Back to Family Fun Day

Did you enjoy the chocolate cake I made for you?  Well, we are finally finishing up Family Fun Day.  There are three areas of fun.  There is the beach area, the picnic/ride area, and the basketball area.  Caution:  This is a long story.

Here again we see the college girls hanging out at the beach.

Kurt and Sean are renting out jetskis and mopeds.

Their wives and kids are hanging out at the beach with them.

"You are such a ham, little girl."  (Sheila)

"What's she doing?"  (Samantha)
"Say, I'm just being a silly little girl."  (Sheila in her baby voice)

Tommy and Bethany have commenced to bury their legs in the sand.

"Now this is the life.  Wake me when it's time to go."  (Faith)

"What do you mean wake you when it's time to go?  Surely you are not going to waste this beautiful day sleeping."  (Jasmine)
"Well..."  (Faith)

"What did you have in mind?"  (Kaitlyn - the new girl)
"I don't know.  Just something fun.  Sitting here sleeping is not fun to me."  (Jasmine)

Meanwhile over on the basketball court, the guys are starting their 3-on-3 tournament.  They've already picked teams.

(Team 1: Ian, David, and Diego.)
"Ok, we are playing 21, win by 2.  It's the best two out of three."  (David)

(Team 2: Quentin, Brad, and Chris)
"So what's at stake?"  (Brad)
"The losing team buys the brewski."  (David)

Over in the picnic area...
"So you didn't tell me if your mom liked me or not."  (Bruce)
"I haven't talked to my mom since The Den.  Every time I call, I get her answering machine." (Shantavia)
"I hope she's okay." (Bruce)
"I'm sure she's fine.  She gets super busy sometimes."  (Shantavia)

"So where's Terrance, today."  (Halle)
"Where else?  Out of town on business.  Darius has him running all over closing deals."  (Racquel)

"I see you were able to get Diego out today.  Hmmm.  That's a good sign.  You guys were looking so cute together the other night.  So can I assume this is starting to get serious?"  (Racquel)
"If by serious you mean we are in a relationship, then yes.  If by serious you mean, we are going to be walking down some aisle in the future, then no.  I don't want to be tied down like that."  (Halle)
"We'll see."  (Racquel)

"That will be $3.25.  Do you need a bag?"  (Worker)
"No, I don't have far to go."  (Donte)

Tony is there with the kids.  Antoinette is at the TV studio taping a cooking special.
"Watch this, Daddy."  (Nikaya)
"I'm watching."  (Tony)

Ciana has not moved from the bumper cars since she arrived.

"Mommy, mommy, come here!"  (Ciana)

"What Ciana?  You come over here."  (Leslie)

Leslie mumbles to herself, "I am not going out in that hot sun."
"Never mind!"  (Ciana)
The thought of her leaving the bumper cars was not appealing in the least bit.

"So what have you been up to, cuz?  I haven't seen you in a minute."  (Leslie)
"You know I moved out of momma's house.  I got a cute little place downtown."  (Naisha)
"That's great.  I'll have to stop by to see you one day soon."  (Leslie)

"Do you want me to get Lola?" (Donte)
"No, we can just save her something.  I like when she plays with the other kids.  She is so shy most of the time."  (Penelope)

There's my daughter, Alicia, just having a good old time on the playground.

Several kids, Jolisa, Kimaya, Jada, and Lola are on the Merry-Go-Round.

Oh, look.  Danielle and the boys have finally arrived.
"Hello, guys."  (Danielle)

"Hi D.  We were wondering if you were coming."  (Vanessa)
"I had a busy morning to say the least."  (Danielle)

"Hey woman.  It's about time you graced us with your presence."  (Leslie)

"Hey girl.  I told you I was going to be late."  (Danielle)
"Well I wasn't expecting it to be this late."  (Leslie)

"Here take my seat.  I have to go get Kimaya."  (Naisha)
"Oh, thanks."  (Danielle)

Uh, oh.  Ciana has a new victim.  What out, Kenaz.

"Hey sweetie.  Did you have fun?"  (Shantavia)
"Yes, but I wanted to ride the elephant, but Jolisa took it and wouldn't let me ride it."  (Jada)
"So what animal did you ride?"  (Bruce)
"I had to ride the horse."  (Jada)
Poor Jada.

"Julian, how about you take Jacob to the playground. I will keep my eye on him and you can go play."  (Danielle)
"Come on, Jacob." (Julian)

Naisha has retrieved Kimaya from the Merry-Go-Round.

"Hey do you guys want to walk with us to the beach?"  (Naisha.)
"Not just yet.  I need to get Jada something to eat first."  (Shantavia)
"Okay, I'll be there taking in a little sun."  (Shantavia)

"So did Rod and his father get off on their fishing trip okay?  (Leslie)
"Yes.  He was up all night, nervous about going.  He really hasn't spent any time with his father since the wedding.  Tony and Freeman have been hanging out quite a bit, though."  (Danielle)
"Well, hopefully it's a good trip.  Hopefully they will iron out their differences so they can move on."  (Leslie)
"I sure hope so.  I hate to see Rod in such turmoil."  (Danielle)

Kara is hanging out with her sister-in-law, Payton.

"Mommy, can I go play basketball with Daddy."  (Jolisa)
"I'm sure he would be thrilled to have you interrupting his game."  (Kara, sarcastically)

"Did you have fun, Lola?  How about some fries and a little hot dog?"  (Penelope)

Julian has gotten Jacob situated and he is off and climbing.

