Prepping for the Cookout (Photostory)

It's the morning of the cookout and Kate is getting some of the meats prepped for the grill.  The brownies she made the night before are sitting on the buffet.  She's already boiled the corn on the cob, which is sitting on the stove.

Little William enters the kitchen.  He's been watching Thomas the Train, but it's now over.

"Hey precious. Did you come to keep mommy company? (Kate)

Tim comes downstairs and enters the kitchen.
"Honey, I have the burgers and the steaks ready for the grill."  (Kate)

"Great, but I don't want to start the meats until the guests arrive." (Tim)
"Don't you think it's best to have some of the food ready ahead of time?"  (Kate)
"Relax.  Leave the grilling to me."  (Tim)

**DING DONG**

"Come in.  It's open!"  (Kate)

It's Tracey, Tim's sister.

"Hello guys.  I thought I'd come a little early just in case you needed some help."  (Tracey)

"Well that was nice of you.  We have it all under control at the moment.  But you can keep me company."  (Kate)
"Hey sis.  I thought you were bringing a friend."  (Tim)
"Nope.  I'm flying solo today."  (Tracey)

"Hello cutie pie.  Can auntie have a hug?"  (Tracey)

"You know I really came early just to see your handsome face."  (Tracey)
Little Will is pretty speechless.  He tends to get that way around aunt Tracey.  I think he has a little crush on her.

Tracey takes a seat, keeping Will close at hand.

"Well I will stick these in the fridge.  You can grab them when you are ready."  (Kate)
"Okay.  I'm going out to get the grill started."  (Tim)

Kate finally gets the meats put in the fridge.

"Can I get you something to drink?  I have soda, juice, wine, and water."  (Kate)

"Do you have Pepsi or Coke?"  (Tracey)
"I have both."  (Kate)
"I'll take Pepsi."  (Tracey)

Kate brings the Pepsi and then gets the corn on the cob off the stove.

Kate transfers the partially cooked corn to the foil pan.  She's planning to stick them on the grill to let them get a little smoky flavor from the grill.

"So what happened to your plus one?"  (Kate)
"I never said anything about a plus one."  (Tracey)
Kate and Tracey continue chatting as Kate continues prepping.  Won't be long before the rest of the guests arrive.

I finally made some corn on the cob.  This has been on my list for a long time.  I have plenty of plastic fake looking corn from Mattel playsets, which is why I never got around to making my own.  It'a s little crooked.  Next time it will be straighter.  I whipped up the batch of brownies and the meat today, too.  I still hope to get some barbeque chicken done.

Tracey is one of the Tim Gunn dolls.  I had to quickly give her a temp body, because I really like her and think she makes the perfect sister for Tim.

  1. So sweet little Will having a crush on the aunt! The corn looks very "real", much better than Mattel's.

  3. I love this family! Kate is so beautiful!
I like the pictures and little William for example where his auntie asks for a hug :) He is very cute :)

What is the name of the series William comes from? I am thinking of change my Emma doll a bit later and maybe a Chelsea doll would be too much older. So I thought William's age would be perfect for the next Emma.

The corn looks grate! I would like to eat one :D

    1. Rosemary - Thank. Hard to believe I picked Kate up for $2 at a doll show. She has a unique look. I can't remember what they were calling the Kelly friends set he was part of. There were two different sets with four dolls each. Ciana, William, and Sunni's daughter, were all part of the set I got. There's one other girl, but she's not part of the stories yet. I was looking on ebay, but I started seeing too many things I wanted to buy, so I had to stop looking.

  4. Some ears of corn are irregular shaped in real life so I think your polymer clay corn looks fine. I love Tracey's short set.

    1. Heather - They have a small kitchen, but Kate makes the most of it. Don't Tim and Tracey look like they could be related? I thought so, too. Kate is glad you approve of her choice.

    1. william - Thanks. Mine was just sitting there on her Model Muse body. I quickly popped her head off and took this body from one of my other dolls. I'm glad to finally use her. I think she is so pretty.

    2. Vanessa- Yes she is a pretty doll. I really fell in love with her clothes. I wish Mattel would make good , quality clothes like that all the time.

    3. william - I do like that Mattel is making better quality clothes, but they still need to continue with the $3 outfits, too. The little girls need to be able to buy clothes for their dolls, too. Even those $20 outfits are too expensive for the average buyer.

    4. I hear ya! I just wish they would make clothes for the little kids as well. I remember they use to make tommy and kelly outfits which were sold seperately. Oh the good ole days!
