When we left Robin and her mom Jackie, they were getting the computer back up and running. They are spending a few moments discussing the store expansion.
"Well I'm excited about having an on-site tailor. This should set us apart from some of the bridal shops just outside of town." (Jackie)
*DING DONG*
Someone has just entered the shop as indicated by the bell.
"Hello. We're here." (Tina)
"Hello Tina, Shantavia, and Leslie. You are right on time. Come have a seat. (Robin)
"Well Tina, how's the bride-to-be doing? How are the wedding plans coming along?" (Robin)
"I would love to say the second time around is much easier, but I would be lying. I'm a nervous wreck. Luckily we are keeping it small, so I know it will be fine in the end." (Tina)
"Well, I have pulled the three dresses you looked at on your first visit. Let me get the first one." (Robin)
Robin heads to the rack of dresses to get the first dress.
"Seems like just yesterday I was Danielle's maid of honor, and here I am a bridesmaid just a year later. Who would have thought?" (Leslie)
"I have to admit, when I met your father, I would never have imagined he and I would be getting married." (Tina)
"I thought we would start with this one." (Robin)
"So what do you ladies think?" (Tina)
"It's pretty, but a little plain." (Shantavia)
"I was going for plain. This is my second wedding, I don't want one of those over dramatic dress." (Tina)
"Let's go try it on and let them see you in it. My mom will help you get dressed, if you like.." (Robin)
Tina heads to the back dressing room.
"I can't believe my mom is walking down the aisle again, and I have yet to do it once." (Shantavia)
"Well what's going on with you and Bruce? Do you think he's the one you could spend the rest of your life with?" (Leslue)
"Sometimes I feel like he could be the one. I know I love him, but there are times when I just need my space, so then I start questioning whether or not he is the one." (Shantavia)
"Oh girl, that's normal. Most wives feel that way at some point and time. I love my husband and my kids, but lord knows they grate my nerves at times, and I just want to get away." (Leslie)
"So what do you think?" (Tina)
"Like I said, it's very plain." (Shantavia)
"Why don't you come over to the mirror and take a look?" (Robin)
As with most wedding gowns, this one would need some alterations. That on-site tailor is a good business move.
"So you don't like it?" (Tina)
"I just think it's rather plain." (Shantavia)
"Let's move on to the second dress." (Robin)
Robin pulls the second dress and escorts Tina to the back with Jackie. She returns to chat with the ladies.
"I see you have the latest Versace bag. I bought the same one." (Robin)
"Yes, this was my splurge for the year. I allow myself one accessory splurge per year." (Shantavia)
"I couldn't pass that one up, either." (Robin)
"There's our future bride." (Robin)
"So do you like this one better?" (Tina)
"As a matter of fact, I do. Come here to the mirror." (Shantavia)
"That is sharp." (Leslie)
"Mom, I really like that one. Not too overstated, but very feminine." (Shantavia)
"I do like this one. Do you think all this tulle is too much?" (Tina)
"Not at all. That helps make the dress." (Shantavia)
"Okay, well let's see what you think of dress #3." (Tina)
Jackie comes out and grabs dress number three and leads Tina back to the dressing room.
"You know, you have this gorgeous dress in the window. It's the one on the left." (Shantavia)
"Yes, that's a Shasarignis original. Did you want your mom to try that one on?" (Robin)
"No, that's too much for my mom. I was thinking about trying it on myself. I'm not engaged or anything, but it doesn't hurt to live out my fantasy." (Shantavia)
"You are so right. Why don't I get that and you can try it on right after we finish with your mom." (Robin)
"You sure it won't be too much trouble?" (Shantavia)
"Of course not. We make it easy to take down the model dresses. Hang tight. I'll be right back." (Robin)
"Is this the one?" (Robin)
"Yes, it certainly is. That is gorgeous!" (Shantavia)
"Well I'll put it in the back for you." (Robin)
"That is a beautiful dress. Bruce better watch out. I think you are on a mission." (Leslie)
"Wow, now that's a dress." (Shantavia)
Shantavia is distracted as Tina emerges from the dressing room.
"So I take it you like this one?" (Tina)
"I love that one." (Shantavia)
"Me, too." (Leslie)
"Harrison would fall out if he saw you coming down the aisle in that dress." (Shantavia)
"Well, we don't want that happening, now do we? I'm trying to get married, not spend time trying to revive my future husband. Oooh, I like the sound of that.....my future husband." (Tina)
"It is a beautiful dress." (Tina)
"I need to remind my dad to take his heart medicine that day." (Leslie chuckles)
*DING DONG*
Someone has entered the shop
"Hello. May I help you?" (Jackie)
"Yes, I'm Lena James. I'm here for the interview for the tailoring job." (Lena)
"Oh, hello. My daughter, will be interviewing you, and she's still with a client. Let me take your coat. Would you care for a cup of coffee while you wait? Won't be long." (Jackie)
Robin takes note that her interviewee has arrived. She'll have to have Jackie continue with Tina, while she conducts the interview.
To be continued...
I had to redesign the bridal shop because the rack of clothes kept falling over. The shelf is not level. I think I like it better this way.
I was all too happy to feature a few gifts from fellow bloggers. The wedding dress Shantavia wants to try on, and the brown coat Lena is wearing are both from fellow blogger Shasarignis. The handbag Lena is carrying was a gift from fellow blogger, jewelsnake. Thanks ladies. As you can see, my ladies are enjoying their gifts.
Trivia question for those living in the States: Who is Lena James?
Wish I could have made the jewelry to go with that dress.....
ReplyDeleteDuke of Swann - Unfortunately, I have no plans to show this wedding. We will see glimpses that will let us know that it happened, but I'm not showing the ceremony.
