Family Dinner Time (Photostory)

Debbie and her two kids are having dinner at Sashimi.  They are joined by Debbie's younger sister.

"So what time is Patrick getting here?" (Debbie's sister)
"He just sent me a text saying he's on the way."  (Debbie)
"Aren't you guys too old to go out on a date?"  (Debbie's son)

In the next booth over, Kara has just arrived with Jolisa, to have dinner with her mother-in-law, and her sisters-in-law.

"Hello guys.  I hope I'm not too late."  (Kara)
"Hi grandma."  (Jolisa)

"No, you're not that late.  We just got our drinks and were looking over the menu.  Awww, come to grandma."  (Mother-in-law)

Melanie and Nicole are halfway through their dinner.

"So how did you do on your math test?"  (Melanie)

"I think I did okay, but the teacher hasn't graded it yet."  (Nicole)

At the front entrance, Halle and Diego have arrived and are waiting to be seated.  The waitress spots them and heads their way.  Apparently the restaurant is short staffed tonight.

"So are we going to set a date for our cruise?"  (Diego)
"I didn't bring my planner, with me."

"Auntie, what are we going to do tonight?"  (Kathryn)

"I thought we'd go to the movies."  (Auntie)
"Yes, and we're going to pick something really scary."  (Patrick, Jr.)
"Noooo.  I don't like scary movies."  (Kathryn)

The waitress leads Halle and Diego to their table.
(Sidenote:  Both the waitress and Halle are standing without any aids. These are the third wave of fashionista bodies, I think.)

"And what have you been up to little lady?  How's school?"  (Grandma)

"Fine.  I have two new friends."  (Jolisa)

"What can I get you two to drink?"  (Waitress)
"I'll have a white wine."  (Halle)
"Can I just get a glass of water to start?"  (Diego)

The restaurant owner peers at the door to see new guests have arrived.  He's pretty miffed that the hostess for the night called in sick at the last minute.  His daughter is coming in to help, but she won't be there for another half an hour.

The waitress heads to the front to tend to the new guests.  She passes by Melanie's table.

Melanie is busy handling a work text that just came in.  She doesn't even notice,

that Rod and Danielle have arrived.  It doesn't take long for Rod to spot Melanie and Nicole.

"Melanie and Nicole are here."  (Rod)
"And?  You're not suggesting we leave, are you?"  (Danielle)
"No, I was just stating a fact."  (Rod)

"Mommy, mommy, that's Nicole.  Can I go say hi?"  (Julian)

  2. What a graceful looking lady Kara's mother-in-law seems. I wonder though why Danielle's first assumption is for Rod too want to leave though. Excellent photostory!

    1. Verona - I love the older ladies in town. I think they need to get together and have a luncheon. Maybe it was something in Rod's voice that caused Danielle to make that assumption.

  3. No, Julian! Don't go over there because if Melanie says something snippy to you Danielle is going to set it off!

My two favorite couples in one room! JOY!

Do you have this set up outside or by a window, because the lighting on all the photos is fantastic.

    2. Muff - It might turn real ugly if Melanie says the wrong thing. I can already tell that Danielle's tone instantly changed.

This setup is in my basement, and not near any windows. I have two lights shining in from the top and the rest of the light is just from the overheads in the basement. I was surprised how it turned out because I didn't have to do hardly anything by way of software manipulation.

    1. Marta - Thanks. Again I wanted to show dolls that haven't been getting a lot of camera time. The restaurant is the best place to do that.

  9. Danielle sounds like she's about to get her Vaseline and flats out. I want Julian to stay close to his family, Melanie can be mean woman at times.

    1. Courtnee - LOL! Danielle does sound like she is not in the mood for any craziness. Some time has passed, so maybe Melanie isn't as mean, now. I won't know until after I shoot the next show.

    1. Madison - Hello! Thanks for commenting and thanks for being a fan. I'm glad you have enjoyed my stories. I hate to disappoint a fan, but my schedule is so crazy busy that I just don't have time to do tutorials. I haven't even found time to do any more videos lately. There are tons of doll sofa tutorials on YouTube. Just type in 'doll sofa tutorials' in the search box. My tour of the old Morristown, will give you an idea of how my houses are done. Here is a link. http://vansdolltreasures.blogspot.com/2012/06/surprise-mini-tour-of-morristown.html

  11. Melanie can be a meanie, but boy can she dress. Love her sheath. So urbane she looks. The haircut/style becomes her character and her face.

Noooo Julian. But hey, he's a kid and he's got that littlest of crushes on Nicole. So cute.

I love your restaurant scenes, too. Great way to get your folks out and about without glomming up someone's living room. Oops, lol.

    1. D7ana - I want Melanie's haircut and her wardrobe. lol. Maybe Melanie isn't as mean as she was before. I think that anger was coming from a place of pain. Maybe she has healed a bit. It has been over a year now.

  12. Oh Snap! I agree with Muff and Courtnee Colvin! Melanie can be mean woman at times and I don't think that Danielle is in the mood for her nonsense!

  14. Love your dio, it's full of details and it really looks as a real size restaurant. I cannot imagine the time you spent creating it, and taking all those full of life pictures. Congratulations on your work!

    1. Rossetti - Thanks! I must confess, it didn't take long to create the dio itself. I've mastered the art of creating quick dios. lol. The thing that takes the longest is getting the dolls dressed. I keep saying I'm not going to have a lot of dolls in a story, but somehow there is always a whole lot of people showing up to be photographed. lol.
