Okay, But Just A Little Peek

Happy Valentine's Day!  I am posting early because for the first time in a long time, I have a valentine, and I don't want to get caught up in dolly world, today.  I have been known to do that from time to time.  So the couples in Morristown are on their own today.  Just know there is a lot of loving going on with them today.  Some of the couples are pretty tired from the move, so they may not be celebrating.  Me? I'm celebrating!  I thought I would give you a little peek into the basement.

When I had my porcelain doll business, I spent countless hours in the basement, and I was oh so happy.  That feeling has returned!  Just pure joy being back down there.  The basement is probably 2 - 2.5 times larger than my family room, so I have plenty of space to play.

Here is one wall that has both the large bookcases that took up two walls in my family room.  I was also able to put up the new cardboard house I bought at Tuesday Mornings.  On the far end you can see the two Victorian houses.  On the opposite wall is where all the family houses are; both the Taylors, the Andersons, Racquel and Terrance, and the A-Frame house.  In the center of the room will be 2 - 3 tables.  One will have the expanded grocery store.  One may have a park, but I'm not sure yet.

Kara got her salon back.  I'm taking pictures with my crappy camera, today.  Can't you tell?

The Andersons got their home back, and their courtyard.

Monica will finally get her pet grooming boutique.

Lisa and Charles are getting their bedroom, nursery, and bathroom back.

Everything is still in placeholder mode.

This wasn't their original bathroom.  I may put their original bathroom back in place as soon as I find the container with all the bathroom pieces.  It has a tub, which comes in handy when you have kids.  This master suite will be used for quite a few families.  I will just swap out furniture and accessories for each family.  For the families that don't need a nursery, I think that space will make a nice walk-in closet or office.

I will leave you with an old video.  Chances are you have seen it, but it shows the old bedroom suite. It's titled, From Mommy to Minx.  There's lingerie and wine, which makes it's a good one for Valentine's day.

Happy Valentine's Day!

  1. Wish I had a nice basement like yours. Mine is more like the cellar in Silence of the Lambs! Its a over a hundred years and it would not surprise me if a body turned up there.

    1. pattidolls - Oh no, I just got a visual of the body in the basement. I'd rather find the body and not Anthony Hopkins in my basement.

  3. Everything seems to be coming along in the basement. With that much work space, I know being in an organized area brings you joy. Thanks for sharing a peek of the progress.

I am happy for you that you have a breathing valentine who seems to be very supportive. It's a wonderful blessing to have someone like that in your life.

    Have fun.

(We celebrated a day early by exchanging gifts, proof that you don't have to wait for a designated day to share and show love.)

    1. DBG - Seeing all of my porcelain babies, who are still in the basement, adds to my joy. Dolls, dolls, everywhere. How can I not be joyful!

I think that's wonderful that you and your husband celebrated early. I'm looking forward to slowing down and enjoying some valentine time.

  12. Can't wait to see the finished product! It would be fun to set up that NICE park you displayed a little while ago. I LOVE the Anderson's grill what set did it come from?

    1. AG Lane - I can't wait either! I have plans to build a park. That grill used to be red. I painted it silver. It came with a Barbie picnic set a few years ago. I'm drawing a blank on the name of the set. If I remember, I will let you know.

    2. AG Lanc - I figured out which set the grill came from. It was in the "Barbie My House Barbeque Set" from 2008.

    1. April W. - Having this space will make Morristown so much better. Initially the groomer place was going to be a pet store. I've been going back and forth. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful, dolly-free, Valentine's Day. Hope you had a nice one, too.

  14. Thanks for sharing Vanessa! My you have done a lot. It looks great and well organized. I wish I had a space like this that is away from everything else. I am trying my best to keep dolls in teo rooms, but it is so hard.

    I hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day! ; )

    1. Georgia Girl - I've gotten a lot done, and still have a ways to go. The good thing is my basement is off the garage, so there's access without going into the house.

  15. Great space Vanessa, and it's coming along nicely! Why am I seeing the floor made into a street? I guess I'm letting my imagination run wild, LOL.

Hope you had a great Valentine's Day!!

    1. Tracy - I get so excited every time I go down there. I keep thinking up new things to do. A street? Hmmm. That might be something to consider. Thanks for the idea. I painted a rug on part of the floor years ago, so maybe I will paint over it. V-day was wonderful!

  16. Most of my students were planning to spend yesterday evening in the lab or studying for tests. I told them this was a bad pattern to establish. Then I came home and spent the evening reading... I am glad that you have a real live Valentine to celebrate with. I hope you two had a very special evening.

Your basement is also an inspiration. I bought some new shelves a few weeks ago but haven't set them up yet. I need to get on it!

Did you do the shelves yet? Just asking.
