Dr. Burke Checks On The New Crib

Last night I went to a woodworking meeting.  I hadn't been  to one since December.  I kind of felt guilty that I haven't really done much.  At every meeting there is "Show and Tell"  and I've only participated once.  Last night we were each asked to bring six scroll sawed items to next month's nightly meeting.  Today I got started.  I know if I wait to do them, they won't get done.  I decided Morristown needed a carpenter to help me with these projects.  Keith, Vanessa's husband won the job.

Keith has just put the finishing touches on the Burkes handmade crib.   He's expecting Dr. Burke any minute now.  He's stopping by to approve the crib and select they type finish they would like.

Keith gives it one more look.  He still has some sanding to do.  He can hear the shop door opening and in walks Dr. Burke.

"Wow, man.  I'm impressed.  Kendra is going to love it."  (Dr. Burke)
"I'm glad to hear that."  (Keith)

Keith proceeds to point out some of the fine details.

"Mind if I put it on the floor so I can gauge the height?"  (Dr. Burke)
"Please do.  That way you can test out the rocker, too."  (Keith)

"It's perfect.  We will be able to use this for our future babies, too."  (Dr. Burke)

"As for the finish, Kendra said surprise her."  (Dr. Burke)
"Really?"   (Keith)

"Yes. She said she trust you and knows that you will make it look nice."  (Dr. Burke)

"I can't thank you enough.  When do you think I will be able to pick it up?"  (Dr. Burke)
"I should have it ready within two weeks.  I'll give you a call and let you know."  (Keith)

    1. Christie - Keith says he has no idea what a Carrie Bradshaw cabinet is. He check the internet and couldn't find one.

    2. Sorry for Christie's comment Vanessa, my dolls don't understand that they can't steal my internet.

Christie wants a big cabinet where to keep her actual clothes and other clothes she will choose from a lot I bought one week ago. In Sex&The City tv show, Carrie Bradshaw had one of the most huge cabinet ever seen, that's why "Carrie Bradshaw cabinet". Christie is a fan of the show.

    3. Sergio - LOL! Christie is taking over. You better keep an eye on her. Her request threw me off because she said cabinet. We refer to that as a closet. I wasn't sure if there was something new that I wasn't aware of. I am also a big fan of Sex and the City. When Keith gets a free moment, I'll have him try a few closets.

  4. Beautiful crib and I'm sure Kendra will love it. But it's always worrying when a client says, "Do whatever you think best - I trust you." I hope Keith has some ideas of the rest of Kendra's decorating plans.

    1. Carrickters - Thanks. Yes, it's a little nerve wrecking when a client leaves it all up to the craftsman. In this case, this little crib was made specifically to go next to their bed at nighttime. It's replacing the bassinet. So the finish isn't really critical.

  5. The crib is beautiful. Love the hearts in the scroll work! You're good, girl; you're good!

One down and five more to go -- I look forward to seeing the others.

    1. V. - Thanks! This cradle is going next to the bed at nighttime in the place of a bassinet. The baby has a regular sized crib for his/her nursery.

  7. Oh wow... that's just lovely work.

I'm always in awe of you miniaturist wood workers... I have no ability to do that kind of stuff.

I can't wait to see the finished product!

Christie: Hmm... maybe I should have a baby...

ACK! NO! ... thank goodness there are no men around here...

  8. Nice crib! And the detailing is awesome. Did you use a scroll saw for those designs? That's what I use to make all my doll furniture. :-)

  11. Go on, Keith (aka Vanessa, lol)! Great looking crib. I would love to see your doll closet.

BTW, is Keith a Dominic doll or a Integrity Jordan? He resembles an Integrity doll I have.

    1. D7ana - Thanks. Keith is an Integrity Jordan, but I gave him facial hair many years ago. He looked a little too feminine for what I was trying to achieve.

    1. Grandmommy - Thanks. It will be a OOAK in Morristown, but there's a chance Keith may make some to sell out of Morristown.
