfit packs are included in the 2 for $22 sale, as well.

This horse is NOT part of the two for sale, but he would still get free shipping.  I wanted to show him because he too is articulated.  He is listed for $24.50.

This little lady is not a fashion doll.  She is 16".  She was too cute not to include on my blog post.

SOOOO.....  I have to check out a few of these dolls for myself.   It was D7ana, who first called my attention to the articulated Disney dolls.  I'm surprised I didn't know about them.  Well I hope they are a nice surprise when the get here.
