Aquarium Story Research

Yesterday, my boyfriend treated me to a trip to the aquarium for my birthday.  Yes, this is the birthday that keeps on giving.  LOL.  I've been to the Georgia Aquarium a couple of times, but it was years ago.  On my list of doll stories is one to an aquarium.  I've been collecting things for the story for many months now.  I knew a trip to a real aquarium would be great research and inspiration.  I am sharing some of the photos with you.  I plan to use some of them in my doll story.  Should be interesting.

The first ten or so pictures are taken in a tunnel that you walk through.

Grouper
School of Sting Rays
Jelly Fish

There were about 3 beluga whales there.  They were quite playful.  They were putting on their own little show for the audience.
Beluga Whale
Beluga Whale
Starfish
Dragonfish
Penguin
Sting rays you could touch
Alligators
Eel
Piranahs - they weren't moving at all.
The next six pictures were taken in an area where you could just sit and watch the fish.  I could have stayed there for hours.

Green Frog
Isn't he cute?

The last thing we did was see the Dolphin Tales show.  It was my first dolphin show, and I was thoroughly impressed.  Below are a couple of the dolphins that performed.

I had a wonderful time and I can't wait to do the aquarium story.  It will still be a little while, though.  I need to finish up a few stories before moving to this one.

  2. Great photos and they will be wonderful inspiration for your story. It will be one to look forward to. Your comment about watching the fish for hours made me laugh. One of our TV channels here in Australia used to show "Fishcam" (which was just fish in their studio swimming around their aquarium bowl) when they off air and it was one of their most popular shows.

    1. Carrickters - LOL, that Fishcam sounds hilarious. I took some shots at the aquarium that I will use to make realistic 1/6 scale aquariums.

  3. Nice pics Vanessa. I have never gone to the Georgia Aquarium (I know shame on me-Lol) but I have gone to the one in South Carolina. The really sad part is that it was 2 blocks away from my job until we relocated a month ago. I'm glad you had fun and that you are still celebrating your birthday. That is definitely the way to do it.

    1. Georgia Girl - You really need to go soon and take your boys. Make sure you do the 3D Wondershow and the Dolphin show. Both are free with general admission. They have a special for $19.95 after 6pm during some of the summer months. But it's worth full price if you can't make that.

    1. sisilovessinging - I'm so happy you've had a chance to experience aquariums. The Georgia one is the only one I've been to so far. There's one in Tennessee that I've considered visiting. Maybe in the near future.

  9. In the summers the Georgia Aquarium had jazz musicians on Friday evenings. An ex boyfriend took me there a couple of times and the whole atmosphere was truly enchanting.

Since you have all these great pictures you can composite some very cool shots. Looking forward to the story!

    1. limbe dolls - Yes, one of my ex-boyfriends took me to Friday night jazz at the aquarium. At the time, I was not doing too well, and he had to wheel me around in a wheelchair, because I could barely walk. This time it felt great being able to walk around the whole aquarium!

  10. Oh that's really cool, we have an aquarium in Melbourne but I've never been to it. I think this has inspired me to go.

  12. OMG, I love aquarium photos but I HATE going to them. I feel like I'm going to have a panic attack because I just know that the glass is going to break. I haven't been in one since I was a teen - still love to look at the photos, though, lol.

    1. Muff - Wow, that must be a scary feeling. I'm in the process of facing all my fears. I don't have many, but mice and frogs are on the list. So I made sure I went to the frog exhibit and spent time there. As for the mice, when I was at the pet store a couple weeks ago, I stood in front of their cage and took it all in. Even the long creepy tail. I'm trying to encourage everyone that I know to face their fears. It's never as bad as one expects. Glad you enjoyed the photos.

  14. We had to get our $$ worth so we waited around for a show. The singing got on my nerves but it was still very good. If you ever get a chance to see a show outdoors like Sea World - now that is spectacular! We saw one in San Diego - Dolphins & Whales.
