New Families and Gifts

Hope everyone is having a fabulous holiday season so far.  I've been crazy busy.  Remember the deck I had built?  Well, I've finally gotten around to staining it.  I started yesterday and hope to finish by tomorrow.  I've also been doing a little shopping.  One for them....one for me.  So I'm sharing a few new family members and a beautiful gift set I received from Cindi of Moreville.

This is new family #1.  You met Mr. Fireman a few months ago.  I've been admiring him on a few other blogs recently and decided he needed more presence here in Morristown.  So I bought him a new woman this week.  She is the 2015 Holiday Barbie.  I found her on sale for $12.  They took ownership of the little girl in the Eye Doctor set I just got.  Names will be coming soon.  She will also assume the role of teacher for the new classroom.

New family #2.  When I took this picture, I was going to make Chandra (not her name here) a single mom with two little ones,  whose younger sister had moved in to help.  Now I remember I have the perfect guy for her.  So she will be married with three kids.  More on that later.

New family #3 Hip Hop Hoodie doesn't look so hip in this picture, but he is sooooo handsome in person.  Go on Mattel!  I decided to make these two, older sister and younger brother.  That could change in the future.  By the way, all the little young girls and a few of the older ones have been eyeing this guy already.  I sense trouble brewing.

Now on to my beautiful gifts!  Cindi blessed me with three of her crocheted creations.  I've always been impressed with how quickly she learned how to crochet and actually make fitting garments for her dolls.

First up is this gorgeous sparkly blue turtleneck sweater.  Kara snatched it before the others could grab it.

Next up is a two-piece dress and jacket ensemble which fits to a tee! The colors were perfect for this lovely lady.

Here is the jacket.  This photo doesn't do it justice.  It's so well made and it is very delicate looking.   Thanks so much Cindi!!!!  We love them.

  1. Thanks for sharing, great pics. I just received 3 Hip Hoodies this week, 2 were gifts to my doll collecting sisters and I kept one but I think I'll order another one. He looks better IRL than in picture! Kudos to Mattel for producing a great looking doll.

    1. Ollie's Dollies - Congrats on getting him. Yes, he doesn't photograph as well as he looks. It might just be that stiff body. He will be getting a new body soon.

  3. I can't wait to learn more about the new families. 'Chandra's' daughter looks so much like her. :-)

Cindi has been pumping out some lovely fashions. They look so good on your ladies.

    1. Jaye - I really wish those petite bodies were articulated. I love her size, but she needs some movement. Even click bend knees would have worked.

  4. Congratulation on the new dolls and the "couture fashions". That holiday Barbie looks like a Candance and "Chandra" sister looks like a Whitney to me, lol, just saying.

  6. You have created some beautiful families. I think my favorite is new family #2 followed by Hip Hoodie and big sis.

It was very nice of Cindi to send the crocheted pieces, which all look quite nice. Congrats!

  7. Great post! Congrats on the clothes! They really look well made. Glad to see your new families. I have my petite and Chandra dolls together as a family too but I didn't think to add Courtney to the mix! The fact that neither have a toothy smile, makes them a good fit. Just got my dolls ordered during free shipping! Thanks! I had an AA TX cheerleader waiting for my Hip Hoodie. I had heard from others that it was a close match. Maybe my eyes are going but it looks like a spot on match to me! He is a cutie and I have just the mother for him. I noticed the lines on in what I guess is the finish on his body like on my tall dolls.(voids were there is no shine) I seem to be common with the 16/17 Fashionistas. QC? What QC? I guess as long as they keep making great headsculps we will keep buying them!

    1. Ms. Leo - Thanks. Congrats on getting your HH Hoodie doll. I was messing around in the basement yesterday, looking for a body. Then I thought about the articulated Dwayne doll from the Kendra series. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm hoping that will work. It's a slightly shorter body and I want HH Hoodie to stay a teenager.

    1. april - I guess I miscommunicated. Chandra has been married for a long time. I just didn't know that when I took the first picture. I bought him a couple years ago, and he's still in his box. I will be freeing him soon.

  14. Hey Vanessa, Merry Christmas!
I don't remember if I've ever commented here before, but I've read your blog on and off for years now. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you about the miniature food erasers at Target. It seems like the online doll community keeps each other informed of doll/miniature stuff, so I thought I'd share in case you or anyone else were interested. I wrote about them and have pictures on my blog - https://inadolldaze.blogspot.com/2016/12/target-dollar-spot-minis.html

    1. T - Hello and Merry Christmas! Thanks for stopping by and sharing the info about the erasers. Yes the doll community is famous for encouraging others to buy more dolly stuff. I'm guilty of that as well. I will definitely check out your blog.

  15. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Your new families look happy to be in Morristown and I am sure will be assets to the town and add lots of interesting stories.
The jumpers and dress look lovely but a little hot for our weather. (Sorry, we've been having a heatwave - I think Cindi should be crocheting bikinis.)
