Well, I ventured to the doll room yesterday. Good thing! There was a small little puddle of water in my basement. I traced it to the start of a water heater malfunction. Thank goodness I caught it in time. That could have been disastrous. Morristown could have been flooded out. The repair person is due here tomorrow morning. The little bit of energy I had to try to do a story, was instantly gone. So I decided to get a few more things done on my infamous list. I've been wanting to make some infant clothes for a long time now. Needless to say, sewing clothes this small is a challenge. I got about 3 onesies and a couple of bibs done. Most of the time was spent trying to get the sizing correct. Now I just need to make about 20 more of each, so I never have to do it again. LOL.
I made Emerald a hoodie. The pattern called for velcro, but at the last minute I decided to put a zipper in it. Granted the zipper is a little big, but it's still better than velcro.
Emerald is considering applying for the part time babysitting job for Cameron.
Nice work, I wish I could sew like that. The zipper is a better touch. I don't think I could ever sew for the doll babies, they are so small.
ReplyDeleteDoll Crazy - Thanks. Sewing for the infants is a real pain. But I used a combination of hand sewing and fabric glue. Made it a little better.
DeleteHi, that must have been quite a job, making those little baby clothes! They look super cute :-). The hoodie looks very good with the zipper, with velcro it wouldn't have been so realistic. A good thing you saw the water in your basement!
ReplyDeleteNymphaea - Thanks. I could have made me a whole outfit in the same amount of time it took to make the little clothes.
DeleteGlad you caught the heater issue and those baby clothes look good, I need to put my glasses on and get with that program too Tara will need those items soon.
ReplyDeleteMustiwait - Yes, I had a flooded basement about 10 yrs ago from a busted water heater. I had to redo walls, etc. Now with Morristown down there, it's very scary. Get to sewing, Tara will be giving birth before we know it.
DeleteWow, you have got some serious sewing skills. That hoodie looks like something you would find for sale in a Bieber clothing pack.
ReplyDeleteMuff - Thanks. I USED to have some serious sewing skills. I'm trying to get a little bit of it back. When I sold doll clothes (11' - 18') 10 yrs ago, I put zippers and linings in every thing. Now I feel like I'm starting all over again.
DeleteThose are so good! Very impressive sewing, You are truly talented.
ReplyDeleteValsays - Thanks!
DeleteThe baby clothes are just darling and that hoodie is perfect! Awesome work, Vanessa. Glad you caught the leak in good time. Hope it gets repaired without a hitch. :-)
ReplyDeleteTracy - Thanks! I'm just glad I went to the basement when I did. Thank goodness the leak didn't start while I was laid up for 7 days. I need to make a concerted effort to get all the doll stuff off the floor once and for all. Better safe than sorry.
DeleteYour sewing looks awesome... Omg though, so tiny!!! XD
ReplyDeleteHeather - Thanks! Tiny is an understatement. Next for Cameron is footed sleepers. Wish me luck.
DeleteLove Cameron's new clothes and Emerald's hoodie. I am glad you chose a zipper over Velcro.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you discovered the water heater issue in time!
dbg
DBG - Thanks! I don't know what's going on with the plumbing in my house. I had a bath tub leak 2 weeks ago. I have a small bathroom sink leak, and now the hot water heater leak. Thank goodness for American Home Shield.
DeleteThe baby clothes are just adorable! You must have sewn them all by hand - clothes that small are very hard to make. Also glad you found the leak before things got out of hand. I too have had a problem with the bathroom plumbing in my basement and will have to call a plumber. Now that my dolls are down there, it is important to keep these things up! You mentioned you used a pattern for the hoodie for Emerald -- was it a Mixis pattern or something else?
ReplyDeletePhyllis - Yes the hand sewing I did a couple weeks ago came in handy. I also used some fabric glue in a couple places, like the neck hole and the sleeve. Yes, that is an altered Mixis pattern. Good luck with your plumbing, too! Those things are such a pain.
DeleteNagyon nagy türelemre volt szükséged ezekhez a pici ruhácskákhoz. Nagyon tetszenek, gratulálok hozzá.
