Time for Work (Photostory)

As I mentioned before, Dasia is the new guidance counselor at the local school.  Her husband, Harold, is the principal.   Today they are able to ride into work together because their schedules coincide.  They are starting the morning having their coffee on the balcony off their master bedroom.  Dasia is sporting her newest dress, a wrap dress.  Move over Diane Von Furstenburg.

"Do you feel like stopping by that new Thai restaurant after work?  Camille told me the food is really good."  (Dasia)
"Thai food seems to be all the rage these days, but you know I'd much rather have steak or some seafood."  (Harold)
"You really need to step out of your little box sometimes and try some new things."  (Dasia)

The couple finishes their coffee and heads off to work.  Dasia has a busier day than usual.  She is meeting with Nicole's parents, Rod and Melanie, right after school ends.

She starts her morning off, as usual, checking her emails.

Adele stops by before her first class to confirm the afternoon meeting.
"Hi, Dasia."  (Adele)

"Good morning, Adele."  (Dasia)
"I was just verifying that everything is still a go with the meeting about Nicole?" (Adele)
"Yes.  Her mom and dad have both confirmed they will be here."  (Dasia)
"Great.  I will see you then."  (Adele)

Dasia gets back to work gathering information for a meeting she scheduled with Christina, a student in her junior year.

Christina arrives on time.
"Good morning Mrs. Reed."  (Christina)
"Christina, nice to see you.  Come, have a seat."  (Dasia)

"A little birdy told me today is your birthday.  Happy birthday!"  (Dasia)
"Thanks."  (Christina)
"Any special plans?"  (Dasia)
"My mom is treating me and some of my friends to a day at the spa this weekend."  (Christina)
"Ohhh, that sounds nice."  (Dasia)
"I can't wait."  (Christina)

"Now on to the reason for our meeting.  I wanted to discuss college and the next steps you need to take."  (Dasia)
"I'm only a junior."  (Christina)

"Yes, and this is the perfect time to get the ball rolling.  Waiting until your senior year would be far too late.  The first thing we need to do is get you scheduled for the PSATS.  Then I always recommend students take a SAT prep course."  (Dasia)
"I hate taking tests."  (Christina)
"I rarely meet people who actually enjoy taking tests.  Unfortunately, it's part of life and the best way to handle it is with great preparation."  (Dasia)

Dasia provides Christina with the dates for the upcoming PSATs.  She also provides her the names and numbers of facilities in the area that have SAT prep courses, to give to her parents.

Next time we will continue with Dasia's day and her meeting with Rod and Melanie.

Special birthday shout out to one my of my younger blog readers, Christina.  We frequently conversate via email.  This character, Christina, was created a few years ago in her honor.  Thanks for being such a loyal fan, Christina, and I hope you had a wonderful birthday!

  1. Another fun photostory! Dasia reminds me of my high-school guidance counselor a bit. They started us prepping for college in the freshman year at my school, so I spent a lot of time in her office!

    1. Erin - Thanks again. My guidance counselor was the best. I ended up becoming really good friends with her outside of school. I babysat her two kids quite often. My dolls didn't have a guidance counselor before Dasia, so she has to play catch-up and get the students focused on what their are going to do after they graduate.

  3. First off, I love the dress. I just checked your Etsy store and didn't see it. Dena would like to reserve one. I'm anxious to see how this meeting with Nicole's parents goes. We have a new guidance counselor at my school this year and we love her because she doesn't sugar coat anything when talking to parents.

    1. Jewell - That dress hasn't been listed yet. It's due to hit the shop in a couple of days. But don't worry. I have plenty of that material and I will be relisting it if and when it sells out. You need a strong guidance counselor. Their job is so important. I think Dasia is the right person to handle the parents and the students.

  4. It's nice Dasia can work at the same place as her husband. I couldn't do it. Dasia's hair look so different to me. It's nice.

Okay, so I can hardly wait to see what the meeting is about, but I am guessing at what it's about. Nicole isn't doing well because she's upset her mother is keeping her from her father, Danielle and the boys. Her evil mother will get a wake up call about how she's affecting her daughter and realize she won't make Rod have to take her to court.

It's like watching a show and you can't help but guess and hope for what you think will happen. LOL!

    1. Jaye - Dasia and her husband don't see a lot of each other during the day, so it's not overwhelming. It will be interesting to see how Dasia handles the Nicole situation. Planning to get the new story up in a couple of days.

  5. Dashia looks sexy in her dress and new hair style! I hope all is well with Nicole she has a new baby sister and her mother is keeping her away from the family! Careful Melanie, Nicole may end up choosing Rod and Danielle over you when she gets older!

    1. AG Lanc - Thanks! I hope Nicole is okay, too. She's such a sweet kid. Shame she has to deal with craziness that isn't even her fault.

  6. I also like Dasia's new dress and I love her hair! is that her original hair or a reroot? I may have to let my Dasia's hair down. My Dena's hair has pretty much all fallen out. I decided that I will either reroot her or get her a wig. I knew her hair was brittle when I got her.

I am with Jaye Frye and AG Lanc. I am suspicious that the meeting with Nichol's parents has to do with Melanie not letting her see her father. She needs him in her life as well as her little step brothers and her new sister!

    1. Phyllis - Thanks! That is her original hair. From the back there is a little bald spot, but it doesn't bother me. Sorry to hear about your Dena, but on the plus side, you can make her hair any way you like.

We will get the full scoop on Nicole in a couple of days. Stay tuned.

  8. Dasia's dress is pretty! That is cool that she share a profession with her hubby. I also feel that Melanie has a lot to do with Nicole's behavior. Maybe Dasia can speak some sense into her. Looking forward to the photostory.

    Happy Sunday friend!

  9. Awww that's sweet that you named a character in her honor. The whole college prep part stressed me out even though Christopher is in middle school. This time will fly by.

    Again love Dasia's hair.

  10. Great episode. I didn't want it to end. I hope that Rod eventually gets full custody of Nichole so she can finally live a happy life. Melanie needs to be brought down a few notches.

  11. It's great Dasia and her husband can work together and it looks Dasia is a great counsellor (although I think the meeting with Nicole's parents will be tricky). However, as someone not familiar with the American school system, can you please explain what PSATS and SATS are?

  12. Love Adele's dress. Very sharp.

Dasia's and Harold's conversation is fun. I hear her about broadening your palate ;-)

    1. D7ana - Thanks. I bought that dress on Etsy several years ago. I hope that your palate and love for food are still in tact with everything going on.