DeleteYou really have received some great gifts! As I was reading I was thinking, is this going to be another "wedding of the year?". I understand that would be stretching it. I love the boutique it is so cute!
ReplyDeleteBrini - Brini- I have been blessed with many gifts and I am very grateful. No, I can't do another wedding like the last one, but I don't want to stop people from getting married, so this is my compromise.
DeleteI love those dresses! And Lena James is a character from a different world played by Jada Pinkett Smith
ReplyDeleteFerret - Hello and welcome to my blog. I love collecting mini wedding dresses. Ding, ding, ding! You are correct about Lena James. Different World was one of my favorite shows.
DeleteYay! The Mbili that looks like me! \(^o^)/ LOL
ReplyDeleteI agree with the girls--the first dress is plain and looks more like a nightgown. The last one is divine.
KenyaDoll - It does look like a nightgown. I hadn't really noticed that.
DeleteI had something like the last dress in mind for Tina the minute I figured out that it will be her getting married. It looks very becoming on her. I love the introduction of your Prettie Girls Lena as a tailor, I think I'm going to like her storyline already.
ReplyDeleteDoll Crazy - Well you hit the nail on the head. The third dress suits her perfectly. I hope she picks that one. Lena is an aspiring fashion designer, but she needs a steady paycheck right now.
DeleteThe last dress Tina wore is perfect for her. Very elegant and sexy.
ReplyDeleteMuff - I hope her daughter was able to convince her to go with #3. She was feeling #2, also. She's used to being professional looking. That sexy look is throwing her a little bit.
DeleteHello from Spain: beautiful pictures. I like the chair in yellow. Your collection of wedding dresses is fabulous. I love the third dress. Very elegant. Pretty pictures looking in the mirror. I like the gifts you received, Great bag and coat. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteMarta - Thanks! That third dress fits her like a glove. Let's hope she selects that one.
DeleteOMG!!! You are awesome at this.
ReplyDeleteJuanita - Thanks! Yes, Tina is very lucky and so is her fiancee, Harrison.
DeleteTina is a very lucky woman!
ReplyDeleteTina looks very elegant in the last dress! I have always loved this doll's look, isn't she produced in the late nineties? The coat and handbag are cool, you got great gifts :-)!
ReplyDeleteNymphaea - Tina is the Uptown Chic Barbie. She's available on ebay NRFB for about $25, which is a great price. She is articulated.
DeleteThe way you've set up that shop is fabulous - and the new accessories just make it more so!
ReplyDeletejSarie - Thanks! I think the new setup is even better.
DeleteOh, yes, that last dress is the snazziest. Go head Tina. Looking great.
ReplyDeleteI love the bridal boutique set up. Love the conversation between the ladies. Love the posing. Thanks for another fun read. Yay, Vanessa!
D7ana - Harrison will love seeing all those curves. Then again, I think he will love seeing her in anything.
DeleteI was so frustrated trying to get the dresses to stay standing in the other configuration. Finally, I gave up and did a redesign. Glad I did. I got to add that antique looking mirror I found at a thrift store a couple years ago.
Hi Van, I was looking forward for this and I was elettrified. Actually I like best the first dress, but I'm all for simple wedding dresses.
ReplyDeleteA fabolous post!
billa's dolls - I'm so glad you enjoyed the post! Initially when I saw the first dress in the package (it's a Disney dress), I thought that would be the one for Tina. But after trying on the other two dresses, I have a feeling she's going to go with something else.
DeleteHi Vanessa! That beautiful entrance! Congratulations on such a job! Your girl can not be more beautiful! My favorite was the last dress, it is ten. I'm sure anger fabulous! Gifts are precious! a kiss!
ReplyDeletekarmen - Thanks. She does make a beautiful bride. I hope she picks the third dress.
DeleteHey, I love looking at all the dresses! I find it so real that Shantavia wants to try on we gown. Be careful! The dress will get you thinking! Love see Lena wand the gifts. Love that coat!!!
ReplyDeleteMs. Leo - Women and wedding dresses are such a great pairing. It will be interesting to see how Shantavia handles the wedding dress issue.
DeleteWow! Wow! Wow! I would really like to be there to try out all these dresses! Vanessa thank you for the wedding dress. I also saw the coat! I'm really glad to see these clothes. I really had reason to choose you! .... Big BIG Thank You Vanessa ! You are so so nice !
ReplyDeleteShasarignis - Your clothes have really come in handy. Shantavia can't wait to try on your wedding dress. I'm glad you chose us, too. Thanks again!
DeleteCould you let me in on some of robin and her family`s details? Also, could you tell me what kind of dolls her sisters are? Thanks for your time.
ReplyDeleteLana - Robin is the daughter of Samuel (action figure) and Jackie Jackson (Go Red Barbie). She and her mom own the Bridal Boutique. She has two sisters, Chandra, who is a professional dancer. Tanisha is the youngest daughter, who is also a dancer. They are both So In Style Chandra dolls. The professional dancer, Chandra, is one of the first So In Style dolls that came in a set with a S.I.S kid. She wore a purple dancer's outfit. The second one, I named Tanisha is one of the first Rocawear S.I.S dolls. And Robin is the dark skinned Dallas Cowboy cheerleader doll.
DeleteThe third dress is stunning and suits Tina beautifully. However, I've found most brides who are marrying for the second time do go for something simpler and often for a colour rather than a white dress. (How do I know? I'm a professional dressmaker - and I do quite a few weddings.) I hope Lena has lots of experience.
ReplyDeleteCarrickters - That's why Tina was going to go simpler. She's okay with wearing white because she has been celibate for many years. She and Harrison have not engaged in sex, so to her, she's a born-again virgin. I hope Lena gets the job. This job would fit perfectly in her schedule.
