Diana has dinner cooking on the stove. She and Brandy are enjoying a cold drink and catching up.
"So what's going on with that little fella you told me about?" (Diana)
"I wish I knew. Things were going really well, but lately he seems to be too busy to spend any time with me." (Brandy)
"Well that doesn't sound too good. But it's probably for the best. You need to focus on your studies, anyway." (Diana)
"Yes, but all work and no play, makes for a very boring college experience." (Brandy)
"I'm not saying don't have some fun. I'm just saying a serious relationship may be too much for a freshman, who's trying to make the Dean's list. You know how distracting men can be." (Diana)
"Speak of the devil." (Diana to Brandy)
"Honey, dinner is just about ready. Another ten minutes should do the trick." (Diana to Billy)
"Well it smells good." (Billy)
"Mmmm." (Billy)
"So what are you ladies talking about?" (Billy)
"Men." (Diana)
"Oh, say it isn't so." (Billy)
"Oh Dad. You do realize that at some point your little girl is going to be getting married and having kids." (Brandy)
"Yes, but didn't you and I agree that wouldn't happen until you were 30 or 35ish?" (Billy)
"Really, Dad? No, I would never agree to something like that." (Brandy)
"Honey, stop badgering your daughter. Let me up, so I can finish getting dinner ready." (Diana)
So now about this new pink kitchen. This is what it looks like in the box.
It is very similar to the Kenmore kitchen, except it only has three pieces. This version can also be seen in a, harder to find, red and silver color. I saw pictures of this pink set on Flickr and checked Amazon. It was marked down from $49 to $29 with free shipping on orders over $35. I just checked, and they had only one left, available for the free shipping, and it had gone up to $32. They do have several others that are a little more expensive, but not too bad. Just search for "Modern Kitchen" in toys. When I bought it, I planned to paint the pink a more realistic kitchen color. I may stain the pink cabinets cherry and make the door handles silver. I am open to suggestions.
Here it it out of the box. The pieces are separate and it comes with a ton of cool accessories.
The stove is battery operated. It makes sizzling frying sounds, and the lights come on in the oven and on top of the stove. The one issue I have with this set is the stove top. Ir has four raised buttons (that light up), where the pots sit. It doesn't look like a real stove top.
Other than that, I have no complaints. It comes with the two pots you see on the stove. The tall pot also has a lid. There are two medium sized silver pots with lids and 4 silver plates. It comes with a little food; 2 lemons, 2 oranges, 2 carrots, a half a watermelon, and two small cartons of juice.
It comes with 3 red glasses. It has two separate pieces of ice cubes, that don't quite fit in these glasses. The silver salt and pepper shakers were included.
And so were the pie holder and the tray full of silver accessories.
I am very happy with my new kitchen. This particular company, created some other gorgeous playsets, that came out a few years ago. I forgot to get the name of the company that made this set. I will update this post, when I get that information.
P.S. I'm sure Diana could have made this pink kitchen look a lot better with different tables and some nice kitchen art. It's another case of me using what was nearby to limit my travels.
I purchased 2 of these kitchens about 2 years ago on ebay from a seller in China. I got the Red kitchen and the Blue kitchen, which I like very much. My kitchens are both 4 piece. I have seen a few of the 4 piece kitchens on ebay for around $60 plus shipping. There used to be an abundance of these on ebay, but now I don't see them as often. I think the 3 piece version is what you see the most of now. I will say that it is a very nice kitchen set and is well worth the money.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are back posting. Hope your mobility continues to improve.
Phyllis - Have you seen some of the other playsets from this company? They were fabulous. I saw some pictures, but I don't think they are still available. My Kenmore set has four pieces. I almost bought another one of these sets since the price was so good. But I still have at least 4 kitchen sets that have yet to be seen. People are selling that Kenmore set for crazy prices on ebay.
Deletethis is my absolute favorite 1/6 scale playset of all time! I don't mind the pink the way you've shown in your story with the rug. Diana even has on a pink shirt to coordinate lol!
ReplyDeleteTeva - I thought about making it a pink and green kitchen and making Diana a member of the AKA sorority. I just didn't have what I needed at hand to pull it off. That would have been fun to do.
DeleteI have the red kitchen play set! I bought it for £15 from a local store. Its awesome but the bottom cabinets are a bit low, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteLaura - Great deal! Have you seen the other sets where you live? It's really easy to raise these sets a little by adding a piece of wood underneath the bottom cabinets. I did it for my Kenmore set. I will probably do the same for this set once I move it to the basement.
