It's 9:00am Monday morning and China is in her office. She hears a knock on the door.
"Come in." (China)
"Good morning, Vanessa. How are you and what brings you by this morning?" (China)
"I'm here to report that my son is being bullied by a student here." (Vanessa)
"Come on in and sit down." (China)
"Now tell me, what happened?" (China)
Vanessa tells China exactly what Tyler told her.
"That is crazy. I need to get the principal in here right away." (China)
"Mr. Reed, we have a situation that you need to hear about. Are you available to talk to one of our parents?" (China through the intercom)
"I'll just come to your office. I will be right there." (Principal)
"I'm so sorry this happened. How's Tyler doing now?" (China)
"He's better now that it's out in the open, but he's still scared, so I kept him out of school today." (Vanessa)
"This bullying thing is so out of hand and I didn't want to take any chances of retaliation." (Vanessa)
"I would have done the same thing. Our children have enough to deal with, without that added stress." (China)
Just then, Mr. Kaseem Reed, the principal, enters the office.
"Mr. Reed this is Vanessa Morrison and her son is a victim of bullying." (China)
"Hello Mrs. Morrison. Pleasure to meet you. I'm so sorry to hear about your son." (Mr. Reed)
"Can you tell me what happened?" (Mr. Reed)
Again, Vanessa explains what Tyler relayed to her.
"I'm sorry to hear that. We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to bullying, so we will get to the bottom of this and take the appropriate action." (Mr. Reed)
"China, can you set up a meeting with me and the student in question?" (Mr. Reed)
"After that meeting, we will get the parents involved." (Mr. Reed)
"Okay, I will get right on that." (China)
"We will follow up and get to the bottom of this. Again, I am so sorry and I promise to handle this swiftly." (Mr. Reed)
Vanessa left there feeling a little better, but she's anxiously awaiting a call from the principal to get some closure to this whole ordeal.
I made some pants a couple days ago, and China was the lucky one to get to wear them.
They go quite well with the sweater I purchased from Gabi-5mates.
Hopefully everything ends soon for Tyler and his family, I´m sure it´s a very difficult situattion for them. Good job from school ;)
ReplyDeleteAna - Thanks. We are all hoping for closure without incident. Poor Tyler needs to be back in school learning, not dealing with these distractions.
DeleteWhoosh! I was so worried 1:6 Vanessa was going to incited a riot with her madness! I'm thankfully that the principal has zero tolerance for bullies, and didn't use the "boys will be boys" excuse.
ReplyDeleteVerona - Keith had a talk with her before she left this morning. He stressed the importance of not adding fuel to the fire, and giving the authorities time to address the issue. If he had uttered those words, 'boys will be boys', I think Vanessa would have lost it and gone upside his head.
DeleteCool pants and a nice top as well. I enjoy the realism and day to day feel of your posts. Always nice to keep up with the goings on in your world.
ReplyDeleteDuke of Swann - Thanks. I plan to sew more in the coming days and weeks.
DeleteThe doll for China is so pretty and reminds me Of Kelly Rowland. They are all beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHello from Spain: bullying students also suffer in my country. The directors of the school are taking strong measures to expel from school bullies. Your story is very real. I really like your sewed pants. Great job. And also really like the teacher's computer. It's very real. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteMarta - Thanks. Seems like bullying is universal. That's really sad. China loves her new pants. She doesn't know it yet, but she's going to have to share them with the others.
DeleteNice work with the pants! I sincerely hope they can get some closure about Tyler's case, poor kid!
ReplyDeleteV. - Thanks. Vanessa will give them a little time to address the situation before she goes back with guns blazing.
DeleteI was afraid that Vanessa would already go in with guns blazing! LOL But better she didn't. Cool pants. I've been having urges to sew clothes for the Moreville residents lately myself, but I just don't have time right now. Too much going on...:-)
ReplyDeleteCindi - She wanted to go in with guns blazing, buy she had to think of her son and how this might affect him. I need to spend weeks just sewing. I have so much material to sew up.
DeleteThe pants look great... and I love that Vanessa is standing up for her kid, and not just blowing him off and telling him to toughen up... I hate when parents do that.
ReplyDeleteHeather - Thanks! I hate when parents do that, too. Sometimes parents just don't get it.
DeleteBy the way, I've tried a number of times to comment on your blog, but for some reason it gets hung up. I will try again in the next few days.
It's nice to finally see parents and even celebrities taking a stand against bullying. Hopefully this will prompt more movie making on the subject. It is after all 2013, and you'd think we'd be more developed by now. Thank for the great story, Vanessa.
ReplyDeleteDebbie - It's so rampant. You would think there would be even more attention to it. Vanessa is doing her part.
DeleteYour new guy makes a nice principal. He has such a serious look on his face and principals probably usually do.
ReplyDeleteBullying is a serious situation. Now even adults are being bullying.
Nice sweater and the pants you made are as well.
dbg
DBG - Isn't he the perfect principal? I found him just in time. The only other doll I had to use was my white Happy Family granddad.
DeleteDid you see the crazy story of the NFL player who left the Miami football team because his team mates were bullying him? Crazy.
You got the right guy for the principal. I am interested in seeing who was the bully too! Maybe the school could do a program on bullying.
ReplyDeleteMs. Leo - I found him just in time for this story and he is perfect for the part. It would be nice to do a bullying program in school. I may just have Adele do one in her class.
DeleteHi Vanessa! But that great office! I to love every detail. China is super modern, I like your style. A kiss
ReplyDeletekarmen - Thanks. I'm glad you like the office. China loves her job and her office.
DeleteThat went a lot calmer than I thought it would but then again she hasn't met the bully and his folks.
ReplyDeleteThose are sweet pants!
Muff - You must remember, this is my doll alter ego, and just like me, she has a quiet calm about her and tries to get her point across without too much yelling and screaming....at first. Let's hope they don't get to see that other crazy side.
DeleteIt's usual to have this kind of situations at school... the important thing is that the victim feels he's being cared of, and that the authorities at school handle the situation as fast as possible. I hope everything goes well! Lovely pants, by the way!!
ReplyDeleteRossetti - Thanks. I do think the principal will handle the situation properly. I sure hope so for his sake, or he will see a side of Vanessa that he doesn't want to see.
DeleteBeautiful outfit. I love the wording in this. You didn't write, ""Mr. Reed this is Vanessa Morrison and SHE SAID her son is a victim of bullying." Loved Mr. Reed's response too. We had a Mr. Reed who is no longer at the school so I was already to get an attitude at the name but he came in professional ;-)
ReplyDeleteKenya - Tharks. Mr. Reed is named after the mayor of Atlanta. He's a 40ish yr old brother that has been doing a great job. So I knew he would make the perfect principal.
