Well, I am back to 100% and finally getting to some of my unfinished projects. First up was the boy transformations I started a couple of months ago. Well the first little boy is just about finished. I'm still contemplating his name. (Sorry for the poor pictures. I picked a horrible spot to take pictures today.)
This doll was originally an Only Hearts Kayla Rae doll that looked just like the one in the picture below.
This was the first picture I showed you after I did a rough haircut.
Then I removed all of his hair using tweezers. This part was the most tedious.
Then he received a flocked hairdo. This was my first time flocking and it was pretty simple. I ordered my flocked hair from Restoredoll.com.
He's pretty happy to be here, and we are happy to have him. I better make him some friends fast. He's going to need help with all the little ladies running around town.
Here he is with Nicole. I'm not sure if they will be cousins or just friends. Still working on that.
Nice job Vanessa! He came out really good.
ReplyDeleteZDollCloset - Thanks. He's happy with the transformation.
DeleteHe looks great! I wish Only Hearts Club actually marketed and sold boy dolls though.
ReplyDeleteVerona - It would have been nice if OH had sold boy dolls, too. They only have the one blond toddler boy.
DeleteHe looks great! I just tried flocking myself and it was so easy that I can't wait to get more colors for beards and stuff.
ReplyDeleteVita Plastica - Thanks. I bought a caramel brown color for one of the other little boys. Great idea for the beards. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
Deletewow i can belive that he was a girl he looks so cool.
ReplyDeletejassica - He can't believe he was a little girl, either.
DeleteHe turned out great. I see him as a Matthew. He is going to love being part of Morristown! I'm also glad you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteBrini - Matthew is a nice name. Usually when I take my time naming them, the right name shows up. If I make him Nicole's cousin, I have two names to choose from. If he's just her friend, the field is wide open. Yes, I'm feeling back to my normal self.
DeleteHe is too cute! You did a fabulous job with the flocking. Makes me want one and I'll make one if I find a Kayla Rae or Briana Joy for the right price.
ReplyDeleteI recently flocked a wig but I made my own flocking using ultra fine yarn. It was a really simple process. The hardest part was shearing the yarn in small enough pieces to create the flocking and that really wasn't hard.
dbg
DBG - Isn't he a cutie? I have a feeling he is going to be a favorite of mine. I have to make them a nice little wardrobe. Last I checked, the OH dolls had been marked down to $5 at TJMaxx. It was hard to leave them in the store, but I did. I have more than enough OH dolls now.
DeleteDid you show up pictures of the flocked wig? I may have missed that one.
Nice job and I'm glad your feeling better can't wait to see him in a story.
ReplyDeleteMustiwait - Thanks and thanks for the well wishes. I need to make him some clothes, so he can be stylin' and profilin' around the little ladies.
DeleteGlad to read that you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteNice new boys! You've got a new age niche there - usually, boys are either much younger or much older. Not so many pre-teen boys, I mean. I look forward to meeting him and the other young fellows.
Oh and when you bring out M-A-X .... (I don't forget stuff like that ;-D)
D7ana - Yep, feeling much better. Whew!
DeletePoor Max. He is apart from his body, waiting for me to find him a new body. He is on that project list of things to finish. His time is coming soon.
DeleteGlad to hear your feeling better:) great job on the flocking! He came out great! Taking those little hairs out is a pain but oh so worth it in the end! Looking forward to see what name you come up with and how you use him in your stories.
ReplyDeleteChynadoll - Thanks! I didn't want to risk removing his head which probably would have made the hair removal easier. But it was definitely worth it in the end.
DeleteIf you got him earlier during your series before you introduced Nicole he would have made a great twin brother for her
ReplyDeleteraven - Welcome to my blog. You are right he would have made a really nice brother for Nicole.
DeleteGlad to see you back at 100%!
ReplyDeleteYou know...I actually like him better as a boy! Great Job!
Grandmommy - Thanks. Good to be back. Isn't he a cute little boy? I can't wait to give him some nice boy clothes.
DeleteGlad that you are feeling better. Great job Vanessa! He is adorable. I'm looking so forward to his jointing the Morristown fam.
ReplyDeleteGeorgia Girl - Thanks! It will be interesting to see what his personality is.
DeleteHe looks super cute, you've done a great job Vanessa. Looks like there are going to be more boys around Morristown in the future.
ReplyDeleteCarrickters - Thanks. There can never be too many boys or men in Morristown!
DeleteWow, you did a great job! If you don't tell he was a girl, nobody would!
ReplyDeleteRossetti - Thanks! I'm trying not to let him know he used to be a girl. It could be devastating to his ego. LOL!
DeleteWhat a handsome fellow he makes! Thanks for the tip about where you bought the flocking.
ReplyDeletelimbe dolls - Thanks. That was my first time ordering from Restoredoll.com and I was very pleased.
DeleteIt's a boy! Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteSergio - LOL! Thanks!
DeleteThe first picture I saw of him I thought he looked like he could be related to Nicole. Great flockdo.
ReplyDeleteKenya - Thanks!
DeleteVanessa, I think that Melanie had twins (she didn't see the second baby born), the O.B. nurse took him home and raised him as her own. Rod may have had a son by Melanie afterall.
ReplyDeletedrupay - Too funny! You've been watching too many soap operas. LOL! The long lost twin...
DeleteGreat job Vanessa :)
ReplyDeleteLoved your blog!!!!Please follow me at:http://aggirlforever.blogspot.in/ its a blog about American Girl Dolls
Asmita
Asmita - Thanks and thanks for visiting my blog. I will definitely check out your blog!
DeleteI followed you too Vanessa :)
ReplyDeleteHello from Spain: congratulations. Your doing a great job with his hair. With your transformation and no trace of the girl hewas. I really like the white bench. I think it's better than the new guy is a friend of Nicole ... keep in touch
ReplyDeleteMarta - Thanks. He's happy to be here. That bench was part of a Mattel playset. It came with a little white tea cart, too.
DeleteWOW! Great transformation. He's really a handsome little guy now.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing who's son he will end up being.
Tracy - Thanks. He turned out much better than I expected. He may just end up being part of the school crew. I'm in the midst of getting Adele's new class together.
DeleteIt's so interesting to see how their bodies are constructed. These are rare to find in most stores. I think I saw some in a old Tuesday Morning but if I recall correctly the price seemed too high to me -- yeah, I know, lol.
ReplyDeleteI like this transformation! I keep saying I'm going to flock something and I even went to Michael's to get some for testing, but I chickend out. I guess I don't get how the hair stays on or how you get the glue in the right formation. Doesn't it rub off because sealing it would make it too hard, no?
Anyway a very nice youth for your collection.
Muff - Only Heart dolls were only sold in Target stores initially, for about $14 - $18. Then the older ones started showing up in Tuesday Mornings for $8. That is where I bought most of mine. Just recently they've appeared in TJ and Marshalls for $5 - $8. They are still readily available on their website.
DeleteYou really need to try flocking. You will be surprised at how easy and rewarding it is. The hair is so super fine that it adheres incredibly well.
