Off to the Bakery with the Kids (Photostory)

Last we saw Tony, he was headed to pick up the kids so they could drop by the bakery and surprise his wife.

He has already picked up Kenaz and Zahara.  He's now picking up Nikaya.

"Hi Daddy!"  (Nikaya)
"Hey, baby girl.  Hurry up and get in.  It's chilly out there."  (Tony)
"It was so hot yesterday.  How can it be cold, today?"  (Nikaya)
"This weather is just crazy."  (Tony)

"Ughhh.  I can never get this seatbelt to act right.  I think it hates me."  (Nikaya)
"Here, let me help."  (Tony)
"There it goes.  I got it."  (Nikaya)

"Daddy, can we stop by Micky D's?  I'm starving."  (Nikaya)
"Yea Daddy, can we go?  I'm hungry, too."  (Zahara)
"We are going to your mom's bakery.  She will probably have snacks for you."  (Tony)
"Did you tell her we were coming?"  (Nikaya)
"No, I thought we would surprise her."  (Tony)
"Well if it's a surprise, she probably won't have any snacks for us."  (Nikaya)
"You may be right, but if I know your mother, there will be something there for you to eat until we get home and have dinner.  Now close the door so we can get going."  (Tony)

Tony heads to the bakery.  Nikaya has hijacked the radio and turned it to her favorite radio station.  She and Zahara are singing their little hearts out.  They come to a stop as they approach a red light.

"Man oh man."  (Tony)
"What, Daddy?  Why did you say that?"  (Nikaya)
"Just admiring that car in front of us."  (Tony)
"What kind of car is it?"  (Nikaya)
"It's a 911 turbo Porsche."  (Tony)
"Maybe you should get one."  (Zahara)
"If I didn't have three kids, I might be able to do that.  But as your mother would say, 'Honey it's just not a practical car.'"  (Tony)
The kids start laughing as Tony imitates his wife's voice.
"You sound just like mommy."  (Nikaya)
The light turns green and the car in front of them starts to move.

What a sweet ride!

Definitely a woman driving it.  Let's take a closer look.

Doors, hood and trunk open.

Taking a look inside and we can see it's Halle!  She recently did some modeling for this company and she fell in love with the car.  Her budget didn't allow for her to buy it outright, but they gave her an awesome deal on a lease.  As with real Porches, it's a tight fit on the inside, but she still loves it.  It's probably better suited for a shorter doll.

I promised a comparison shot.  It was pretty cold out today, so I only brought out one of my older model Barbie vehicles.  The Barbie PT Cruiser that came out three or four years ago is one of my favorite Barbie vehicles.  First of all, it isn't pink.  It has some really nice details and is one of the more realistic looking Barbie vehicles.  As you can see, compared to the New Bright vehicles, it is very small.  The green New Bright PT Cruiser I showed last week, sizewise is between the Hummer and the Porsche.  So it's at least twice the size of the Barbie vehicle.

It almost looks like a clown car, it's so small.  I'm borrowing this Porsche from my friend.  I will be visiting her again tomorrow, so I will probably be bringing another vehicle home.  I'm still waiting to run across the pickup truck.  I did run across an Avalanche truck, a police wagon, and a safari truck.  There's also a firetruck that is waiting to be found.  Stay tuned.  Next, we will be back at the bakery to see how Antoinette's day has been.

  1. I love these vehicles so much! I really want the pickup truck for my horse ranch, but it's not in the budget or space restrictions right now. I'll have to live vicariously through your photos!

    1. Erin -I'm living vicariously through my friend. There is no way I would be able to own all of these vehicles. I've always wanted a real pick up truck, so having a doll version would be awesome.

  3. I like the New Bright cars. They are very nice and they look like a better size than the Mattel cars.

    1. Jaye - In all honesty, there isn't more room inside the vehicle than the Mattel cars. The New Bright cars aren't built for fashion dolls, like the Mattel cars are, so sometimes the leg room is not quite big enough. The seats in the Mattel cars usually sit a little lower, than the NB cars, which is why it's easier to see the faces and tops of the heads of the dolls through the Mattel window. The NB cars definitely look better on the outside.

    1. Georgia Girl - My dolls are on that all important leasing program, except for Tony and Antoinette. So far they are the only family who owns their vehicle. I agree, they are super spoiled!

  6. I love that Porsche! But alas, finances and space won't allow for such nice vehicles in Moreville. :-(

    1. Cindi - That Porsche is everything! Out of the 3 New Bright vehicles currently in my possession, it is the one with the least room inside. Halle didn't mind. She was willing to squeeze in.

  7. OMG! Hallie is the best person to be seen in that car. I think it goes with her attitude, lol. Those vehicles are so freaking awesome.

  10. Where did you get the hummer from? And what size and where did your friend get the Porsche? I'm thinking its 1/4 size. I found a truck shell 1/6 but they want $100 not in my budget. I think I might try a Hobby shop and maybe have hubby make one from a kit. Might be cheaper. toodles debs

    1. D C - The Hummer, the Porsche, and the New Bright PT Cruiser I showed a couple weeks ago, are all 1/6 scale. My friend bought all of her New Bright cars over 10 years ago, when the company was producing them regularly. The company doesn't seem to produce the 1/6 scale vehicles where the doors open, anymore. I found the Hummer on Ebay. There are two different 1/6 versions. One where the doors open and one where the doors do not open. The Hummers show up on Ebay more often than any of the others. I think the secondary market and the occasional thrift store is where you are most likely to find the New Bright cars. Just make sure they show open doors in the pictures. Keep in mind, all of the New Bright ones I've shown are remote controlled cars.

Thanks for clearing up the Mini Coop. I knew that, but had a minor brain fart.

  11. PS...the red car is a Mini Cooper not a PT Cruiser.

  12. That's the only Barbie car that I own! I bought because I found a bargain and I like it because it's quite realistic for a Barbie product. However, I think it's funny that Barbie dolls don't fit properly on Barbie cars, the backseat of that particular one seems to be pretty useless.

    1. monstercrafts - If you think about it, the backseat of a real Mini Cooper is useless, too. So it's very realistic in that regard.

  13. OMG!!! The only reason why you haven't succeeded in turning my thinking around about owning one of these AMAZING vehicles, is because I simply don't have space. And...I have 100 dolls, all bachelorettes/bachelors....they'd all be fighting over the keys!!! I was in total awe of the Hummer. But when I saw the Porsche (more my taste), my mouth dropped open and I've been drooling ever since. The only other thing I've seen that has tempted me was the Vespa motor scooter that Billa had on her blog a few years back! Was extremely tempted!!!

    1. april - I didn't even know my friend had the Porsche, so imagine the sounds I made when I ran across it. I wish it had a little more head room, but it sure looks great. Of course the problem is once you get one, you want more. Being able to "lease" (borrow) them, is the best of both worlds.

  15. Hi! I've been looking everywhere for the dolls that Nikaya and Nicole are. I have one myself but I got her at a thrift store, and never knew the official name. They have hard vinyl heads and soft bodies. Could you please let me know what they are called? That would be so wonderful.

    Thanks!

    1. xAyura - Nikaya is an old version of the Mattel Stacy doll. Her name is Janet. There are quite a few different versions of her. Nicole is the one with the soft body and the hard head. She is an "Only Hearts" doll. They used to be sold in Target stores. They were also sold on the "Only Hearts Club" doll website. That company has since gone out of business. These dolls were also sold in Tuesday Morning stores for many years. I haven't seen them there in quite some time. Probably the best place to get them now is via ebay.
