The McGraws Return Home

The McGraws have just returned from the grocery store.

William heads for the sofa, and Kate does the same.
(This is the Ikea sofa painted white.  Whenever I need a pink sofa, I will just add the slipcover.)

"Whew, I'm tired."  (Kate)
"Me, too.  Can I watch cartoons now?"  (William)
"Yes, but only for a little while."  (Kate)

Tim sits the bag on the table.  He will leave the 'putting away' to Kate.

"Turn it to another cartoon channel.  That one is for bigger kids."  (Kate)

"Kate, I'll be outside.  The groceries are here on the table."  (Tim)
"Does that mean you aren't going to put them away?"  (Kate)

Tim doesn't respond.  He just heads to the backyard.

He stands out there contemplating what all needs to get done before the guests arrive tomorrow.  I wonder who's coming to their cookout?

  1. I like the McGraws home. Yay! A cookout. I can't wait to see who is coming. Did you do any barbecue chicken?

  2. LOL, I like how he just ignored her comment. I would have been like, "I carried 'em in here and now you want me to put 'em away too!?"

    1. Muff - I'm sure Tim said those very words to himself. Grocery shopping is tiresome. I know how she feels.

    1. William - Thanks. I would check on Ikea's website occasionally to see if they add it to the catalog.

  6. Poor guys, they both seem very tired! It's a good idea to paint the sofa in another color. I don't know why Ikea chose pink for the sofa. If the objects of that kit are replicas from the ones in the store, shouldn't the sofa be some other color?

    1. V. - It's been a long day for everyone. I think it would have been nice to do the base of the sofa a neutral color and then put the pink cover over it. I'm sure their target market was little girls, and let's face it, many little girls love pink. I just spent some time with a 6 yr old. We were playing make-up games on the Ipad. Just about every thing she chose was pink and glittery. I asked her why. It was her favorite color. And to hear her talk about glitter, you would have thought she won the lottery. I then imagined a whole group of test market girls expressing their love of pink and glitter.

    1. Heather - I used my favorite 2X American Accent spray paint, from Walmart. I buy the white 2X paint from Walmart because the white from Home Depot has the primer in it, and the coverage isn't as great.

  9. Hello from Spain: great idea to paint the chair from Ikea. I like the blue and white kitchen. Nice pictures. Last week I painted silvery pink Barbie barbecue. I see you too. I try to create an Real furniture. The cookouts are always fun. Keep in touch

    1. Marta - Yes, I am enjoying getting all my furniture painted. I painted my grill over two years ago, and I love how realistic it looks.

  10. You know, you have done more with that house than I would have ever done! It feels good to see it in used sooo well! I like the idea of the windows too! You seem to do something different for each time you use it. Yeah the one who bring in the food shouldn't have to put it away too. I found the Ikea set the other day! Well I went there after seeing yours! I purchased two. I hope to post it and with it soon. I have never seen a pink sofa in Ikea but I don't shop there much. I like the white too. You will get more use out of it that way. Since you are taking requests, I am hoping to see snackie foods there. I am a nibbler and like snackie foods.

    1. Ms. Leo - I'm still very happy you sold this house. It has really come in handy. Congrats on getting your Ikea sets. It's such a steal of a deal. I'll try to make sure there are snacks at the cookout. No promises, though.

  13. Love what you've done with the place! I have that house too, and have been thinking on how I could expand the upstairs. I have already purchased some supplies, but probably won't get started until we move down to the basement.

  14. Me, I LOVE grocery shopping. All the pitty food and nice bakery and fruit smells. Inhales. I put the food away, too. No problemo.

Love how cozy that house looks now. Fun to see the McGraws too.

  15. Typical male - but then on the other hand, when they do put things away, they are never in the right place so maybe it's better Kate does it herself. Painting the sofa white is a great idea.