DeleteGreat set and great post! I have been looking at those sets on line for a while. You took nice photos too! Congrats on getting them!
ReplyDeleteMs. Leo - Thanks. I ordered as soon as I saw it on flickr and saw that it was under $30. I knew others would be ordering it, too. I was so right. Six sets sold in a matter of days.
DeleteHello from Spain: I have the same kitchen. I painted it red. Nice furniture. Nice pics. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteMarta - It is very nice furniture. I like it in red, too.
DeleteI love that kitchen, it´s really wonderful!!! Congrats for it ;)
ReplyDeleteDiana is just like my mom i love your vids and where can you get this kicthen i am in maryland
ReplyDeleteRuby - The best place to get this kitchen for a decent price is on Amazon. It is not sold in local stores in the states.
DeleteCool new kitchen set. Yay for sharing it with us. Neat that you have the Kenmore kitchen, too. That was sweet. Almost miss mine. (Sold it.) But I can get over selling accessories quicker than I can certain dolls.
ReplyDeleteLove the family relationships here. Diana serious, Billy more playful.
I'm glad you're back telling stories ;-D
D7ana - I remember you were going to sell your Kenmore kitchen. I'm glad you finally got around to it. Diana and Brandy have a great close mother-daughter relationship, but you are right about mom being more serious.
DeleteI've had this kitchen in my Amazon wish list for months. I'm trying to hold out to get one for reward points but it's about 5 sets down from others I want. Amazon does have the red kitchen with 3 sets (49.99!) and the pink set with 4 pieces (36.15). I've got those on my wish list too, lol.
ReplyDeleteMuff - The 4 piece pink set never came up in my search. Can you drop me an email and let me know if it's the same name as this set? Come to think of it, the red set didn't come up either. I guess I will go take another look.
DeleteVanessa, I did some work for collecting information about these kitchen sets this year. There are red, blue, pink, dark pink, yellow versions, I also saw a pink version with other pink color instead of silver, so it was all pink. They are usually named "Modern Comfort" or "Modern Kitchen", but there are some other names, including Russian versions. Many of these kitchens have stickers with cartoon or movie characters on them. Some kitchens have versions with a doll included. All kitchens have "2 in 1", "3 in 1" and "4 in 1" versions (2, 3 and 4 pieces), and "2 in 1" sets are different, some kitchens have 3 versions of "2 in 1" sets, some have 5. Most of them are made by company named QUNFENG TOYS INDUSTRIAL CO, LTD, but there is also a "Joy Toy" kitchen and "Zhorya" kitchen (both red) and others. The most known in Russia version is the red "Modern Comfort" kitchen made by Goldlok. They also have bathroom sets, living-room sets, dining room sets, bedroom sets and laundry sets ("2 in 1" - two versions or only one version, "3 in 1" and "4 in 1") in the "Modern Comfort" line. All MC furniture, we saw in Russia, was not pink, though they have pink versions of all those sets on promo photos on their site now.

Dukasha - Thanks for all the wonderful information about these sets. I will research the company just for my own benefit. Before I ordered this set, I saw a lot of different, beautiful sets, including laundry, living room and bathroom. I will check out the link you sent as well. Thanks, again.
DeleteLove those sets! Hopefully, I'll manage to buy at least one. :-)
ReplyDeleteTracy - I hope you are able to get one, too. They are very well made.
Delete4 piece set.
ReplyDeleteRed set
Here you go.
Muff - Thanks. I actually just found the pink 4 piece set. The dishwasher doesn't have anything inside. That's a little strange. But I would have bought this set if I had seen it. Gives me a reason to buy a second set, which I wanted anyway.
DeleteI like your new kitchen ! Did you get it on ebay ?
ReplyDeleteShasarignis - Thanks. No I bought it on Amazon. I also ordered the 4 piece set because it was about $5 more than this set. I didn't see it the first time I ordered this on. I'm going to paint the 4 piece set and leave this one pink.
DeleteI think it looks great - the accessories don't have to be all matchy matchy ;-) BUT - I can't wait to see it painted.
ReplyDeleteKenya - I ended up buying this same set as a 4 piece set. The 4 piece has a microwave and dishwasher. That's the one I will be painting.
