Free Shipping at MattelShop.com and a Crib Preview

I was not going to be an enabler today until I saw the picture below.  Which fits in with the baby/nursery theme I will be doing later today or possibly tomorrow.  MattelShop.com has free shipping on all Barbie orders.  They have a couple new things out, but nothing overly exciting.

This is the doctor and babies from the newest Dr. Barbie playset.  Just the other week, I was saying how I wished they had an AA set like this because I could use another AA baby.  Low and behold, one of the babies is AA!  I didn't know.  The babies are really cute.  I think the doctor has articulated arms, even though the hands are in a crazy position.  The position of these hands are good if you make a pregnant woman.  You know how pregnant women sometimes hold the bottom of their bellys?  These hands are in a good position for that.  OMGoodness.  Doesn't that baby look like Julian and Danielle?  Darn!

Here is the complete set.  I really only need the babies.  Tsk.  Tsk.  I may have to go for it.  It's currently backordered and shipping in 2-4 weeks.

I'm pointing out this set because it's a different sculpt for the AA Chelsea sized doll.  I love that she has articulated legs, but they need to never make these colored legs again.  What a waste of articulation!  It they are like the other colored legs, they don't open at all side to side and it makes them difficult to play with.  Of course, you could swap her body out.

This is a new Chelsea slumber party set.  I love the juice boxes.  Have you seen the new bathing suit Chelsea dolls?  I saw them yesterday at Walmart.  The outfits and accessories are super cute.  They have some new face sculpts, too.  No Tamika in the line up.  Hmmm.

Just pointing out a few playsets I've used recently.  I used this sink at the wedding recently when I made the church bathroom with stalls.   In case you didn't notice, one of the items on the floor is a foot soaker.  If you don't like the color of the toilet, just paint it white.  I think that's what I did.

I don't have this set, but I wanted to show it since both dolls have articulated legs.

So here is the new crib.  It fits from infants to Kelly sized dolls.  Bumper is removable to make room for older babies.  This will be available in the Etsy store later today.

  1. The crib is beautiful! I really like the fact that Mattel gave the Pediatrician an AA baby along with the Caucasian baby...that's pretty smart.

It's nice to see them coming out with more playsets. I saw the AA Chelsea playset in the store, she's beautiful. The sculpt looked the same to me, she's just darker complected, but I can't be certain.

There's another AA playset with Chelsea and Nikki...I think it's a pizza cooking one. That one, Chelsea's legs aren't articulated but they're also not the plastic pink "stocking" legs. Still, it's variety and that's always good. :)

    1. Tracy - Thanks. I meant to say different than the SIS dolls. It's probably the same sculpt but the makeup makes her look different. I have seen the other playset. It's on MattelShop.com, too. I considered it a couple of months ago, when I saw it in the store, because it would be nice to have the little girl, but she too has the plastic legs. They are just light blue. At the time I didn't know if I had a darker body that would work for her. Turns out I do. I'm hoping at SOME POINT, Mattel will produce these as single dolls, just like they are doing with the Chelsea dolls. Not holding my breath, though.

  2. Too bad that mattel.com doesn't deliver in Europe :( These playset are really cute, my Skipper is from that tandem set! She can't stand alone because her articulations are only to allow the spinning movement on the bike, but if you wear a pair of her trousers, she will stand alone

  4. Since you have gotten to good with the body painting, couldn't you paint over those pink legs?

    1. Grandmommy - All the pink and blue legs I've seen or had, only have forward and backward motion. No side motion at all. It's not the color that bothers me, because I treat them like they are tights. It's the movement and painting won't help that.

  5. Hello from Spain: I have the Barbie pediatrician with two babies. I recommend you buy it. The pack comes with the furniture. They are interesting furniture. Also I have the bike with the sisters. Their bodies are articulated but can not be put in place because they bend the knees ... Only you can use on bike or always sitting ... There is not a good buy ... keep in touch

    1. Marta - Thanks for the info. I will more than likely buy the pediatrician, but as you can see, I don't need any more baby furniture. I have so much of it already. Thanks for the info about the articulated sisters. Have you tried sticking a piece of paper or something behind their knees? This usually makes them more stable and able to stand. I had to do this with my Janet doll.

  6. There cute, but thankfully not too cute that I'll freak out and get them! I'm attempting(the key word) to only buy things on my list. Let's see how long that lasts!

    1. Verona - Way to stick to your list. I've been pretty good at sticking to the list. If I want a new item, I quickly add it to the list and voila...I've talked myself into buying something new. But I've really, really, been very good lately.

    1. Jessika - Wow, I can't believe the leg fell off. They must not be making the sets like they used to. I've had sets for about 10 years that haven't fallen apart. Thanks for thinking of me, but don't worry. If it's meant for me to have this set, I will.

  8. Crib looks great! Just what the new baby needs.

Thanks for the heads up on the new baby set. I need to got through my stuff to see if I will need baby stuff. Have plenty of toddler stuff, but not so sure about the baby stuff.

Uh oh ... the new baby might stimulate a storyline where Danielle gets pregnant? Naw, you wouldn't do that ... I mean they - Rod and Danielle - yet. Would they?

    1. D7ana - Thanks. Baby stuff always comes in handy, as you will see in my next story. That baby is super cute. I can see Julian carrying her around and being a good big brother, but it's completely up to Rod and Danielle.

    1. Chynadoll - Thanks. It will be hitting the store by Saturday so you can take a look. You wouldn't believe how many emails I get asking about Danielle having a baby. They are even sending me names on the regular. Talk about pressure!

    1. Roville - Yes, I love baby and toddler stuff. The Happy Family sets were the best. I really miss them. I'm hoping that crib is long gone before Danielle even thinks about getting pregnant. But I'll make her something if she needs it.
