Finally Poppy Dolls

I have wanted a Poppy doll for a couple of years now, but the secondary prices on Poppy dolls was more than I was willing to pay.  I even considered joining the W Club just to increase my chances of getting one at retail.  I would have ended up spending a lot more money on other club dolls, so I decided against that.  So when the recent line of Poppy dolls was announced a couple of months ago, I was able to get two of them on pre-order.  I really wanted the one from India, but she was sold out.

I ended up getting "Spicy in Spain", and "Pretty in Polynesia".

There are a total of five new Poppys and they are all lovely.  From top to bottom: Sweet in Switzerland, Joyful in Japan, Pretty in Polynesia, Irresistible in India, and Spicy in Spain.

"We made it."  (Polynesia)

"Looks like we landed in a kitchen."  (Spain)

"I sure hope they don't think I'm going to be cooking around here."  (Polynesia)
"I'm just ready to get out of this box."  (Spain)

"Need some help?"  (Spain)
"I guess I got a little stiff on the plane ride."  (Polynesia)
"Hang on.  I'll help you."  (Spain)

"Your ribbons are much tighter than mine were. There we go."  (Spain)

"I wonder where everyone is?"  (Spain)

"Maybe we are the only dolls here."  (Polynesia)

"I sure hope not.  Don't get me wrong, you are a pretty girl and all, but I was really hoping to meet a nice gentleman when I got to this place called Morristown." (Spain)

"I was just kidding.  Word has it, Morristown is full of nice men.  I'm sure you will be fine."  (Polynesia)

I can now cross Poppy off my list.  I love that they are the similar in size to the Barbies.  They have really nice bodies with great articulation.  Both the outfits are very well made, complete with linings.

  1. Beautimous dolls! (and in my dictionary, yes "beautimous"is a word;))
I can't wait to hear how Spicy in Spain's love life is coming along
I can't wait to see how they fit into Morristown!
Also, Vanessa have you considered any of the Dolls of the world collection from barbie collector? I have the one from Chile and I was wondering what you thought of them.
    One more thing.... ¿hablas espanol??
    Gracias,

    1. Cachrtas - Hola! Thanks for visiting my blog. No I don't speak Spanish, but I have a great translator when necessary. I've used the word beautimous myself, so I concur that it is a word. LOL. I love the DOTW. I have a few of them, but they are still boxed. I will probably get the new Moroccan DOTW and add her to the stories.

    1. Rosemary - How have you missed the ever so popular Poppy doll? There is a whole blog site that acts as a resource guide for all the released Poppy dolls. You can check it out here. http://poppyparker.blogspot.com/

I think they will be named Polly and Martina. Polly because it's similar to Polynesia, and Martina because she's from Spain and it's similar to our blogging friend Marta from Spain.

  4. This serie reminds me a lot of DOTW.
Both dolls are pretty and clothes look good too. I especially like Spanish one. Will you use them in your story?

    1. jewel snake - I agree with the DOTW comment. These dolls cost 4 times what I normally pay for a doll, so they will have to work 4 times as hard to earn their keep. So yes, they will be used in the stories.

  6. Congratulations on your Poppies. Seriously, they could not have found their way to a nicer person. And I love the one in the black blouse...I think that's Spain, not sure, but she is beautiful! (Can't wait until you discover their personalities and we have stories to read).

    1. Georgia Girl - I am super excited. The dealer I used didn't post them until the day after most other dealers, so I was up early to get one. They had four of the five, which is how I ended up with two of them. If I had the money, I would have gotten all four.

  8. Congrats Vanessa! Great purchases you have there! I really love the Polynesian one. I wouldn't mind getting one, but my budget won't allow for Integrity dolls right now. LOL Can't wait to see how you use them in your stories. :-)

    1. Cindi - Thanks. They were a splurge for me. My birthday is in a couple of weeks, so they are part of my gift to me. I just thought of that as I was typing this response. Of course we know in a couple of weeks I will forget that and buy something else for my birthday, too. LOL!

