Prepping for Guests (Photostory)

Lena finishes her shower, gets dressed then starts getting lil' Alan dressed.

"Don't do anything crazy before I get your pamper on.  I've already had my shower for the day."  (Lena)

With lil' Alan dressed, Lena heads downstairs.

First things first....breakfast.

"How about a little peaches and oatmeal?"  (Lena)

Lil' Alan is ready.

Doesn't take long for him to finish his breakfast.  He's always been a good eater.

Lena lays him on the sofa to drink his bottle, while she prepares a few hor d'oeuvres.

First she prepares the pineapple fruit boat.

*It is a Rement item that comes with the open can.*

Next she places the cake, she baked yesterday, on the cake stand.

Oops as she was taking the meat and cheese tray out the fridge, she dropped it.  Luckily the plastic wrap was on tight, but now everything is a jumbled mess.  No time to fix it.  The door bell has just rung.

"Adele,come on in"  (Lena)
"Hello.  Hope we're not too early."  (Adele)
"No, you are right on time."  (Lena)

Lena repositions lil' Alan and sits down to chat.
"So this is your little girl?"  (Lena)
"Yes.  This is Sydney.  She's being a little shy, but I'm sure that won't last long."  (Adele)
"Hello, Sydney.  I may have some toys around here you can play with."  (Lena)
"I brought a few things to keep her busy."  (Adele)

"Oh I almost forgot.  Autumn should be here soon.  She got a little turned around with the directions.  She called me just as I was parking."  (Adele)
"Oh, okay.  Can I get you something to drink?"  (Lena)

We'll check back in on the ladies, once Autumn arrives.

  1. I love that Lena has a badunk-a-dunk! LOL! Because many Black women do have larger derrieres and it's nothing to be ashamed of. I love the blue table? Where did you find it?

    1. KenyaDoll - Yes, her badunkadunk is alive and well. Are you talking about the dining room table? It's not blue. It is a mirror that I put on top of a base. Initially I put one of my new Gloria dining sets in the space. But I changed the table at the last minute and kept the chairs. I spray painted the pink seats, black.

  2. Nice story. So good to see more of Lena and her family. Love how you change the Happy Family house to accommodate different families.

    1. Phyllis - Thanks. I'm in the process of reorganizing the basement so I can get more rooms and house built. In the meantime, the HF house has been my go to, so I can keep telling stories. This family may end up moving to another spot. Alan Jr. will need his own room.

  3. Great story! And I agree with Phyllis, I love how you've made this space work for multiple families. Speaking of Lena's badonkadonk, are Valencia's curves identical to Lena's? Mara's Valencia doll is still boxed so I can't compare.

    1. Jewell - Thanks! Valencia has the same body as Lena. I love the curves, but there are other things about the body I don't like. So I will probably be altering the body a bit to make her a little more natural in her posing. For example, her arms stick out to the sides a little too much, and her head has no up and down motion. Makes doing stories a little harder.

    1. Georgia Girl - Thanks! Right now it's out of necessity that the Happy Family house is getting used again. But Lena made it homey.

    1. billa's dolls - Thanks. Although Lena and her family don't plan on staying here long, she wanted to make the place homey.

  7. Of course, I love the story. Interesting to read about Lena getting settled in the new home and the new town. But I am fascinated by that peach print ironing board cover. Cute! Cool to see how you make the house setting unique to each family.

    1. D7ana - Thanks. I can't take credit for that ironing board peach cover. That is a Mattel sticker. They did a great job making the stickers very realistic on this house.

    2. OMG, that they did. I'd have never thought that was a sticker.

Well, I enjoyed Lena's story, too. So you can take credit for that ;-)

  8. Hello from Spain: I love the chairs in black and white. The table is very real. Looks like glass. I really like this decoration so realistic. Also the stairs are fabulous. Babies are adorable. Nice outfits. Meetings of girlfriends and mothers are always very entertaining. Keep in touch

    1. Marta - Thanks. The table does have a glass top. Lena is excited to meet with the ladies and find out more about the town.

  9. Did you make the stairs?

I think it was totally adorable the way you had her surround the baby with pillows to prop up his bottle and so he wouldn't fall off.

    1. Muff - I did make the stairs. I didn't make it for this house, and they were just a prototype so I could get a feel for how tall I want to make the real stairs. But, they came in handy in this story. I wonder if I would have been as good a mom in real life, as I am in doll life? Probably. At least until the kid started talking too much.

  10. That's exactly how it is! Before they start to roll you have to build them a little fort of pillows just in case!

    1. Valsays - Lil' Alan is pretty active, but Lena figures with a full tummy and a warm bottle, that he's likely to stay put for a little bit. The pillow fort will give her time to reach him if he does decide to move.

  11. Such memories, I used to prop Christopher bottle up with the pillow when I was trying to my homework! I love what you do with the HF house for different family. I have those same intentions but I just hate digging for stuff (I have to keep everything in a big rubbermaid container). Love the story.

    1. Brini - Thanks. I hate digging for stuff, too. So now that my stuff is still not organized in the basement, I am frustrated. Doing stories is so much easier when I can put my hands on anything that I need. Right now stuff is all over the place.

  12. Cute story! Lena appears to have a somewhat prominent badunkadunk. LOL. Love the couch and chair. Did you make those? :-)

    1. Cindi - Thanks. Lena does have back. She can't help it. Yes I made the couch and the chair.

  13. Great to see Adele and Sydney again, how will Sydney cope with lil' Alan being the baby in the picture? Will she grab her mum and pull her towards the door? Or will she try to play with him?
I'm gonna keep myself updated on your blogposts about this.

Thanks for posting this, until next time, bye!

    1. Juanita - As you can see in the following story, Sydney was okay with lil' Alan. She had some issues with pushy Juanita.

  14. I love when babies wiggle with their arms in the air in the highchair waiting on their food. That's what lil Alan looks like he's doing. My goodness to Lena - baby got back!

    1. Kenya - Are these stories taking you back to the good ol' days? It's not too late for you to add another one to the family. Yes, Lena's creator gave them some booty. Finding her clothes has been challenging. Good thing she's a seamtress.
