Keith has just put the finishing touches on the Burkes handmade crib. He's expecting Dr. Burke any minute now. He's stopping by to approve the crib and select they type finish they would like.
Keith gives it one more look. He still has some sanding to do. He can hear the shop door opening and in walks Dr. Burke.
"Wow, man. I'm impressed. Kendra is going to love it." (Dr. Burke)
"I'm glad to hear that." (Keith)
Keith proceeds to point out some of the fine details.
"Mind if I put it on the floor so I can gauge the height?" (Dr. Burke)
"Please do. That way you can test out the rocker, too." (Keith)
"It's perfect. We will be able to use this for our future babies, too." (Dr. Burke)
"As for the finish, Kendra said surprise her." (Dr. Burke)
"Really?" (Keith)
"Yes. She said she trust you and knows that you will make it look nice." (Dr. Burke)
"I can't thank you enough. When do you think I will be able to pick it up?" (Dr. Burke)
"I should have it ready within two weeks. I'll give you a call and let you know." (Keith)
I need a Carrie Bradshaw cabinet for my upcoming wardrobe, do yo you think Keith could do this for me, Vanessa?
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm Christie btw
Christie - Keith says he has no idea what a Carrie Bradshaw cabinet is. He check the internet and couldn't find one.
DeleteSorry for Christie's comment Vanessa, my dolls don't understand that they can't steal my internet.
DeleteChristie wants a big cabinet where to keep her actual clothes and other clothes she will choose from a lot I bought one week ago. In Sex&The City tv show, Carrie Bradshaw had one of the most huge cabinet ever seen, that's why "Carrie Bradshaw cabinet". Christie is a fan of the show.
Sergio - LOL! Christie is taking over. You better keep an eye on her. Her request threw me off because she said cabinet. We refer to that as a closet. I wasn't sure if there was something new that I wasn't aware of. I am also a big fan of Sex and the City. When Keith gets a free moment, I'll have him try a few closets.
DeleteIs this your first piece? Amazing! Love the details...XO
ReplyDeleteLoretta - Thanks! This is my second doll furniture piece. The first was a rocking horse.
DeleteThat is so nice. Kendra will love it.
ReplyDeleteMustiwait - Thanks. Kendra has been oohing and ahhing over all things baby, so I'm sure she is going to love this, too.
DeleteBeautiful crib and I'm sure Kendra will love it. But it's always worrying when a client says, "Do whatever you think best - I trust you." I hope Keith has some ideas of the rest of Kendra's decorating plans.
ReplyDeleteCarrickters - Thanks. Yes, it's a little nerve wrecking when a client leaves it all up to the craftsman. In this case, this little crib was made specifically to go next to their bed at nighttime. It's replacing the bassinet. So the finish isn't really critical.
DeleteThe crib is beautiful. Love the hearts in the scroll work! You're good, girl; you're good!
ReplyDeleteOne down and five more to go -- I look forward to seeing the others.
dbg
DBG - Thanks! Not all of the projects will be doll related, but I will share some of them here.
DeleteThe crib is very cute! I hope Kendra knows that her back is going to ache from lifting the baby from the gound-level XD
ReplyDeleteV. - Thanks! This cradle is going next to the bed at nighttime in the place of a bassinet. The baby has a regular sized crib for his/her nursery.
DeleteOh wow... that's just lovely work.
ReplyDeleteI'm always in awe of you miniaturist wood workers... I have no ability to do that kind of stuff.
I can't wait to see the finished product!
Christie: Hmm... maybe I should have a baby...
ACK! NO! ... thank goodness there are no men around here...
Heather - Thanks! Yes, I think you should have a baby! LOL!
DeleteNice crib! And the detailing is awesome. Did you use a scroll saw for those designs? That's what I use to make all my doll furniture. :-)
ReplyDeleteCindi - Thanks! Yes I used a scroll saw to make this piece.
DeleteGreat crib. I like the detail on it.
ReplyDeleteMale Doll World - Thanks!
DeleteAwesome wooodwork, OMG! that craddle is simply wonderful, it looks very realistic, I love it!
ReplyDeleteRossetti - Thanks! Now I just have to figure out the perfect finish.
DeleteGo on, Keith (aka Vanessa, lol)! Great looking crib. I would love to see your doll closet.
ReplyDeleteBTW, is Keith a Dominic doll or a Integrity Jordan? He resembles an Integrity doll I have.
D7ana - Thanks. Keith is an Integrity Jordan, but I gave him facial hair many years ago. He looked a little too feminine for what I was trying to achieve.
DeleteIt looks so real! LOL, I mean, I know it's "real" but - you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteMuff - Thanks! Yes, I know what you mean.
DeleteI like the two guys talking shop. The cradle will be so special when completed. I hope it will be an OOAK!
ReplyDeleteGrandmommy - Thanks. It will be a OOAK in Morristown, but there's a chance Keith may make some to sell out of Morristown.
DeleteCongratulations! A great job! Wishing to see the final result! You leave me amazed with your diverse skills! That jealous! haha!
ReplyDeleteKeep in touch!
Farbield - Thanks. I'm hoping to have this one finished by next month.
DeleteGreat job Vanessa!! Nice photostory too. : )
ReplyDeleteGeorgia Girl - Thanks!
DeleteGreat Job! I can't wait to see it finished. How did you select Kieth for the job?
ReplyDeleteMs. Leo - Thanks. In an effort to show my doll family more, I felt Keith, my doll husband was the perfect doll to be my carpenter alter ego.