  9. Hello Vanessa!
I always wanted a poppy as well, but here in Brasil we dont have sellers that have poppys, and on ebay, they are really expensive, so i just have to wait!
    Congratulations!

    1. Ale - Hello and welcome to my blog! It's even hard for us to get our hands on Poppy without paying really high prices. If we don't get them on pre-order, we are out of luck, too. Hope you are able to add one to your collection in the future.

  10. how much did they cost I might get spain or japan if they are in my allowance range for mothers for my dolls. I have about 20 kids (most were on sale) and only seven adults.^^

    1. Leandra - Retail they were $89, but they aren't available for retail anymore. They are already going for $160 - $250 on ebay. You may want to check the dollpages to find other dolls as moms. Different Poppy dolls are released every year. The easiest way to get one for retail is to join the W club. The other way is to learn who the dealers are, and be ready to order the minute they are released by Integrity.

    2. Leandra - Yes. Dollpages is a site where collectors can sell doll and doll stuff. Here is the link. http://www.thedollpage.com/ads/

  11. Ohh, so pretty! I didn't know they were the same size as Barbies?! I always thought they were like 16 inches or something, or maybe that's the male FRs???

    1. Muff - A number of people have responded to your questions, but I will reiterate that the original Poppy dolls were Barbie size. Last year they came out with the 16" version. But, the majority of the Poppys are Barbie size. FR ladies and men are a tad bit taller than Barbie, but they can still work in the Barbie stories. My Adele and my Naisha are both FR size. Darius is FR size, too.

  12. I like how you showcase them! Congrats :-)
I wanted Sweet in Switzerland and Irresistible in India, but they were sold out when they came out on Integrity web site, so I'm looking for affordable prices for Italy at the secondary market.

@ Muff: Basically Poppy dolls are the same sizes as barbies, but there are some 16" versions, this line is called Fashion Teen Poppy Parker to distinguish it from the 12" line.

    1. Sergio - Thanks! I would have been upset if I had missed out again. I was tense the whole time. I didn't want to even mention them until they arrived at my house. I kept thinking something crazy was going to happen and I would never get them. Good luck finding the one you want.

  13. congrats on getting spain and polynesia! I snagged japan and spain, I actually wanted them all!lol...Poppy is one of my favorites to collect.

Muff, the W Club does make a 16 inch Poppy/Tulabelle and also 16 inch fashion dolls called the Avant Guardes. Their male dolls (the Hommes) measure somewhere about 12-13 inches, and they have several lines in the Fashion Royalty 12" doll line. Expensive, but well worth it when you join the club at the beginning of the year.

    1. Lisa - I wanted them all, too. I've been so envious of all the Poppy doll collectors. Glad to finally be a part of the Poppy team. I can't wait to redress these ladies. I saw Japan redressed on flickr and she is gorgeous. I can't wait to see Spain with her hair out, too. That's one of the reasons I picked her. India's hair is so intricate, I would have been afraid to ever take it down.

  15. Congrats, they are lovely! I will definitely be enjoying them from your posts because I do not have any Integrity anything on my list, LOL. It's going to be really interesting to see who they get paired up with because unlike me, you're awesome at keeping secrets and I know you've got some handsome gentlemen (and kids) around Morristown that have yet to be introduced. :)

    1. Tracy - The ladies will do their best to represent. They know it's a miracle they are even here. I have a couple of guys in mind already. I just have to see if there is chemistry. I may check on that later tonight.

  17. The Integrity dolls are beautiful and I have a number on my wish list - but it will be a while before I can afford them. Congratulations on your purchase and it will be interesting to see their effect on the men of Morristown.

    1. Carrickters - I've been really fortunate to add the other four (Adele, Colette, Jordan and Darius) for really good prices. The Poppys were really tough to get for a good price, but it was worth the effort. I wouldn't mind having a Natalia. She's the only other one that I would want.
