"It's Go Time" (Photostory)

Things went pretty quickly once Danielle got to the hospital.  The contractions were coming so close together, the doctor suggested taking her straight to the birthing room.

Rod is doing all he can to keep Danielle calm.  The pain is intense.  Danielle opted not to take the epidural shot.  She is quickly rethinking that decision.

"Oh god.  I forgot what this pain was like.  I don't know that I can do this without drugs."  (Danielle)
"Remember what you said...."don't let me take the shot, even if I ask for it."  (Rod)

"Really?  You're going to throw that in my face, now?  Clearly, I wasn't thinking straight then."  (Danielle)
"Just squeeze my hand when you feel a contraction."  (Rod)
"Is that all you have to offer?  That's not going to take away this pain!"  (Danielle)

"Where are they?!  Helloooo?  I'm in pain in here."  (Danielle)

Just then the nurse comes into the room.
"So how are we doing, Mrs. Taylor?"  (Nurse)
"Peachy keen.  Can't you tell?"  (Danielle)

Dr. Butler arrives just in time.
"Hello, Mrs. Taylor.  It's a beautiful day to bring a baby into the world."  (Dr. Butler)

"Yeah, yeah.  I'm not feeling so beautiful right now.  Can we move this birth along?"  (Danielle)

"I'm only here to facilitate.  Moving this birth along will depend on your little one.  Let me take a look to see how things are progressing?"  (Dr. Butler)

"Okay.  It looks like you are fully dilated."  (Dr. Butler)

"So that means it's go time.  Are you ready to meet your little girl?"  (Dr. Butler)
"You just don't know.  I'm more than ready."  (Danielle)

"Hang in there, honey.  It will be over soon."  (Rod)
"Please stop talking.  That's really not helping right now.  Oh and Doc, I don't want this taped."  (Danielle)
"Are you sure, honey?"  (Rod)
"Positive."  (Danielle)
"Kill the video nurse."  (Dr. Butler)

The nurse reaches up to turn off the video camera.  Dr. Butler proceeds to talk Danielle through the birth.  After lots of screaming, some tears, countless deep breaths, and the right amount of pushing....

their baby girl enters the world.
"Great job, Mrs. Taylor.  You have a beautiful daughter."  (Dr. Butler)

The doctor and the nurse clean the baby and check her vital signs while Rod looks on in amazement.
"She's beautiful."  (Rod)
"Yes, she is Mr. Taylor."  (Nurse)

"Nurse, I will leave her in your capable hands, while I check out her mommy."  (Dr. Butler)

The nurse checks her weight.
"6lbs 2oz"  (Nurse)

"Is that good?"  (Rod)
"That's a great weight."  (Nurse)

"Great job.  Your little girl is perfect.  How are you feeling?"  (Dr. Butler)
"A whole lot better now."  (Danielle)
"I'm just going to check your vitals real quick."  (Dr. Butler)

"Here you go, Daddy.  You got her?"  (Nurse)
"Yes."  (Rod)

"Hello, princess."  (Rod)
"How is she?  Bring her over here."  (Danielle)

"Are you ready to meet our daughter?"  (Rod)
"Yes, I am!"  (Danielle)

"Oh, she's so tiny.  I forgot how small they are at first.  Hello, precious girl.  So glad you finally came to see us."  (Danielle)
"She's so beautiful."  (Rod)

Rod bends down to give her a kiss on the forehead.

"Just like her mother."  (Rod)

"Congratulations, you two.  She's beautiful.  The nurse is going to get you settled into a room.  I will come back to check on you a little later."  (Dr. Butler)
"Thanks so much, doc."  (Rod)
"My pleasure."  (Dr. Butler)

So the newest addition to Morristown has arrived safe and sound.  I'm sure I will get the question, "did I make the baby?"  The answer is no.  I bought a baby and customized it for this couple.  One day when I have the time, I hope to get back to sculpting.  Below is a picture of what this baby looked like before I made the changes.

    1. Ladonna - When I read the word Epi, I thought you meant epidural. Lol. Thanks. Would you believe they didn't pick a name yet? They were waiting for her to come before they picked a name.

  5. Babies are always a reason to celebrate! I remember with my first daughter, I went into sort of a "false labor" and had to go back home from the hospital. The doctor told Mr. BTEG it would be time to come back when I started talking about pain medication. :)

    1. Barb - I heard of people being sent home for false labors. That would be irritating. Getting all excited and then being sent home.

  6. Congratulations to Rod and Danielle and the rest of the family!

Danielle had me cracking up. She was just not a happy camper. And then not having the birth taped. What's the baby's name? I'm guessing the next episode is around that?

    1. Janainah - Thanks. I would have opted for the epidural myself. She's a brave woman. Danielle wanted to see the baby before she chose a name. Hopefully they won't take too long naming her.

  7. That little baby is beautiful. I'd love to see a photo of her (like the one you did pre-customizing) of how she is now you have altered her. She is lovely!

  9. Awww, the baby is so cute! Danielle was very funny during labor and delivery! Good idea not to film it, LOL! I had a small bladder procedure late August and my eldest daughter was with me. SHE took video on her phone of me coming out of anesthesia. Ummm, I can't believe how stupid I look and sound! Good call, Danielle!

    1. Phyllis - I was glad she didn't want it filmed. I've filmed one dolly birth and that was enough for me. Oh my! I can only imagine your anesthesia experience. When I had my bone marrow biopsy, the doctor's were telling me things I was saying. I would have loved to have seen it on tape, because I couldn't believe it.

  10. Congrats to this wonderful couple. She is beautiful. Can't wait to hear her name and for her to meet her 3 siblings. Will you be having a late shower for her and a baptism?

    1. Rebekah - Thanks. Grandma will be sneaking the boys into the hospital soon to meet their little sister soon. Maybe a "meet the baby" shower. There will be a christening. That's one reason I wanted the church built before her arrival.

  11. Aww, this was such a sweet photo story!! The baby is adorable!! Looking forward to hearing what the little princess will be called.

P.S. I remember your dolls. They were awesome! I was wondering why you stopped making them.

    1. Georgia Girl - Thanks! I wanted them to have a different baby than the normal Mattel baby, but it was difficult finding what I wanted.

If you are referring to my porcelain dolls, I stopped because porcelain dolls were losing their appeal after the reborn babies came about. People were trying to get me to do reborns, but I just never got interested. I have several people wanting to buy porcelain dolls, so I will reluctantly be doing a few more. I have sculpted a few dolls out of clay, and that's what I really want to get back to doing. It's impossible to find babies of color in the Barbie size. I would love to fill that niche.

  13. That was a nice story and a trip down memory lane for me- reminded me so much of my last L&D experience. Congrats to the family. I look forward to finding out which name they choose.

    1. Jewell - Thanks. It took me a minute (a few days, in fact) to figure out what L&D meant. I was thinking it was referring to a couple of dolls. I think as of a few minutes ago, they have a top contender for the name.

    3. AG Lanc - Thanks. I think the boys will be excited. I hope Nicole will be, too. Might be difficult to think of daddy having a new lady in his life. It's one thing to know she's coming, once she gets her is a different story.

  19. I was hoping someone else would ask but...wherever did you get the beautiful baby? She is sooo life like.
On another note, I live for your posts. I drop everything (I think I've actually dropped a grandbaby or two) to read them.

  20. Nefertiti - Awww that is so sweet. I will think of you the next time I post, which will be soon.

I got the original baby from ebay. Here is a link to the site. If this baby was articulated, it would be perfect. Sadly, it's not, which means at some point they will get a new baby.
