Hanging Out at the Pool (Photostory)

Thanks to all of Danielle's and the fundraising committee's work, there is a community pool in Morristown.  It's been getting a lot of use this summer.  It's a wonderful place to relax and sometimes they have neighborhood parties and cookouts here.

Today there are a couple of families hanging out and a few of the new residents have decided to enjoy the pool.

"I haven't seen you much lately."  (Antoinette)
"I know.  The boutique is keeping me busy. It's good to get away for a bit."  (Racquel)
"Well, we need to start scheduling some time together.  It's crazy that we live in the same town and can't find time to spend with each other."  (Antoinette)

Monica is enjoying the pool with her dog, Teddy (of course)

"This town is growing leaps and bounds.  Every time I turn around there is someone new moving here.  Now who is that?  I haven't seen her before."  (Antoinette)
"I don't know.  I haven't seen her in the shop before, either." (Racquel)
"If Danielle were here, she would go introduce herself.  I should do that, too.  Maybe later.  I'm too tired to play the host of the welcoming committee right now."  (Antoinette)

They are talking about the new girl that just arrived in town.  I don't know who she is, where she came from or anything.  I'm sure we will find out one day soon.

Shantavia is hanging out with her new beau, Bruce. They have been spending a lot more time together.
"So what are we doing tonight?"  (Bruce)

"I already told you I can't hang out tonight.  I have a big day tomorrow and when I leave here, I'm going to pick up Jada and I am going to bed early."  (Shantavia)
"So you are saying you don't want to see me tonight?"  (Bruce)
"You are impossible."  (Shantavia)

"Come on Zahara.  Come get in the water."  (Nikaya)

Zahara doesn't budge.  She is still not comfortable being in the water.

"How are you ladies, today?"  (Max)
"Hey Max.  We are fine.  Shouldn't you be somewhere massaging somebody."  (Racquel)
"I just finished my last appointment for the day."  (Max)

"I wonder where Kim and Jasmine are?"  (Carmen)

"Kim said she might not make it, but Jasmine should have been here by now."  (Faith)

"Now where is your mother?"  (Dominique)
"I don't know." (Kimaya)
"I know you don't, honey."  (Dominique)

Naisha arrives moments later.

"Hi mom.  I am so sorry about this morning."  (Naisha)
" Where have you been and why didn't you call if you weren't going to come pick her up this morning.  I had to cancel an appointment because of you."  (Dominique)
"I'm sorry.  Something came up and I just couldn't get out of it."  (Naisha)

"Mommy!" (Kimaya)

"Hello pumpkin.  Did you have fun with Nana." (Naisha)
"Uh, huh.  We had ice cream and went to the park." (Kimaya)

"Mom, why isn't she dressed?  I'm meeting friends for dinner in a half and hour and I can't take her like this." (Naisha)
Dominique takes a deep breath.
"She's not dressed because you only brought one extra outfit and she's been here for two days.  I just happened to have that robe and some shorts that you left at my house when you moved out."  (Dominique)

"Weeee"  (Nikaya)

"Hello Ms. Dominique.  Hey Naisha."  (Shantavia)
"Hello Shantavia.  Nice to see you again."  (Dominique)

"What's wrong with you?"  (Shantavia)
"Nothing."  (Naisha)
"Well come meet Bruce.  He's hanging out with me today."  (Shantavia)

Zahara noticed the little doggie and went over to see it.  She is scared of water, but will approach a dog any time of day.  Of course, Nikaya quickly joined her.
"What's his name?"  (Zahara)
"His name is Teddy."  (Monica)
"Hello Teddy.  You are so cute."  (Zahara)

Meanwhile, Ian and Raven have arrived.  They've been doing really well since the wedding.

"My, oh my!  Who is that?"  (Faith)

"Where?"  (Carmen)
"Don't look.  He might see you."  (Faith)

"Bruce this is my best friend, Naisha and her daughter, Kimaya.  Naisha this is Bruce."  (Shantavia)

"Nice to finally meet you.  I hope you are treating my girl right."  (Naisha)
"As far as I know, there aren't any complaints."  (Bruce)
Shantavia cringes a little bit.  Sometimes Naisha can come on a little strong.

Ian and Raven found a couple of seats in the shade....away from the girls at the table.

"Are you comfortable?"  (Ian)
"Yes, but I wish I had worn my bathing suit.  That water looks really good."  (Raven)

So everyone seems to be enjoying the outside.  Some more than others.

Dominique wanted to show you her recent purchase from the Insomnia line.  It's very tropical and very comfortable.

There is a good chance other residents will be enjoying the pool soon.

  2. Ahh the pool. I should probably set mine up too, before the guys over here start a riot! That dress looks wonderful on Dominique.

    1. Alura - Thanks! I really have to get Racquel and Antoinette out to dinner with their husbands. These two old school buddies rarely see each other.

