It's the day before Thanksgiving. Melanie is excited about the long weekend. She's going to spend that time getting the new house in order. With Nicole going to her dad's house, she will have ample time to just work on the house.
"Nicole are you almost ready? (silence) Nicole?" (Melanie)
*I know that child hears me.* (Melanie thinking to herself)
Nicole is totally immersed in one of her books, and doesn't hear Melanie.
"Earth to Nicole." (Melanie)
"Yes?" (Nicole)
"I see you are packed and ready to go." (Melanie)
"All set. What time is daddy getting here?" (Nicole)
"He's not coming here. We are meeting him in about a half an hour. I have some errands to run, and I didn't want to be waiting here for him to come." (Melanie)
Nicole sits up and starts putting her book in her backpack
"Did they assign homework over the break?" (Melanie)
"I just have to read and do one math sheet." (Nicole)
"Make sure you get it all done." (Melanie)
"Are we going to the new house or the old house?" (Nicole)
"New house? What new house?!" (Melanie)
"Daddy and Danielle are moving to a bigger house." (Nicole)
"That's interesting. Your father didn't mention anything to me about moving." (Melanie)
"Maybe he's going to tell you today." (Nicole)
"They need a bigger house because of the baby." (Nicole)
Melanie jumps to her feet.
"BABY!" What baby?" (Melanie)
"Danielle is having a baby. She told us at the picnic." (Nicole)
"Oh she did, did she?" (Melanie)
"We will be leaving in about 15 mins. Meet me downstairs." (Melanie)
Melanie is taken aback by the news and needs a minute to gather herself.
She takes a seat in the kitchen. This news has hit her pretty hard. She's not even sure why.
Over at the Taylor's...
Rod and Danielle are working on the living room. After Rod finished painting the walls, Danielle had him put up a couple new pieces she bought this week, and install the curtains.
"Let's leave it for now. I think it's a pretty piece. I'm not completely sure about putting it there." (Danielle)
"Maybe after I put a couple of sconces on this wall, it will all look better." (Danielle)
"Hon, I have to leave now to go get Nicole. The room looks great." (Rod)
"You're just saying that so you won't have to do any more work in here." (Danielle)
"That, too." (Rod)
He kisses her on the forehead and heads out.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL WHO CELEBRATE IT!
Well....! Interesting I'm staying tuned! I know you've plans for things! I Can't Wait!
ReplyDeleteMs. Leo - Plans? I never really have plans. I just let the chips fall where they may. I have no idea what is going to happen next.
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving! Cute story. Did Melanie get a new house too?
ReplyDeleteAG Lanc - Happy Thanksgiving! Melanie lives in the Uptown house. There are several families that will share that house, at different times, with different decor.
DeleteOkay, I see you said "new" house. Which model did she get?
ReplyDeleteI really like Nicole's bedroom in her Mom's new house. Lucky girl -- she gets two new houses! Melanie was taken a bit by surprise with the announcement of Daniel's and Rob's expected new baby. Can't wait to see what happens next.
ReplyDeletePhyllis - Yes, two new houses for Nicole. Hopefully she won't have too much of a time adjusting to all these changes. New houses and the new baby.
DeleteTee hee hee...That's all I've got to say for now. I can't wait for the convo between her and Rod when they meet up. Hopefully she will be civil.
ReplyDeleteJewell - Girrrl, I can't wait either. I don't have a clue how it's going to go, but knowing Melanie, she will have a lot to say. She's an attorney. Do they know how to be civil?
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving. The living room is coming along.it looks good with all the little accents. It looks like a real life home.
ReplyDeleteVal - Danielle had shelves on the wall, and boxes on the wall, until she settled on this decor, for the moment. I know it's going to change again.
DeleteHello from Spain: Happy Thanksgiving Day. I like Melanie sweater is wearing. Nice photos. Great home .. We keep in touch
ReplyDeleteMarta - Thanks. She bought that shirt when she visited London a few years ago. (Not really)
DeleteWhy Melanie? Why? Anywho.... Love the circle theme in the living room. Looks fantastic. HAPPY BLESSED THANKSGIVING!!!
ReplyDeleteBrenova - Happy Thanksgiving! Melanie just can't seem to help herself. Deep down I think she regrets letting Rod go. You know what regret can do to a person. It can eat away at them if they don't figure out how to forgive their self and move on..
DeleteI like the new living room and also I like Melanie's new house.I can't wait to see what happens next.Happy thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteMy doll stuff - Thanks. Happy Thanksgiving!
DeleteAww, Man! The suspense of waiting for the conversation between Melanie and Rod is going to kill me. this is going to be good.
ReplyDeleteI also am looking forward to seeing what Melanie does wit the house. Rod and Danielle's living room is looking good.
Janainah - Awww, man. I won't make you wait too long. Melanie has big plans for the house, but they won't happen before I finish with Danielle and Rod's house.
DeleteMs. Melanie is something else, getting worked up over nothing. Poor Danielle her marriage started off with extras so hoping the new baby will bring every together.
ReplyDeleteBrini - Some exes are really good at allowing their ex to move on and many are not. Especially when there's a child/ren between them. I would say that Rod will get some relief when Nicole gets 18, but in my doll world that may never happen.
DeleteI'm actually going to cut Melanie some slack this time because that's a perfectly valid reaction she's having (or will have). Yes, she left him, but it still gives you pause when an ex moves on, especially since she will no longer be the only mother to his child. Regret is a b-word! Actually I don't think she has any regrets, she just wants to be queen bee of all things past and present.
ReplyDeleteMuff - You are so on point! I think it's a normal reaction, and I think a lot of people in her situation would feel some type of way. They might not admit it to anyone. It's how they handle those feelings that will separate them. You may also be right about her not really feeling regret. She's feeling something. Not being sure what she's feeling, she's labeled it regret.
DeleteI like Rod and Danielle's place from what I've seen so far. Happy Thanksgiving to you, Vanessa!
ReplyDeleteRoxanne - Thanks. They will be showing more of it soon. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
DeleteUh oh... A new house and a baby... This news is just too much for hater Melanie.
ReplyDeleteNicole is such a sweet girl who obviously didn't inherit any of her mother's hateful, envious ways. She is probably the best thing that ever happened to Melanie.
The decor in Rod and Danielle's living room looks great as does the wall without sconces.
dbg
DBG - Yes, she probably won't enjoy this weekend as much as she thought. Nicole definitely favors her more level headed dad. As for the wall, it's already changed. Danielle moved that mirror to the newly wallpapered dining room. That mirror may make it back to the living room. Danielle is thinking about putting a family portrait in the dining room.
DeleteThe place looks great Vanessa! I love how you work these houses girl! Now on to Melanie. I do understand her initial shock. I really do. She needs to just pick up the pieces of acceptance and move on. Great photo story!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays friend!!
Georgia Girl - Thanks! Instead of eating turkey dinner, I worked a little more on the house. A new story will be posted today and you will get to see another room. Now do you really think Melanie is going to just move on? We shall see in the next story. Happy holidays to you, too.
DeleteI think it looks great too. I can't imagine what else you'll add. This is the first time I have felt any empathy for Melanie.
ReplyDeleteKenya - Glad you like the living room. It will stay as is for now. She needs to move on to other rooms. I think a lot of people would feel the way Melanie does about the new baby. They may not be willing to admit it, though.