ReplyDeleteNuszirom - Köszönöm, és üdvözöljük a blogomban!
DeletePlumbing issues can be painful. You were lucky you caught it in time (although Morristown flooded could lead to some very interesting stories). Your baby outfits and hoodie look great.
ReplyDeleteCarrickters - Thanks. If Morristown had flooded, it might have been like the Atlantis....never to be seen again. lol. For the most part most things are not on the floor. I do need to secure a few more things to make sure they don't get ruined in the event there is a flood down there.
DeleteGreat job on Cameron's clothes. He is the perfect little model. : ) I love the hoodie. Vanessa, is there anything you can't do? Lol. You are super creative.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to catch the leakage in time. God is good.
Georgia Girl - Thanks. God is definitely good. He knew I just couldn't handle a flooded basement.
DeleteHello from Spain: I really like the jacket Emerald is wearing. I like zipper. Great job. Also baby bodies are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fright the flood water in the area of your dolls! Keep in touch
Marta - Thanks. Emerald is excited. She knows she will be getting more clothes over the next few months. She's hoping for something a little more stylish.
DeleteI'm so glad Morrisstown is safe, I would be so heartbroken if the town got flooded. It bad enough dealing with snow and ice. I know what you mean about the small baby clothes, I have a few I need to attempt, especially for Elijah and Brianna twins. It does require a lot of measuring and sizing to get it right. I'm glad you are feeling a little better.
ReplyDeleteBrini - It has been a trying two months. It can only get better from here. I feel good that I at least got some of these old projects started.
DeleteThe baby clothes are adorable as is little Cameron.
ReplyDeleteJust LOVE Emerald's jacket though. The color becomes her, and it is so well done. Sometimes people wear slightly over-sized zippers so that could be a fashion statement. (Although I thought it was perfectly in-scale. The weight of the fabric, too, doesn't look bulky. Yay, yay, Vanessa on your sewing and styling skills!)
Last - thoroughly glad that Morristown was NOT flooded. The loss would be felt worldwide ;-)
D7ana - Thanks. Emerald like her jacket, but she's asking for some more stylish clothes she can wear to impress Guiren.
DeleteThe flood scare reminded me I need to work harder to get everything off the floor. That way any future flooding won't harm the contents of Morristown.
I guess the winter is horrible this year - even for Morristown!
ReplyDeleteLittle Cameron is so cute. And such a shiny baby! LOL! ^o^ Love the hoodie you made. It looks comfortable.
KenyaDoll - Thanks. Yes winter has hit Morristown, too. Lol about shiny Cameron. I think Kendra over did it on the baby lotion.
DeleteJust like my dad who always over did it with the Vaseline on my and my brother's faces as children. When he got done, we looked like shiny plastic toys!
DeleteKenyaDoll - That's hilarious.
DeleteHola, un bebé muy tierno, el suéter es muy cómodo y me gustó mucho, gran trabajo.
ReplyDeletelindaivette - Gracias
DeleteFortunately there wasn't a disaster at Morristown! I hope everything is mended by now. I love the baby clothes, but I just was astonished with the hoodie you did. It is absolutely perfect! And the zip doesn't look as big, I think it fits great. I wish I could do something like that...
ReplyDeleteRossetti - I still don't have a working water heater, yet, but at least Morristown is still in tact. So glad you like the hoodie. I think it helps that she's a slightly bigger doll. The zipper doesn't look so big.
Deletedo you sell doll baby clothes like the ones above but for girls ?
ReplyDeletetoast&cheesedollies - I haven't started selling any baby clothes yet, but I may do so when I get more experience making them.
DeleteOhh, Cameron is really nice with his new little clothes =)
ReplyDeleteI think Esmerlad will be a good babysitter, good luck for her!!
You are a great seamstress! I don't blame you for not having the energy to do a story after that flood scare, I would have had a heart attack! I'm still trying to find the patience to sew baby clothes myself. Great work.
ReplyDeleteMs. Q - Thanks! Making the baby clothes is so much fun. It does take a bit of patience. Good luck!
