Look Who Turned 3 and 8!

My stepgrandaughter just turned three last week.  I can't believe how much she's grown since I saw her just two months ago.  Amazing!  They don't waste any time getting big.
Her shirt says "sweet as a cupcake".  Her sandals are way cuter than mine.  I need to step up my game.

She had her birthday party at McDonalds.

I swear she's grown a whole foot since March.

Awwww, her mom says she keeps asking about Bruce, so she bought her one of the dogs that moves and makes noise.  I just noticed, this is the same dog that always attacks me when I go to Target.  I almost bought the dog myself, just because he was barking at me so loudly.

Speaking of Bruce, he turned 8 at the end of April.  He just got a haircut yesterday.  Hard to tell in this picture, but I'm still honing my grooming skills.  He looked like a little bear before the haircut.  This is his second haircut by me, since arriving in March.  I'm slowly working my way to giving him a close cut.  He loves getting groomed, especially the hair dryer part.

Candid shot from the baby shower of an unfinished food table.  Won't be long now.

This is a trial run of me making Kendra's baby.  I knew awhile ago that I wanted to try to sculpt her baby.  Don't look too closely at his face.  I smushed it by mistake and baked it before I realized it was messed up.  For this face, I actually used a small mold, just to get the sizing right.  The first couple of heads I sculpted without a mold kept coming out too big.  Now I have a reference and I will be able to free sculpt it to the right size.  The body and limbs were all free sculpted.  Just a trial, so I didn't put in all the details.  I will for the real one.  Who knows, Muff, there may be twins before it's all said and done.

  1. Your step-granddaughter is just too adorable! Three and 4 (for me) were such precious ages for my daughter. She looks just as precious.

You are so good at everything -- now dog grooming and mini baby sculpting. You never cease to amaze me.

Forgot to mention this: My mother said, "You have some talented friends" (after receiving her pen.) Yes, I do (I thought) and Vanessa is at the top of the list!

I am way behind on fellow-blog reading. Hopefully I will catch up over the long weekend.

    1. DBG - She should have been named Smiley. She is always smiling, which is a very good thing. I groomed my last dog, but it was all scissor work. Now I have to work with the clippers, which is much different. Lucky for me, Bruce just sits still. He makes it easy.

Speaking of pen, I picked up the case today.
Tell your mom I said hello.

  2. I always scroll the pics first. Since there was a real girl in the first one I though that table of food was real!! OMG! She's a cutie btw and I can't wait to see Bruce's haircut if you decided to do it.

    1. Kenya - I like throwing a curve ball here and there. That is Bruce's haircut. LOL! I told you it was hard to tell in the picture. I didn't cut the hair around his nose. According to my dog grooming DVD, that hair should be longer than it is. So we're growing it out, and then it will get trimmed. I should have taken before and after pictures. He really does look like a little panda bear when his hair grows. It grows so quickly.

  7. Your stepgrandaughter is becoming a beautiful big girl! She looks great in those sandals! And I see why she still misses Bruce. Kendra's baby is going to look perfect, I couldn't have imagined that you were going to sculpt him!!! You keep me open-mouthed again and again with your skills.

    1. Rossetti - I want her sandals. I felt guilty when I saw that picture of her and the dog, but me getting Bruce was best for everyone. I tried to get the artist who made my other polymer babies to make an AA one. She tried, but couldn't get the color or features right. So my only other recourse was to make it myself.

  8. Your stepgrandaughter is a living doll! That Bruce is such a cutie! Great job on his haircut. Baby sculpting? Vanessa, what don't you do? Lol! The baby looks great. I can't tell that his little face is smashed. I see that he is anatomically correct.

    1. Georgia Girl - She truly is a little doll. I wish she lived closer. I wished they all lived closer. Baby sculpting has been on the list for a while now. It wasn't top on the list and not a must do, but I couldn't find any to buy that suited my purpose.

    1. AG Lanc - Thanks. I hope to get the first part of the baby shower posted this weekend. I'm excited to finally get this baby started. That's part of the reason Kendra is still pregnant. Her baby wasn't ready yet. LOL!

  11. I also thought that was real food for your grandbaby! You are an expert at food and sculpting babies too!

And I said she was having triplets. You have to make another one, lol!

    1. Muff - Yes, I guess putting the table of food with balloons was a little misleading. Definitely not intentional. I took a picture of the ladies sitting at the shower, but decided not to show it. Mrs. Langford was sitting there naked. Not a good look.

I know you said triplets. I'm pretending I didn't. LOL!

  12. Many happy returns to your grand daughter and to Bruce! I'm amazed at your skill in sculpting Kenya's baby. The little accident to his face just makes him look more like a newborn. Look out Morristown, there could be a veritable population explosion now that you have this baby-making skill! :-)

    1. limbe dolls - Thanks. I've been collecting pictures of newborns for over 8 years with the intent to sculpt bigger babies. I finally threw out the pictures a few months ago deciding I just didn't have time. I changed my mind. I may never get to the bigger babies, but I hope to do enough of these little ones to get decent at it.

  13. Wow! Your stepgrand baby is adorable! All the food looks fantastic! I just finished a chocolate sweets display. This food clay making is so addictive! I tried the babies, still working on those lol. So far mine are looking a little freakish lol. Still in the works!

  14. Chynadoll - Luckily she is as sweet as she looks. LOL about your new addiction. I was never addicted to the food making. I did feel addictive with the book making. If I make all the books I have planned right now, I'll have well over a hundred. Being the artist that you are, I'm sure you will figure out those babies in no time.

  15. Happy belated birthdays to your stepgrandaughter and to Bruce too (really, he's 8, he doesn't look it). (I'm catching up on my blog reading too.) You'll have to take a picture of Bruce with his hair grown, I'd love to see him looking like a panda.
And I must admit I thought your newborn looked really newborn with the face like that so maybe he should feature on the blog sometime soon.

    1. Carrickters - Bruce doesn't act 8 either. He's such a playful little thing. Next time I will get the panda shot. His hair grows so fast. That's why I had to learn to cut it myself. At $45 per grooming session, I would be broke.
