Gloria Nursery and Bedroom Reviews

So I've decided to show you the before pictures of two more Gloria playsets I bought.  When you take a moment to look beyond the gaudy colors, you realize how many great items you get for a very reasonable price.  I am reviewing one of the nursery sets and one of the bedrooms.

So this is the full nursery set.  Most of it will be painted or transformed in some way.   There are a lot of great pieces to work with.

The items in this picture are what really made me decide to get this set.  This baby carrier is very nice and will probably be covered in fabric.  Behind the carrier is a baby monitor set.  Kendra will be getting that as one of her gifts.  Don't tell her and act surprised if you see it.  The box is a box of pampers.  The thing on the left is where the baby lays and plays, while mommy does something constructive.

I love, love, love, this little dresser.  Only the top drawer opens.  You will more than likely see this in Ciana's room first. On top are three baby bottles on the left, a dish and spoon in the middle, and a tray of odds and ends on the right.

This circular crib is very cute.  I'm not crazy about the fabric drape.  I will need to make one that is nicer.  The baby comes with the set, too.

Here it is without the fabric.  You will more than likely first see this in Kendra's birthing suite after she has the baby.  YES, she will eventually give birth.  LOL!

The next set is a canopy bedroom set.  They have a few different sets.  I picked this one for the canopy and the working night lamps.  It's still up in the air who will get to use this first.  Monica is on the potential list.

Not sure what color I will be painting this bed.  I'm open for suggestions.  Once I paint it, I will then decide if it needs any fabric.

The folded tray is going to look great painted.  I like details.

The base of the bead is cardboard.  I will add a cushion and new bedding.

And the best part... the lamps.  The battery sits in the nightstand.

The second person vying for this bed is Naisha.  It's nice to know this bed is large enough for the FR dolls.

One of these ladies will be getting a new gentleman friend soon.  We won't know which one until he arrives.

P.S.  I have been having major internet issues.  So much so that I am getting new service on Tuesday.  Yay!  We will be returning to the baby shower in a couple of days.

  2. Nice sets! How about a nice deep cherry, walnut or maple color for the bed? :-)

  3. All accesoried and so detailed. I'm tempted to hunt for some of these now myself. I can't wait to see the new gentleman on the scene. I'm sure one of the ladies will be very pleased to see him arrive.

  4. Yes! Finally, someone has a review on the bedroom set with working lamps, LOL. I've been thinking about this set forever but wanted to see a review on it. I don't mind the cardboard base and like you said, adding cushion will be nice. As for color...hmm...it's got a shabby chic feel to it, so I'm thinking white, maybe distressed a little bit.

The nursery is surprisingly cute without a paint job. I know you'll make it even cuter but it's nice to see the pink isn't so bad. You definitely get your money's worth with all the accessories that come with the nursery, goodness. I adore Gloria furniture sets. I can' wait to get the sandwich shop, grocery store and salon for my daughter. I want to build her a few businesses so she learns more about careers and community.

Thanks for sharing this post, Vanessa!

    1. Tracy - I like your shabby chic idea. I'll have to see if I can pull that off. Definitely a nice little bedroom to have. As for the nursery, when I started looking at everything you get, I hurried up and got this set. You don't get a lot in the new Mattel playsets anymore. That's a great idea for your daughter.

  5. That canopy bed would look AMAZING with a natural wood color/ woodgrain pattern painted on it.

  6. Thanks for the Gloria-review! I like the dresser and those working lamps! I think I will purchase a Gloria bedroom set once.

The round crib was very strange for me first (I am used to the square :) ) but maybe with another materials it would be pretty. The rocking chair is also a 'would like to buy' thing :)

I am looking forward Your new painting job with these sets! :)

    1. Rosemary Hill - They have a number of different bedrooms. All very different but still nice. Mattel made a round crib, too. They are also produced for real babies.

  8. I have the Gloria bedroom set. Just finished re-painting it. I didn't like the pink bedposts so I made them white. I painted the tops of the nightstands pistachio green and I painted the lamps white with gold trim.

There is another play set with a vanity table the goes with this bedroom set and a third with a wardrobe and cheval glass. I just got the wardrobe and will be painting the doors pistachio green to match the rest of the suite. Can't wait to see what you do with yours!

  9. Well both sets have as they say in the designing world "good bones"! I love the detail on the end tables a lot! This my first time seeing a round crib...kinda cute! I am waiting for the after pictures ;)!

    1. Ms. Leo - Yes, definitely good bones. Mattel has produced at least one round crib in the past. They also make them for real babies.

    2. Real babies!! Wow, I have never see the Mattel round crib or the one for real babies. I guess I never shopped for kids stuff too much. I wonder how well sleeping on a round crib works out for the baby?

  10. These are amazingly detailed. All those little pieces in the nursery set will be very useful for Kendra (and any other mums). And the working lamps with the bed set are a very clever idea. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the repainting.

    1. Carrickters - All those details will stand out even better if I paint them correctly. I couldn't believe all the great things that came with the nursery. I wanted to show where some of them came from before they show up in the baby shower story.

  11. Hello from Spain: I really like these babies supplements. The crib is awesome. The canopy bed is also very beautiful. I would paint in brown. I also like the lamps in the nightstand. Where do you buy this furniture so pretty? In my country I do not see them for sale. Keep in touch

    1. Marta - I've been thinking about brown for the bedroom. Gloria furniture is purchases on ebay. The most popular seller is fortunetoys and bobaprincess. Same company, different names.

  14. Thank you for review, I have seen those many Gloria set but didn't buy those two. Stopped to buy Gloria things after I find in certain set one lamp instead of two ( I really wanted these lamps, so obviously, if something would miss It would had to be one of those lamps). I can't wait to see those sets repainted and upgraded!
