Busy, Busy, Busy

I thought it was time for a little house update.  I haven't had time to do much because I've been filling Dasia clothing orders.  Danielle and Rod have been able to get a few things done that will allow them to completely move in, soon.

Last we saw the boys they were in the new playroom.  Danielle decided to take a little time to relax in a nice bubble bath.  She probably would have taken a shower if she had remembered she needed a new shower curtain.  She had Rod install the new mirror frame to make sure she liked it in the space. She does, so now he can buy the mirror inset.

They put a shelf in here to act as the linen cabinet.  All the bathroom stuff is still packed in boxes.

Rod is downstairs in the kitchen admiring the paint job on the cabinets and the door handles on the fridge and the stove.  Now all he has left to paint are the stove knobs and the center cabinet, which will be a more tedious job.  After that he will install the backsplash that Danielle is still deciding on.

Danielle had him take out the mobile island.  She's opted for a kitchen table.  She was a little worried about Jacob safely sitting at the island.  There were only two seats, too.  The thought of walking upstairs to the dining room for every meal was a little daunting.

She will probably leave the floor and the walls the way they are for now.  She has to put her energy to finishing the boys bedroom, the living areas, and the dining room.

Speaking of the boys room....She settled for a smaller red and white striped wallpaper.  She's not finished with the bottom yet.  There will probably be a window in this room.  They painted Jacob's bed racing car yellow and found the coolest wheels for his bed.

The wheels are a Dollar Tree find.  It's a yo-yo!  Remember those.  Hours of endless fun.

I also found these cool car stickers at the Dollar Tree.  The yellow car was the inspiration for Jacob's bed.  I will be painting the number 6 on Julian's bed and the number 3 on Jacob's bed.

That ends the house update pictures.  I did start making the sectional for the living room.  I also designed a wingback chair for the center room.

I found this set at Target.  It's for the 18" dolls, but it's really not to scale.  I bought it for the little drum.  It's more 1/6th scale and I plan to use it in an African themed room.

This was the latest Dasia sweater.  It's sold out.  It looks great with the red jeans (still available).

It also looks great with the lime jeans (still available).

Last but not least, I am on a crazy baking and cooking spree since Friday.  I've been inspired by the Great British Baking Show.  So I've started baking again.  This is my first ever homemade baguette.  It was delicious.

I also made some custard tarts.  They needed a little more time in the oven, but still tasted good.  This week I plan to tackle chocolate eclairs and a few other goodies.

  1. Vanessa, the house is coming along. Rod, Danielle and the kids will enjoy it. How did you create the bathroom sink? I love the modern look of the bowl. I have one myself that I'm saving for an apartment, but I'm not here yet. The faucet is so cool and I like that the placement keeps it from blocking the mirror.

Poor Rod, just painting his heart out. And the tires for the bed really are cool.

    1. Janainah - Please refer to this post to see what I used for the sink. Second picture down shows the dish. I used the top, turned it upside down and pushed it into a piece of foam board. The faucet is from an old Barbie set, I think. http://vansdolltreasures.blogspot.com/2012/02/im-never-taking-me-shopping-again.html

  2. Hey Vanessa I love the progress of the boys room especially the beds. ( I still need one or two). The drum is so cute! Can't wait to see your African room a Jamaican band would be nice too. When will they find out what they are having or are they going to wait?

    1. AG Lanc - Thanks. I am so on the fence about what they are having. And the thought of giving her twins is overwhelming when she already has two. We will have to wait a little longer.

  7. Wow, a wingback chair...I can't wait to see it. I've wanted a wingback chair for Jamal's office for the longest time. Danielle looks relaxed in that bath and the updates to the house are great.

    1. linda p - Welcome to my blog. Thanks so much for the glass tip! Rod was so excited to hear that. Congrats on getting a Dasia doll. Once they started selling, they went like hotcakes. Glad you like the outfits. It is so much fun sewing for her.

  9. Well you have been a busy little bee, haven't you! I love everything you are doing with the house. You are making me so want to get one of those houses. I love the bathroom and I think putting a table in the kitchen is a good idea with the size of their family. The boys room is just too adorable!

As for the baking, you made me hungry with those photos. I have been cooking healthier things for us at home -- trying to lose some weight. I have lost 6 pounds this month so far!

Your clothes for Dasia are always great. Great job as usual!

    1. Phyllis - Thanks! She will make the dining area upstairs more formal. Now she doesn't have to rush to get it done.

Congrats on the weight loss! Luckily I like baking things more than I like eating them or I would be in trouble. Everything I make gets shared with friends and family. That way I can enjoy the baking and they can enjoy the eating.

    1. Georgia Girl - Thanks! The amount of space in these houses is very impressive. Have you seen the new Barbie house that cost $200? It doesn't even compare to these houses.

  12. You have been very busy but as long as you are enjoying yourself (which you obviously are) it's great. Danielle is doing a wonderful job with the house and so is Rod - most men I know hate painting. And you are doing a wonderful job with the clothes and the baking. Looking forward to pictures of your eclairs.

    1. Carrickters - I am having a blast! My ex-husband loved painting and Rod is like his mini-me. Not in looks, but in his outdoorsiness (I know that is not a word.) I made puff pastry this morning for the first time ever. I'm looking forward to making the choux pastry for the eclairs.

    1. Brenova - Nothing like a relaxing bubble bath. With that play room done, she can enjoy more relaxing moments. She's a little upset that she won't be able to host Thanksgiving this year. Hopefully everything will be ready by Christmas.

  17. The rooms and clothes look so cute! If Danielle still wants more room in the boys room maybe she could get a bunk bed frame styled like a car lift. She could get one wide enough for both beds to slide in. Here's an example of what i'm talking about though the example is from a virtual game: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/BoOgErS-Dream-Car-Lift/5026398

    1. Leandra - Thanks! I love the idea of the double decker for the cars. I showed it to Danielle, and she shook her head. All she could see were both boys jumping off the second deck and getting hurt. The picture is very helpful. I may be able to come up with a safer design that she will consider. Thanks again!

    2. Leandra - I was able to come up with a different design that Danielle approved. Thanks so much for your help! As soon as she gets further along, she will show pictures. Make sure you come back to see.

    4. Also i didnt think of that.. Maybe Danielle should make a child safety book. I probably have things for my doll kids that my doll parents aren't happy about. :/ I'm glad she was able to think of a safer version though! ^^
