I put my foot in my mouth the other day when I said Dasia had a husband waiting for dinner. You guys jumped right on that, and I knew I would need to go find her a husband. My initial thought was that he would just be one of those husbands no one ever sees, but the excitement a few of you had about meeting her family sent me on a hunt. I knew it wouldn't be easy.
In my search I ran across, Captain America: The Falcon, and I was blown away. He was so detailed and life-like. I wanted to reach out and touch him. He was too young to be Dasia's husband, but he sure would make a nice son. His full figure price retailed for $240. I was able to find his head, but even that was $49 (free shipping). More than I wanted to pay. But as I searched and searched, I realized that $49 was cheap compared to what others were selling his head for. I already have extra new bodies here, so I took the plunge.
I'm just getting the head, but I wanted to share the full figure with you.
So my search for Dasia's husband continued. Debbie of Black Doll Collecting shared a link to a fabulous Danny Glover figure, but he's really new and I couldn't find his head anywhere. So I continued looking. I finally ran across a figure at Cotswold Collectibles, I thought could work. He was a Kaustic Plastik nude full figure for $49 + shipping. More than I wanted to pay, but at least I would be getting a head and an awesome body. It took me a few hours to decide, but again I took the plunge. You folks sure can persuade a girl to spend some money. I'm putting Dasia back to work.
I think Ms. Dasia is going to be very happy!
By the way, is the blog still readable with the new bluish background? If not, let me know and I will make the necessary changes.
Wow, $49 is a steal for a Hot Toys head! Nice find! That Hot Toys Falcon is on my "someday" list, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with that head.
ReplyDeletejSarie - Normally I can find the Hot Toy heads I want in the $24 range, so this was a bit of an adjustment, but he's definitely worth it. I'm looking forward to his arrival in a few weeks.
Delete$24 usually, eh? I must be looking in the wrong places! Good to know though - I need to shop smarter, it seems! :)
DeleteCongrats on finding Dasia's mate!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is readable. I miss the distinctive green, but I will become accustomed to this design. Reminds me that I need to clean up my blog ....
D7ana - Dasia and I are both happy to have new men coming. It was time for the green to go. This change was a spur of the moment thing. If I had planned to make the change, it would have taken me forever. You know how that goes.
DeleteLOL @"It was time for the green to go."
DeleteI hear you. And yes, spur-of-the-moment changes go through quicker than deliberating and mulling over things ;-)
Hi Vanessa, WOW you found a wonderful family for Dasia, can't wait to see them in action!
ReplyDeleteThe blog is readable even on my phone, so it's perfect!
billa's dolls - I hope Dasia is happy when they arrive. It will be interesting to see the dynamics when they all get together.
DeleteOh yes, Dasia is going to be very, very happy!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your new background.
Linda - I can't wait for her to meet her family. I hope she's happy with my choices. I tried to make her proud.
DeleteThose dolls are amazing. I love Hot Toys dolls! They are so lifelike. I have the Micheal Caine head and I got a body for him but I'm having trouble getting the head to stay on.
ReplyDeleteTam - There are some really nice sculpts out there. I hadn't been looking, so it was nice to see what the new selections. You may need to get a different neck bob for your Michael head. You can buy separate neck bobs on most of the action figure sites.
DeleteI forgot to mention that I think your new background looks great.
ReplyDeleteAfter I wipe the drool up from my computer desk, I can tell you that that Falcon figure is AWESOME! I may have to add him to my wish list! Dasia's new husband is also very nice -- what a body! Can't wait to see the interaction between these characters and what interesting stories you will tell! So how well are you doing on your 10 doll limit now?
ReplyDeletePhyllis - Glad to know I wasn't the only one drooling. Dasia must be feeding her husband some good, healthy food. Brother got the body looking tight. As I mentioned in a couple of previous posts, I was never intending to include action figures on the 10 doll limit. I can never have enough AA male figures here. And they are so hard to come by, I would never risk waiting if it was one I really wanted. It is the excess of female dolls that was giving me a headache every time I went in the doll room.
DeleteOh, I like the rule of not including Action Figures in the count! My doll buying has also slowed down. I am needing to trim down the number of ladies I have too, but I have learned that if I see something I really, really want, I have more regrets later if I don't get it that if I did not. And the male action figures give you so much more variety in your collection too. BTW, I really like your new blog background. I have no trouble reading with it.
DeleteBoth guys look promising. Can't wait to see them on your photos:)
ReplyDeleteNatalia - I will have to make Dasia's husband some clothes, too. I'm not sure I have clothes that will fit that buff body.
DeleteOk Mrs Dasia..... I'm with the ladies I can't wait to see Dasia cook, her home , and her YES family! Good looking men, you've got work to do...(FAMILY) no rush :-) NICE BACK GROUND
ReplyDeleteLadonna - I think I've decided to give Dasia my Sindy kitchen. No one has claimed it yet, and I think it will be perfect for her. Maybe these men will give me the push I need to get back to dios.
DeleteFalcon is handsome! He definitely a looker, just like his father. Great choices. I think those bodies are so cool that you can find with the heads already.
ReplyDeleteThe blue background looks good.
Janainah - Yes, Falcon is very handsome. He will be very popular when he arrives in town.
DeleteBoth men look awesome, Dasia is one lucky woman to have a beautiful husband and son! I bet she'll trouble keeping all the women away.
ReplyDeleteLeandra - The curvy women get all the luck. New wardrobe. Handsome husband and son. I think Dasia will do a great job keeping the women away from her husband. Now that son of hers will probably be trouble when it comes to the ladies.
DeleteOh yes, I remember this character from the Captain America movie. He's a very handsome action figure indeed. Too bad about Danny Glover, but I think you found a good substitute. My hubby was impressed by the detail on both guys.
ReplyDeleteJewell - I will probably find the Danny Glover head later. There are other ladies in town that would probably love to meet him.
DeleteDasia's men are both hunks! Does her son know Danielle's brother? Looking forward to story lines with these characters.
ReplyDeletelimbe dolls - If I can't have hunky men in my real life, gosh darn it, I will have them in my playscale life. I'm sure Falcon and Ian have crossed paths a time or two. I think he hangs out with Kobe Bryant a lot.
DeleteI soooo want Falcon and I hope he wants to relocate to Dotsville too, lol. I like that Kaustic Plastik doll, he needs to come to Dotsville too. He can be Princess Tiana father now that I really think about it. I like the new look too and I hope to update my soon.
ReplyDeleteBrini - I'm sure both men would love to live in Dotsville. That's a pretty happening place.
DeleteI am glad that I was able to add both to my collection.
ReplyDeleteMale Doll World - I'm not surprised you have both men. You have the most extensive action figure collection I know of.
DeleteWhat a hunk!!! Lucky, lucky Dasia. You'll need to pull this dude out of the woodworks and show him off!!! I'm sure Daia will agree!
ReplyDeleteapril - Hubby arrived today. He's even better in person. Stay tuned for a post about him later this week.
ReplyDeleteHe is a hunk! Even if he can't fix his own plate! LOL!
ReplyDeleteMs. Leo - You can never have too many hunks in town. It's nice to have one for the older ladies.
DeleteI can't wait to see them "together".
