Georgia Girl requested progress pictures of the pink Victorian house. I decided to try a new spray paint that I saw in Home Depot a few months ago. It states that is 2X the coverage. What really caught my eye was the $3.87 price tag. Double the coverage and half the price? Worth a try.
They have a ton of colors. I decided to try the sage green. Caution. I am spray paint challenged. LOL! I am just too impatient to do a light spray and wait, etc. So most of my spray paint projects will have major paint drips on them. I will start by saying, I love this paint! Definitely worth buying some more. It has incredible coverage and works for even the impatient painter, such as myself.
So this is the progress so far. I plan to paint the roof black and the windows will be another color, possibly cream, but I'm still deciding. I want to do something nice to the porch, too. This took me all of 7 mins to accomplish. I told you I was impatient. I am happy with the results so far, and I will continue on this journey. I'm sure if I ever want to restore it back to it's original pink color, I can do so with a little paint remover.
Just in case you forgot what the pink looked like.
I have to replenish the Etsy store, so I will be making new items several times a week. I started today with an order of empanadas. An empanada is a stuffed bread or pastry baked or fried in many countries in South Europe, Latin America and parts of Southeast Asia. The name comes from the Galician, Portuguese and Spanish verb empanar, meaning to wrap or coat in bread.
"Oh good. Food." (Grace)
"Would you like to try one?" (Grace)
"In a minute. Let me look at you." (Kevin)
"There's something different about you. What is it?" (Kevin)
"Oh, I stopped by the Mane Event and India gave me some highlights." (Grace)
"I don't know what highlights are, but I think I like them." (Kevin)
Kevin and Grace take a seat. Kevin can't take his eyes off of Grace. He can't get over how a change in hairstyle can make his girl so sexy.
Empanadas will be hitting the Etsy store sometime today. Every thing is loose on the plate to provide maximum play.
Hey Vanessa love sage green, this paint looks good. I like that it is glossy...the piece doesn't look dull or washed out. I have some things needing a good paint job. Shopping trip!! Thanks! Hope you are resting a bit...lot of work! XO
ReplyDeleteLoretta - This is great paint. I highly recommend it. I rest when I work. LOL! I painted this after bathing the dog and before mowing the lawn. Then I made the doll food.
DeleteI really like the color you chose for the house. I think it will allow the colors you choose for window and porch to really pop. And all of 7min? That's what I'm talking about. ;)
ReplyDeleteUgh, now I'm going to find something to stuff my face with. The food you make always makes me hungry.
Tracy - I think the green will go with lots of other color combos, in the event I change my mind. You know I am always pressed for time, so 7 mins works for me.
DeleteOh, really like your new Grace. Sometimes I see photos of her and I'm like...eh, I'll pass. Your photos make me want to reconsider her.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see she's working it out with Kevin. They have a lovely family together.
Tracy - I didn't realize how much I liked Grace until I saw a picture of her on Flickr. I really like her now. I think you should buy her while she is out. Keep her in the box and if you decide you don't want her, you can sell her or have another articulated body. How many Artsy dolls did you buy just for bodies. Buy Grace!
DeleteYou're right, Kara and Grace's complexions are a definite demand for articulation. I hope to see her next month when I venture into Target or Walmart. :)
DeleteI brought that same paint a while ago. I love it! The food looks so yummy!
ReplyDeleteChynadoll - Thanks. This paint is fabulous. I hate spray painting. I'm just not good at it. I much prefer painting with brushes, but takes too long on these big houses.
DeleteOne word. DE-LISH LOL! And the new Grace looks so much more chic and mature. Although Kevin should think she's sexy All the time ;).
ReplyDeleteVerona - Thanks. I think this Grace is particularly more chic. I'm just glad Kevin noticed there was something a little different about her. Sometimes we can get a whole new look, and our men never even notice. So disheartening.
DeleteI like the choice of sage green for the Victorian House.
ReplyDeleteThe empanadas look appetizing.
dbg
DBG - Fingers crossed that the house will look great when I finish. Mrs. Langford is pleased with the progress so far, but she is trying to get me to hurry, so she can move on to the kitchen remodel. Good thing she has deep pockets.
DeleteI love the new color. I can vision it with the creme. That will truly make the color pop. Thanks for sharing progress pics and for sharing the paint info. I will be taking a trip to Home Depot very soon. This price beats Walmart.
ReplyDeleteThe empandas looks so real and delicious!
Georgia Girl - Thanks and you are welcome. If you hadn't asked for pictures, this project may have been pushed off for awhile. But I've been wanting to try this paint out so it's a win-win. It really has great coverage. Spray paint prices have been steadily climbing.
DeleteI love this green, too! I can't wait to see it furnished!
ReplyDeleteThe food looks so realistic, I am hungry :)
Rosemary - Hello friend. Green is one of my favorite colors. Must be it's association with money. Hope you found something great to eat.
DeleteI need to have a paint party and just dump a bunch of stuff on a drop cloth and get it over with. This might be the paint to try it with.
ReplyDeleteThat food and Grace look tempting!
