Barbershop Accessories

Months ago after I posted the first barbershop story, I went online looking for 1/6 scale barber clippers.  I wasn't able to find any.  It never dawned on me to make them.  That is, until today.  I was starting a book making project, and saw pictures of some barber accessories, whilst I was procrastinating.  The first thing that caught my eye was the little brush.  I felt I could make that.  So I did.  Pulled up pictures of some clippers and made Jason, the barber, a set of those, too.  I didn't even move out of my chair.  Everything I needed was right at hand on my messy, but efficient, new workstation.

They're not perfect, but they will be fine for my stories.  I'll probably shine them up a bit with a coat of gloss. They are both made from polymer clay and the bristles are from a small paintbrush.

Just in case you missed the barbershop, here is a picture of Jason and Darius.

Needless to say that elusive book making project is still not done!  I wonder what else I will create when I start making books again?

  4. Very cute accessories that Jason will find absolutely essential. You do amazing things with polymer clay.
Unfortunately, spam seems to be the price of fame - I hope the verification process works for you.

    1. Carrickters-Thanks. Jason was in desperate need of these. I got one crazy spammer. I have to go remove my email address from different places on the web. I hear that helps.

  5. Your little hair clipper is amazing. Did you make it out of clay? You must see what Martha did with the newspapers and magazines from my blog. If you like you could do it as well.

    1. Duke of Swan - Thanks. Yes I made it from clay. I'll check out your papers, but it could be months before I get around to printing them. Most of the time my stories are done so quickly and, I'm just grabbing things that are nearby. Thanks for the offer.

    1. Muff - I should have just hired you to make me some books. They'd be done by now. But where's the joy in that? At least I get some nice things made in the meantime.

  8. Great to see that you can make such neat accessories with polymer clay! The Wizard of Oz play set (not related to the new movie) has a set of barber scissors in it. Years ago there was a bearded Ken whom you could "shave" by putting cold water on his face. He had a razor, and a shaving cup. Sorry you've been afflicted with spam.

    1. limbe dolls - I remember Shaving Ken. I almost bought him about 4 yrs ago. He was $16.95 at TRU and I passed. I will have to take a look at the WOO barber scissors. If all else fails, I can use the pair that came with the LIV set. I will probably make a razor knife. I think the spam will go away soon. It's just one person selling juice.

    1. Claude - Thanks! The cord is made from sewing thread. It just happened to be sitting next to my computer and I was too lazy to get up and get something else. I guess I could have made battery operated clippers.
