Sophia's Bedtime (Photostory)

This post is really about the new crib I just posted in my Etsy store, but it was a great way to squeeze in more time with Sophia.  The baby changing station is from one of Mattel's Happy Family sets.  I was thinking about using it for Kendra's nursery.  It doesn't currently match Kendra's crib, but I will see if I can make it work.  I think it's a really nice color for a little boys nursery.  I do have the missing drawer.  I just forgot to paint it.

Sylvia and the girls ran a few errands after leaving the horse ranch.  It's now late, and she is getting ready to put Sophia to bed.

"Mom can we call dad, so I can ask him about the camping trip?"  (Jessica)

"I already told you, you can ask him when he gets home.  Why don't you make yourself useful.  Come pull out the baby's tub, so I can give Sophia her bath."  (Sylvia)

"Oooh, can I put the water in, too?"  (Jessica)
"Yes.  Make sure it nice and warm."  (Sylvia)
"Okay."  (Jessica)

Jessica successfully puts the bath water in the tub.

"So when is Dad going to be home?"  (Jessica)
"He will be home when he walks through the door.  And honey, it's time for us to retire that shirt.  It's way too small for you."  (Sylvia)
"But it's my favorite shirt."  (Jessica)
"Yes, but we can't have you walking around half naked.  You have plenty of clothes in your closet that fit.  Now go run your bath water.  You smell like the stable."  (Sylvia)

Sylvia undresses Sophia and puts her in her tub.

"Awww, you like that don't you?"  (Sylvia)

"Have I told you how much I love you?  Yes.  Mommy loves you soooo much."  (Sylvia)

Sylvia dresses Sophia for bed and places her in the crib.  She then sings her one of her favorite lullabys.
"Nighty nite, sweetie."  (Sylvia)

Sophia lays there quietly, while Sylvia cleans up.

Again, this crib is now in the Etsy store.
The mattress is snug enough that is can be raised to different heights. Raise it high for the newborn and lower it for the larger babies.

The bumper pad is removable.  The sheet is also removable.  I plan to make and sell separate baby bedding in the Etsy store.  So buy one crib and use it for different babies.

    1. coolsinger - Yes, Jessica has to let that shirt go. We have one more baby shower story and then she will be ready to deliver. I can't give an actual date just yet.

If Jessica likes the shirt that much maybe she should recycle it into pillow? :)

    1. jewel snake - Thanks. The pillow idea is a good out one, but we have some smaller girls here who could really use some new clothes.

  8. maybe Jessica could wear a vest over the shirt that the zipper stops where the design begins or she can put it on a teddy bear of hers

    1. Leandra - Hello! Welcome to my blog. The vest idea could work. Knowing Jessica, she will come up with some bright idea to keep her favorite shirt.

  9. The crib looks great.

Love Sylvia's comment about dad being home when he walks in the door. Oh and about that half-top that Jessica has on. Showing my age, I suppose ;-P

  13. Your crib and bedding are lovely and Sophia looks very content in it. I'm sure Jessica's top can be upcycled into one that she can wear and makes her mum happy -you could add a frill or a band to the bottom to make it longer.

    1. Carrickters - Thanks. Sophia slept like a bsby. lol. As for the shirt, I think this is the perfect time for Jessica to learn the fine art of donating old clothes to others who can use it.

  14. Beautiful crib. I love the difference in the way she talks to Jessica and Sophia. Once they start talking, they start talking back!

  15. for some reason the reply button wont work for me but anyway... I got another idea when I recently got a clothing pattern for american girl. Maybe you could add a layered mini skirt to it to make a pretty shirt.

    1. Leandra - That is a good idea, but I really don't have the time to alter this garment for Jessica. She will have to wear the other clothes in her closet. This shirt will likely go to Nikaya.

  16. LOL though you were advertising, this was dead on keepin it real!! I can't tell you how many times I've said you smell like a puppy - so that was putting it nicely. I am going start using stable - it still sounds more delicate than "a dog" and its hilarious. I also love - he'll be home when he walks through the door.
