This dress may get some embellishments down the line and she will hem those sleeves.
Lena will probably finish the neckline on this sample dress, now that someone wants to actually wear it.
Van's Doll Treasures primarily features Barbie and other fashion dolls her size. I make and sell 1/6 scale doll furniture for Barbie and Ken. The link to my Etsy shop is available on the right hand side. I prepare dioramas and videos that feature my doll families.
The Asian inspired dress is so pretty and very flattering on Emerald Rose.
ReplyDeleteRoville - Thanks. I'm challenging myself to make pieces in about 20 mins as a way to improve my sewing confidence. We'll have more elaborate, detailed outfits down the road. Stay tuned.
DeleteBoth dresses are nice! I love design of the second one.
ReplyDeleteGeorgia Girl - Thanks. Emerald Rose needed some simple outfits to wear to college. Now I can do a new story with her.
DeleteThey are both beautiful simplified cheongsam, absolutely lovey! Emerald Rose is a lucky girl, and Lena is doing a great job.
ReplyDeleteJust a suggestion, just to give them the complete oriental feel maybe you could use ton sur ton ribbon. I've found this nice Qipao pattern: http://www.asia-fashion.de/qipao/schnitt01.gif, I think I'll try one too!

billa's dolls - Thanks and thanks for the pattern! I have actually made real Asian dresses in the past for 16" dolls. I'm anxious to make more, but right now my focus for Emerald Rose is to get her some outfits she feels comfortable wearing to college. She's one of my college girls, who is dating one of the local hotties. I can't do anymore stories with them until she gets some clothes that fit. I'm sure she will get a real Asian dress soon, because i just ran across some beautiful Asian fabric in my stash. Maybe that will be on the agenda in March. I can't wait to see your Asian dress! Will that be soon?
DeleteIt won't be soon, because now I'm really busy with the dresses for Odette for the next Oman instalments and the Tartan collection for both girls and boys. Maybe in april. Now that I think about it, it could be the theme for the dresses for the redhead connection visit to Venice!
DeleteKisses Billa
billa - Sounds like a great plan. I will stay tuned.
Deleteboth are lovely but the 2nd one really is so lovely on her. The design on the dress really tones perfectly with the colors of the dress.
ReplyDeleteLisa - Thanks. The colors in that second dress work well with her skin tone, too. Now to find her some shoes.....
DeleteVery nice! I love the prints on both fabrics.
ReplyDeletejSarie - Thanks. I just love when I can find the right scale print fabric for the 12" dolls.
DeleteGreat job, Lena! I especially LOVE the dark print dress for the contrast in color-doll complexion. The second dress looks sexier though ;-)
ReplyDeleteD7ana - Thanks. It's always fun to see what people prefer. She will probably wear the second dress on her date with her boyfriend.
DeleteBoth dresses are lovely. I love how the second one shows off her shapely legs.
ReplyDeleteJewell - Thanks. She's blushing at your comment about her legs.
DeleteThese are both nice dresses.
ReplyDeleteJanainah Frye - Thanks. We are both happy that she has something new to wear for her next story.
DeleteI love both dresses, especially the material for the first. I need to get downstairs and start doing some sewing too! Are you planning on selling any of your designs on your Etsy?
ReplyDeletePhyllis - Thanks. Yes, get downstairs and start sewing. That was Lena talking. As for selling....if I get to a point where I feel they are good enough to sell, I will.
DeleteI really love the 1st dress! Whoop for Emily Rose!
ReplyDeleteSonya - Thanks. Whoop is right. Girlfriend can now strut her stuff around town.
DeleteLovely dresses!
ReplyDeletepattidolls - Thanks! I'm just dusting off the old sewing fingers.
DeleteLove the prints you used for both dresses!
ReplyDeleteapril - Thanks! I'm sure you get just as excited when you can find prints in the perfect scale for the dollies.
DeleteIt's so hard to get prints in the right scale for our girls. I really like the butterfly print although I love both dresses on your Mixi. Looks like Lena will have lots of clients if Emerald Rose wears her dresses out on dates.
ReplyDeleteCarrickters - Thanks. Yes the right print size is always an issue. I have another Mixi and four Prettie Girls, so she has to keep sewing. After that she will move on to the two FR girls in town.
DeleteLove the cut on the last dress. Modest but still a hint of boobage.
ReplyDeleteMuff - Thanks. Sometimes you need to show a hint of boobage. Lol.
