Off To Dinner (Photostory)

Carmelia is at a good stopping place with her parents' taxes.  She has managed to get all the receipts organized.  She's going to come back tomorrow and put in at least another hour, and hopefully get most of the figures entered into the tax software.  The family has decided to go out for dinner.  Carmelia called her husband to come join them.  He arrived a few minutes ago.

Harold puts on his jacket.
"What are you doing out there?"  (Harold)

"Just getting a breath of fresh air."  (Dasia)
"You didn't get enough air at the park?"  (Harold)
"You can never have enough fresh air."  (Dasia)

Downstairs Carmelia is de-stressing from the taxes and enjoying a few minutes with the family.

"So how many boxes did you sell to Grandma and Grandpa?" (Emmitt)
"Grandma bought 8 boxes and Grandpa bought 3."  (Carla)
"Not bad.  We still have to walk the neighborhood and sell some."  (Emmitt)

"Isn't door-to-door selling passe?"  (Carmelia)
"The best sales people use all methods available to them."  (Emmitt)
"Mommy?....Mommy?...."  (Corey)

"Yes, Corey?"  (Carmelia)
"Can we go home now?"  (Corey)
"We're going out to eat first.  Aren't you hungry?"  (Carmelia)
"A little, but I just wanted to go play with my trains."  (Corey)

Harold joins Dasia on the porch.
"Hmmm, you smell good, honey.  Is that the cologne I bought you for Christmas?"  (Dasia)

"Yes."  (Harold)
"It smells different every time you put it on."  (Dasia)
"Must be all this manliness intermingling with the essential oils and the aromatic chemicals."  (Harold)

"Mmmm, you keep talking like that and we might not make it to dinner."  (Dasia)
"MOM, DAD?  Are you guys ready?"  (Carmelia)

"They are taking forever."  (Carmelia)
"Relax."  (Emmitt)
"I just have so much to do when I get home."  (Carmelia)
"It's not like we get to have dinner with them often.  Just relax and enjoy it."  (Emmitt)
"You're right.  I think I'm still wound up from the taxes."  (Carmelia)

"Dogs can't go to dinner, but I will bring you something back.  Okay?"  (Corey)
"Woof!"  (Benji)

Harold and Daisa finally emerge from their bedroom.

"Is everyone ready to go?"  (Harold)

"Yes, we are ready.  We've been waiting for you."  (Carmelia)
"Yeah, well we decided to take a little nap."  (Harold)
"A nap!"  (Carmelia)
"Your dad is just jerking your chain.  Come on, let's get out of here."  (Dasia)

"Grandpa, can I ride with you?"  (Carla)
"Sure.  As long as you don't try to sell me any more of those darn cookies."  (Harold, smiling)
"Daddy said I have to ABS."  (Carla)
"ABS?  What's' that?"  (Harold)
"Always Be Selling."  (Carla)
"Sounds like you need to ride with him then.  His pockets are much deeper than mine."  (Harold)
Everyone heads downstairs for jackets and then out to the cars.  Carla and Corey, both decide to ride with their grandparents.

Carmelia's husband is an Emmitt Smith doll I bought about this time last year.  He came as a double set with a Troy Aikman figure.  He was a running back for the Dallas Cowboys and a champion on Dancing With the Stars.

I will fill in his backstory once I know what it is.  This couple has a teenage daughter, too.  We will see her again soon.

When I went on Facebook today, my former best friend had posted this picture of her family.  This is the real family of Carmelia.  How ironic she posted this today.

  1. Is the real Carmelia also in the ministry? Have you post all the kids before for some reason I thought there was another girl? Dasia red leather jacket is the business!

    1. AG Lanc - No the real Carmelia is not in the ministry. Yes, like I mentioned here, they have a teenage daughter, but she is off with friends.

  2. I love Dasia's jacket, did you sew it? The little boy talking to the dog is the cutest thing, and so realistic because my nephews talk to their pets the same way.

    Cheers.

    1. monstercrafts - Thanks. Yes I made her jacket. I was planning on selling a few, but the material is not great quality, so she has the only one.

  3. Cute story. Emmitt Smith was a great choice for Carmelia's husband! A very cute family. Have we seen the teenage daughter before? Look forward to seeing more of this family.

    1. Phyllis - Thanks. Yes, you have all seen the teenage daughter before. I was going to repost a picture of her, but I was pressed for time and decided I'd just show her on an upcoming post. If you search on Carmelia, you will see a picture I posted of her with her dad and her three children. At the time, Dasia didn't exist.

  5. Dasia's jacket is fabulous!

I like how your Emmitt sounds exactly like someone who would have that grin that he's wearing.

    1. Georgia Girl - Thanks. I am really regretting not posting the picture with the teenage daughter. She is an older Mattel doll. Not sure if she was considered a Skipper or not. If you can't wait for me to show her, just search Carmelia on my blog and there is picture of the family at church.

    2. Shelley is Phone Fun Skipper AA. Mattel has two AA Skipper dolls with this (1993) face and seven AA Skipper dolls with 1987 face. I have all of them in my collection.

Vanessa, it's so interesting to see SLU guys in your doll families, with Barbie dolls. Now I see that football players look good with Barbies too. I was not sure about their height.

    3. Dukasha - Thanks so much for the AA Skipper info. I bought that doll second hand from a doll show, so I wasn't sure of her details. This SLU figure is shorter than the basketball SLU figures. I love that they vary the heights according to the sport.

    4. Yes, I know about the height differrence. That's why I wanted to see a football or baseball player with a Barbie doll. Basketball players are really tall, I saw them in your stories earlier, but the shorter figures could be too short for Barbies. I'm glad to see they also look good as Barbie husbands.