Darn, I was gone so long, the basketball tournament is over!  From what I can tell, David's team won.
Chris seems a little peeved.
"You got us this time.  I want a rematch."  (Brad)

Jasmine was able to convince Faith and Kim to go mopeding.

Once Faith got going, there was no stopping her.  I guess she didn't need that sleep, after all.

Carmen and Kaitlyn settled in for a nice game of cards.

"Your turn." (Carmen)

Naisha and Kiimaya did make it down to the beach.  In the background, Sean is saying goodbye to his wife who has decided to take the little ones home early.

Kurt is saying goodbye to his family, who will also be leaving soon.

A few of the families headed to the water for jetskiing.  All in all, it was a great Family Fun Labor Day.

  1. Your dioramas look so real! I really like that you care so much about the details!

    1. Kate - Thanks! I keep saying I am going to stop doing such large productions with so many dolls. Somehow, I continue doing them.

    2. OMGMG i luv this post. It is very creative how you set up the slidde and the ferry and the beach setting. I love Kurt and his wife and daughters!! And the boys look like they r gonna have fun. That was soo relistic. The details were good too. Where did you fnd the slide and the ferry? Amazon?

    3. coolsinger - Glad you enjoyed their day. I bought the slide and the ferry from the regular toy store when they came out years ago. I've had them a very long time.

  2. Enjoyed this one Vanessa. You know I'm going to say something about details...You are always so attentive....loved it! Thanks for this one!

    1. Loretta - Thanks! This was for you and the grands. LOL! I'm sure you guys are going to have just as much fun at the holidays.

  3. Love, love, love this! All the little extras make it seem so real! Great job once again Vanessa:)

    1. Chynadoll - Thanks! These families are keeping me busy for sure.

  4. This story has a lot of scenes so full of life! Absolutely wonderful! And so beautiful to watch!! I have to bow down to your talent

    1. Sergio - Thanks. I'm so glad you guys enjoyed it. I was afraid it was too long.

  5. Ahh the last taste of summer I see! Hello Fall! I hope all your dolls are ready for it! Nice to hear Freeman is still in the picture.

    1. Verona - Yes, fall is upon us. The dolls are ready to put away the bathing suits and pull out the jeans. We will see Freeman again real soon.

  6. You have such a wonderful way of bringing your dolls to life and I love it. This is incredible!

    1. Alura - Thanks! Each of their lives are constantly scrolling through my head, even when I'm not doing dios.

  7. Such a fun day had by all! I quite enjoyed this photostory. I did laugh when you "missed" the basketball game. $3.25 for all that food and candy is a great price! Usually you'd pay that much just for one lollipop.

    1. Muff - $3.25 was just for the sandwiches and fries. The lollipops were just displayed on the counter with the pretzels. Can you imagine the twins with those big lollipops?

  8. Loved it as always! The details are phenominal like everyone has stated pretty much. Very well done. I hate for it to end. : /

    1. Georgia Girl - Whew, I was so afraid it was just too long. I didn't realize I had taken so many pictures. It was hard to pare them down, so I showed most of them.

  9. I'm smiling as I scroll down the page - imagining being in the bumper car like Ciana, riding the moped with the college girls, and sitting in the shade with the mothers.

I love your group shots like this. Like how you keep track of all the stories. Thanks for brightening my online time ;-D

    1. D7ana - I'm so happy me and the crew can make you smile. They are such an active bunch over here, and they are keeping me more than busy.

  10. Wow, the photos look amazing! What a perfect day and area to shoot. This was definitely one of your best, so much to look at, so much going on and I swear folks are moving in the background. ;)

    This was a treat, Vanessa...thanks. :)

    1. Tracy - Thanks! This all took place in my driveway. When the mail lady delivered the mail, she asked me if I was selling all my stuff. LOL! I guess it looked pretty crazy out there.

  11. It looks like a great day was had by all - including you. (I guess you msde some of your neighbours smile as well.) Loved all the details and the families having a good time. Will we get any view of Rod's fishing trip with Freeman (I'd love to see you with fishing lines and bait)?

    1. Carrickters - Glad you stopped by out Family day. As a matter of fact, we will get to see a little of the fishing trip. They are spending the day at Rod's cabin.

  12. A very nice, busy labor day... I love how everyone can get out and relax together, such a sense of community!

... and 0_0 Tiny playing cards?!

    1. Heather - Busy is right? They really are a close community. You don't see that too often these days.

  13. Awww that was fun. Excellent photography! It's nice that I finally know some of the story lines behind most of these families. I love all of the outfits. If I could pick one out of my closet to wear it would be Shantavia's.

    1. Kenya - Thanks. After being on that jetski, Halle will probbly need a nice hot bath in her hot pink tub. So you liked Shantavia's outfit? It is cute. I would love to have my doll's wardrobe.

  14. Hello from Spain: wow, wow ... I can not stop looking at your photos with many dolls and furniture of fun. The cars are very original car ... I have the set of games for years. I see that you also have ... I'm glad! In the coming days I'm going to buy a bike for Barbie. The photographs are very nice. Keep in touch

    1. Marta - Thanks! One thing our dolls know how to do is have fun. I remember loving the bike scene you did with your dolls. I look forward to seeing the new bike.

  15. We had picture perfect weather and great light this weekend and you took full advantage of it! Great photos!

    1. limbe dolls - Yes, we have had really nice weather. It was nice getting shadows in the pictures that were complimenting the pictures, and that I didn't have to worry about getting rid of.
