Doctor Dasia Gives Update

Hello, guys.  It's been awhile.  I thought I would send Dr. Dasia to give you a brief update on my condition.

Interviewer:  Hello Dr. Dasia.  So what can you tell us about our patient?

Dr. Dasia:  The patient has made some progress, but admittedly her progress has been slow.  She is still not walking on her own devices.

Interviewer:  Do you have any idea when the leg will heal enough for her to get rid of the crutches?

Dr. Dasia:  That is a mystery at the moment.  All we can do is keep the patient comfortable and wait it out.

Interviewer:  I heard she has other issues that are adding to her discomfort.

Dr. Dasia:  Yes.  She still has shingles, which is very uncomfortable.  She has also developed a right ear problem, that is limiting her hearing.

Interviewer:  How are her spirits?

Dr. Dasia:  As you can imagine, she has good days and bad days.  She's trying to stay positive.  She is staying busy with tutoring, sewing, and card making.  There is no lack of tragedy happening these days, so when she's feeling sorry for herself, she thinks of others that are much worse than she is.

Interviewer:  Dr. Dasia we appreciate you taking time out to speak with us.  Our best to your patient.

I miss you, guys.  As you can see, Dasia is still getting new items in my absence.  I had a customer request for a doctor's coat.  I like the way it turned out.  I plan to list a couple of these in my store soon.

Quick update on the house.  I received the insurance check and work should begin sometime this week or next.  Oddly enough, a tree fell on my next door neighbor's house about a week after my incident.  This has been one crazy year!

  1. I have been thinking about you and wondering how you were doing! Glad you are making progress even though it is slow. I have heard that the shingles can really take a long time to get over. Speaking of shingles (segway), during all those high winds in early March, the shingle were blown off of half of my roof. I am having to get a whole new roof though and the insurance only covered a very small portion of it. I am pretty sure I saw the wicked witch of the west flying over my house!

    1. Phyllis - I've heard of people having it for 3 weeks up to 2 yrs. It's been 4 months for me, but it seems like a lot longer. I'm hoping it will come to an end real soon. I can't believe your insurance is only covering part of your roof. That sucks. I have to get a whole new roof and they are paying for the whole thing. I hope it all goes better than planned.

  2. Hi Lovee
I was thinking about you just yesterday. Thanks for the continued updates-I know exactly what to pray for now. I'm glad that you are still able to do some of the things you love. As one who went through a couple of very trying years and having overcome many things including a mysterious lung ailment (which almost killed me), in 2011, I can tell you that life can and does get better. It's all a distant memory now. Your time is coming. Be blessed.

    1. Brenova - Thanks so much for keeping me on your prayer list. Wow, sorry to hear about your past ailments. Soooo happy you overcame them. This is my second time in four years of not being able to walk. I agree that my healing is coming. It just seems to be taking forever. I feel this is a test and I plan to pass it.

    1. Leandra - Hello. No need to apologize. Sometimes we just need a break. I can appreciate that. Sewing for Dasia still brings me a lot of joy. She's such a lucky girl. Good luck finding the right job.

  4. Well first of all....tell Dr. Dasia she is killin' it in that doctor's coat!!! I, too, was wondering how you were. I will keep you in my prayers as well in hopes you will have a speedy recovery from your issues with the leg as well as those shingles. You have the perfect attitude... Whenever I feel "things are too tough," I think about those homeless individuals who stand on the mean city streets begging for spare change. I'm glad to know the dolls are helping you get through this. They are such great little distractions. It has been a crazy year everywhere and the year is not even half over. But something tells me, we'll all somehow get through it!

    1. Jaye - Thanks for thinking about me. Crutches are so limiting. Not to mention my meds keep me very tired. I have never slept so much in my life. I guess I'm catching up from all those years of not sleeping. I just hope it all passes soon.

  13. Hi, Doctor Dasia! Thanks for updating us about Vanessa's condition. That lab coat looks fabulous on you. Vanessa did an excellent job on it.

Hi, Vanessa! Glad to hear that you are doing well. (Sleep is good!) I hope that you can set aside the crutches soon. I pray that the shingles end soon and that your good days outnumber the bad ones.

Keeping busy is so "Vanessa," I smile to hear it. You are an inspiration. Thanks for staying in touch.

    1. Angelia - I'm doing my very best to get better. It's been a bit of a challenge. Thanks for your prayers. I need all I can get. I may have to figure out how to do mini stories with my walking challenges. The thought of never doing stories again is rather daunting.

  15. I'm grateful for your update since I was wondering how you were healing after I saw the post about the tree. That same storm dropped a couple of trees in my coworker's yard, too. She lives a few minutes from my school, so same city as you. I'm happy to hear that you are managing to continue doing some of the things you love.

  16. Jewell - That storm was no joke. Now every time it rains, I cringe. I'm staying positive, prayerful, and productive. That's the most I can do.