Muff - You will love this paint. It's very forgiving and reasonably priced. My advice is buy Grace. For $12.99, fully articulated, with
Deletea great outfit, and slamming sunglasses, you just can't go wrong.
Hello from Spain: the empanada is the typical food of my city. It's kind of pizza but richer. It is a meal to take on any occasion. I really like your work with the Victorian house. I have it but I just can not bring myself to paint. My Barbie will have to continue living in a pink house ... We keep in touch.
ReplyDeleteMarta - I figured you would know about empanadas. I have a real recipe for mushroom-spinach ones that I want to try to make. In the meantime, the dolls will enjoy them. I can see why you wouldn't want to paint the house. I'm looking forward to the transformation.
DeleteThanks for the new paint endorsement ;-)
ReplyDeleteI like the sage green color. Looks good.on the exterior. Thanks for sharing your progress photos. Fun to see the place come alive.
Grace and Kevin look cute together. Crossing my fingers that they stay together ;)
D7ana - They have so many great colors in this paint. I need to go back and buy more. I'm glad to see Kevin and Grace working it out, too.
DeleteLove the paint tip. I was thinking of painting the loving family house but was undecided. And your empanadas are so great ! I think Grace looks great with highlights.
ReplyDeleteLisa - Thanks. I'm always on the fence about painting these houses, but now I think there are two more that will be getting painted soon. I love this new Grace.
DeleteThanks for leading the way with the paint project. I have one of these houses I would like to paint but I was afraid to take the plunge. Yours is turning out great so maybe I will tackle mine this summer.
ReplyDeletelimbe dolls - I agree it's scary painting these houses, but this paint is giving me courage to continue on. I want to paint the A frame house, too. We will see.
DeleteI really like the color you chose for the house. I agree that a cream color for the trim will make that green pop. I have some hideous pink furniture I hope to paint someday. Time always seems to get away from me. Love Grace! Is she one of the new Baby Phat dolls? :-)
ReplyDeleteCindi - Thanks. Yes that is the new Baby Phat Grace. I love her.
DeleteGreat empanadas, or empanadillas, as we call them in Spain when they are this size... do you do them yourself? nice images! regards!
ReplyDeleteCyborgdoll - Thanks! Yes, I made these.
Deletethose foods look delicious i am hungry all of a sudden! a question about the character pages. when are you going to update the characters, for example, shouldn't danielle be next to rodrick now with the kids becuz they are married now and when kendra has the baby shouldnt the baby be in the picture with them?
ReplyDeletecoolsinger - Thanks. Yes, I have plans to update the character pages....one day. Right after they introduce an eighth day of the week. LOL! All I can say is, it's on the long list of things to do.
DeleteAnytime pink gets covered it’s kudos in my book. Is the paint designed for plastic?
ReplyDeleteYour Empanadas look deeeelish!
Roville - Oh yes, I remember your love for the color pink. LOL. Yes, this paint is designed for plastic. If you look at the yellow strip on the paint can, it says plastic in big letters. That was the other thing that caught my attention.
DeleteThe house is going so well! The painting looks great, and it makes such a change, far better than the pink... And the empanadas look yummy, my mother used to do them when I was a child, I loved them (and I still love them now LOL)
ReplyDeleteRossetti - Thanks. Once I figure out what I'm going to do with the front porches, I think I will be home free and I can get it done pretty quickly after that. I hope to make some real empanadas one day soon.
DeleteA really beautiful color you've choose! I'm always repainting my plastic furniture as well :) Can't wait to see the house finished!
ReplyDeleteThe Mexican food looks really tasty. Unfortunately I never ate such, looks like dolls are more lucky in this case :/
jewel snake - Thanks. I've never tasted empanadas myself. My dolls get to have all the fun.
DeleteThat empanada is good looking! I'm Galician, and is a typical dish! I love making them and also eating them! haha! And yours although not real, I eat them too!
ReplyDeleteGreetings!
Farbield - Wow, you are Galician. I never would have imagined I had one reading my blog. I'm glad you like the empanadas. What's your favorite kind? I'm looking for ideas of what to make for myself.
DeleteGrace is looking very lovely, I love the highlights and new hair style!
ReplyDeleteI love the progress pics too, I like the color you chose quite a lot.
And mmmm... fooooood *drool*
Heather - They did a really nice job on Grace's new hairdo. I hope to have more progress pictures soon.
DeleteIt's spring and I have hair color fever - so this didn't help. I always regret color because it dries out my hair but its so pretty! The empanadas look good too. I've only ever had one a Taco Bell. It was an apple empanada.
ReplyDeleteKenya - I love hair color, too! I've only had it once, though because of the drying out. But it can do so much to change a look. Hmmm, I wonder how many points an apple empanada is?
DeleteI love that paint. You know I will be going to get some soon. LOL The empanadas look tasty and I agree with Kevin. Grace looks really glowing with her hair change.
ReplyDeleteGrandmommy - I want to get as much as I can before they start raising that price. You know. They have the prettiest colors, too.
DeleteJust want to let you know I found some at Walmart. I have not bought any yet, but will soon!
