It's All About the Handbag

Even in the doll world, a great accessory can make all the difference.  I received three gorgeous handbags in the mail last week.  And I'm still smiling.

Left to right:  Coach handbag and glasses, Snakeskin purse handmade by Kate at BarbieDream.blogspot.com, and Greenish gray snakeskin bag by our friend Jewelsnake.  Jewelsnake is a frequent commenter on my blog.  A couple of months ago, I helped facilitate an ebay sale for her.  She lives in Poland and the Ebay seller didn't ship internationally.  Since Jewelsnake had purchased one of my dolls, that was due to ship out, she wondered if I would bid on the Ebay doll and ship the two at the same time.  I said sure.  She wanted to send me a gift for helping out.  Of course, I said that wasn't necessary.  Last week, the two snakeskin bags arrived from Poland as my thank you!  Talk about surprised.  The greenish/grayish snakeskin bag was her first attempt at making a handbag.  I think she did a fabulous job.  Thanks again, Jewelsnake!  As for the brown snakeskin bag, I had left a comment on Kate's blog about how much I liked that bag.  Jewelsnake saw that comment, and that's how she got the idea to gift it to me.  Again I say, doll people are the greatest!  All three of these handbags are headed to Ni'Chalet's.

Look who got a new body.  It's only temporary because it's not the best color match.  She was supposed to stay boxed until I finished organizing the basement.  Heck that basement may never get completely organized.

With all the rain we've been having in Georgia, the past two months, I feel it's the perfect time to show this lady.

This trench coat is even more fabulous than I first thought.

It has amazing details.  Here I'm showing how the sleeves are sewn at the elbow.  The wrist details are great, too.

The skirt is ultrasuede with a really nice waistband and closes in the front with two snaps.  This is a smaller skirt, and will not properly fit all body types.

The knit top is cute and closes with velcro.

Coach Barbie takes a rest as Karla shows the other two bags.

It's a nice large handbag that opens and closes with a snap.

It's has a shoulder strap and handles.

The greenish/gray handbag is almost an exact replica of the brown bag.

Here the two ladies are taking a rest.  One thing about the Coach shoes.  Even though they are plastic, I really like them.  They are very soft and able to fit different doll feet because of their pliability.

New food items will be hitting the Etsy store soon.  Here's a little preview.
A marble chocolate cake with almond slivers.

Chocolate marble ice cream with almonds on a waffle cone.

Similar to turtle ice cream, but instead of chocolate chunks, it has almonds.

    1. Grandmommy - Don't Do It! Go to the store, that is. I'm going to have frozen bananas with a little cocoa to satisfy my ice cream fix. May I suggest something a little healthier than ice cream? lol.

  3. Loving the purses and the wardrobe that Coach Barbie came with. That ice cream is really tempting me and there's a 31 flavors way closer to me than I'd like, LOL. I have really been enjoying your stories, Vanessa and love your character's home decor. I've been reduced to using my daughter's iPad for now and it's not so much fun to leave comments with. But...I've been reading everyone's stories.

Can't wait to see what's next in Morristown...

  4. Thanks, Coach Barbie and Karla, for sharing the lovely handbags in Morristown. I look forward to finding out who buys what.

You know Old Joe had his face plastered to the computer screen when he saw your ice cream in waffle cones! Old Joe LOVES ice cream.

    1. D7ana - My dolls always enjoy showing their new stuff as long as they don't have to part with it. Is there anything that Old Joe doesn't like? They two of you have that food thing in common.

    2. LOL. I don't like brussel sprouts - Joe doesn't like those either. I don' t like okra ... but he likes that.

My biggest board on Pinterest is my food one. So many beautiful photos ;-D

  5. I, again, love EVERYTHING about Coach Barbie... Mine arrived today and I am completely over the moon. That coat is divine. Better than any that I own. Even though they are plastic the shoes are fabulous. The purse is--to die for! I love it. I love the doll as well. It would have been nice if she was pivotal, but I have an extra Elvis Barbie just for her.

    1. Onyyx - Again congrats on your doll. I can tell you are just as excited as I was. I only have one other pair of shoes that are that flexible. It's nice because they can stretch to fit the FR dolls.

  6. Sorry. I am using an iPad which really sucks for commenting. Love all your new food items. Please don't tempt my greedy dolls. And what a nice Dollie friend you are to help an international collector. It really is sad what that mailing international is such a stigma for some people. Great snakeskin like bags too.

    1. Onyyx - I empathize with the international community. And since I hate exorbitant shipping charges in general, I like to offer inexpensive options when possible. Send your greedy dolls to my Etsy site. LOL.

    1. Georgia Girl - Thanks! I love handbags, but in real life, I get lazy when it comes to changing them out. So I have no need for a lot of real handbags. Enjoying them in miniature is so much more fun.

    1. Indy_Poppy - That is a sharp trench. I'm sure you could probably find that in real life. As a matter of fact, I just found a link to it in your size. It's only $800. lol.

  9. I enjoyed her clothes so much I never even noticed that the Coach Barbie wasn't articulated. I can feel my dolls looking over my shoulder at those bags. However, I have told them a thousand times, if I cant buy it at Walmart, I don't need it and neither do they.

    1. Muff - You know the collectible Barbies rarely get articulated bodies. One day your dolls are going to revolt and go shopping while you are sleeping. You could make them some nice handbags. Just get out that needle and thread. We know how much you love sewing. lol.

  12. It was very sweet of Jewelsnake to send the two bags to you. This is a good example that one good deed deserves another. It was equally nice of you to bid and win the ebay auction for her.

I love everything about the Coach fashion. Thanks for sharing the detail. I wish it had also been sold separately.

I just hope Mattel at least sell the other Coach bags they showed initially. They would be crazy not to. Based on the sale of the doll, those handbags would go in no time.

    1. Vita Plastica - I just had to spend a lot of money getting a tree removed last week. Every time it rained, I cringed thinking of that tree falling on my house. I've had 3 fall since I've lived here. Two months of rain is not helping. Our little doll family is the best.

  17. Thank you for your kindness and your help! I'm so happy you like the bags, especially Kate's one is great, mine is just a copy, I'm ashamed of it, should've do something original, unfortunatelly I have a very bad and stressful time so I'm lacking of creativity. Hopefuly, if things get better, I will try again, this time less inspired and more original.
Coach Barbie is perfect in every detail, her clothes are so good too! Modern and simple, and so natural!

You'r ice creams looks like real, before I read describtion I was sure they are normal ones! This second one, with caramel looks so tasty!

    1. jewel snake - Don't be ashamed of your bag. At least you bought Kate's bag and then was inspired to make one. She still made the sale, and now more people know about her work. So it all worked out great.

Glad you like it. I assure you it's not real. I wish it were. Caramel is my favorite, so that's the one I would have eaten.

Kate, your bag looks lovely, too.

  19. It's way too cold for icecream here though they do look nice. The bags are gorgeous (and very sweet of Jewelsnake to send those two to you as a thank you) and it's a good thing you have three because I can see a riot at N'Chalet when they go on sale.

    1. Rossetti - She is sold out at the two places she was being sold. I think it only took 2 - 3 weeks for her to sell out. I don't think it will be hard to match her body. I just took the first body I could get my hands on.

  24. I tried to post a comment the other day, but I don't know what happened. I love the coat, but the I have a coat fixation. Your ice cream is amazingly realistic! I got the shoes Karla is wearing in the extra doll stuff I got with the big pile of dolls I showed a couple of weeks ago. Where are they from originally?