  4. Hi Vanessa. I love this pool scene. Makes me wanna jump in and enjoy. Like you, I purchased a lot of doll swim wear this year and need to use it. I'll figure something out. In the mean time, your pics have me hearing Will Smith's (the Fresh Prince's)song Summertime! :)

    1. veda - Thanks. I still have a few more outfits to use, so we will be seeing the pool again. I love that song! I'll probably be singing it all day.

  5. I love everything about this photo story!! Your pics look so realistic. Outdoor shots are the best! I agree with Veda on the song...Summer, summer, summertime...summertime....lol!

    1. Georgia Girl - Thanks. I love outdoor shots, too. That song was the jam when it came out! It still gets me moving whenever I hear it. I'm going to have to take a listen to it sometime today.

    1. sislovessinging - Thanks. Monica is trying to fit into the community. Her friend, the daycare owner, was supposed to come, but she had to postpone her pool outing.

  7. Wow!! Great dio, you always surprise me! All the details in the pool look so real, and I think the outdoor light improve the photos. I always try to learn from your dios to do mine, they are the best inspiration to me. And who is that new arrival? She's a real beauty, is she a model, an actress...??

    1. Rossetti - Awww, thanks! You are right. Outdoor lighting makes taking pictures much easier. Rumor has it that she is tied in with some music star who is coming to town and she arrived early to scope things out.

  8. I really enjoyed the pool photostory. The pictures (lighting, scenes) were spectacular. I enjoyed the added drama (Naisha missing for two days).

What body (if you remember) is Shantavia using?

    1. DBG - Top of the morning to you! Glad you enjoyed the story. Naisha has been missing from my stories because her character just wasn't developing. When I put the shades on her the other day, her character just came alive and I instantly got a feel for her personality.

Shantavia is on a 2nd generation swapping styles fashionista body. Some of those bodies had some knee problems, but her's seems to be doing just fine. I am not fond of the lines up top and the button in the back.

    2. Thanks for the body info -- glad you remembered.

  9. Funny how you said that Naisha's personality didn't come to life until you put shades on her. Only doll people can truly understand how true that is. Most dolls seem quite shy when they first arrive and then in time they get their own voice.

    1. Debbie - When I first saw her in someone else's pictures, she was playing a high powered lawyer. I loved her in that role. But when she came to Morristown, I just couldn't get a handle on who she was. Now I know she is a brash, sometimes inconsiderate, daughter and friend, who is very loving to those in her life, in her own special way.

  11. I love Naisha's Kanye shades! She is a piece of work, huh? Showing up late, then complaining about the outfit?

    1. Vita Plastica - Oh those are Kanye shades? That explains her attitude. LOL! She needs to take them off then and catch a clue.

  12. Hello from Spain: congratulations for creating this scene in the pool. It looks very elegant. I want to do something with the pool but the furniture is Barbie. You already know almost everything in pink ... Your hammocks and parasols are gorgeous. A great job! Keep in touch

    1. Marta - Thanks. My pool is Happy Family Barbie. My dolls love being in the water. I'm surprised more of them weren't swimming. I'm sure some of them will venture in when I do another scene with this dio.

  13. Well you know I love being outside so Im not going to say nothing about that except, I think the dolls love it too. LOL Your dolls are very pretty I love their faces. The face is what makes me decide if I want to take you home with me!!!!! Great Story

    1. Mustiwait - I think they love it too, except for the sunblock lotion. They had a lot of shade though. I agree. A doll has to speak to me, normally through their eyes. But I have to admit, some just come home because of their clothes. LOL!

  14. Enjoyed the pool scene and the outdoor setting. I've been shooting a pool scene but I didn't do it outdoors -- probably because the grass was knee high and the kudzu was about to eat my front steps! The landlord just had the yard attended to today for the first time all summer. Your yard looks very cool and green and restful.

    1. limbe dolls - Oh no, not kudzu. My yard needs to be mowed. I will tackle it this weekend. I look forward to seeing your pool scene.

  15. I love the outside photos and the pool crowd you have gathered. Nice to see different characters interact with each other, too.

I feel sympathetic towards Dominique. Naisha was pretty inconsiderate. Rubbing my hands together ... wondering why?

    1. D7ana - I wonder where Naisha was, too. Maybe she just had a rough night out and wanted to sleep in. It was so much easier to do that when she lived with her mom.

  16. Morristown just gets bigger and bigger! I remember going to the community pool when I was a kid and just being a general curmudgeon, complaining about every thing.

I agree with everyone, outdoor scenes are the besterest! I know that's not a real word, but it fits!

    1. Muff - This community pool is nice because there are only Morristown residents who use it. I hope Morristown stops growing. It's getting a little out of hand.

  18. Hi. Great story as usual. What body do you have Monica on? It's hard for me to find articulated bodies for the darker skin dolls.

    1. ZDollCloset - Thanks! Monica is on the new Disney Princess Tiana body. I just recently reviewed it in two separate posts. It's not perfect, but I really like it.
