Country Estate Progress (Photostory)

Danielle's been a busy bee.  The house is not done, but she is making progress.  Rod and the boys are seeing the updates for the first time.

Danielle is explaining the pink kitchen to Rod.
"The markdown was just too good to walk away from.  It doesn't have to stay pink forever, but it allows us to move in quicker.  Not to mention with a new baby on the way, we will need the extra money."  (Danielle)

"How long before we can change the color?"  (Rod)
"Can you hang in there until after the baby comes?  The smell of paint fumes does not mix well with morning sickness."  (Danielle)
"Alright, alright."  (Rod)
"Let's go out on the patio.  I have something new out there for the boys."  (Danielle)

Danielle directs the boys to try out their new patio chairs that are just their size.  She takes a seat on a patio lounger.  She's excited about the chairs for the boys.  She will be able to watch them playing out there while she's in the kitchen.

"Alright, that's enough.  If we stay out here much longer, I'm going to fall asleep.  Help me up, please, so I can show you the rest of the house."  (Danielle)

"Yay!  Let's go see my room."  (Julian)

Much to Julian's dismay, Danielle starts in the living room.
"I got them to change out that checked floor and add in hardwood so the living room and the sitting room flows better.  I'm still fiddling with this room.  Not sure what it will be in the end, but I wanted to see if there was enough space for two sofas."  (Danielle)
"What happened to the idea of getting a sectional?"  (Rod)
"That's still on the table.  Like I said, I'm still fiddling.  Come see the dining room."  (Danielle)

"I'm testing out this translucent table.  It gives the appearance of more space.  I'm thinking of adding a more elegant table with parson chairs later.  For now this is the economical choice.  I'm also going to change out that wallpaper.  I know you aren't a fan of pink."  (Danielle)

"I like the table.  It might be nice to get a rectangle one in the future, so we can have larger family gatherings."  (Rod)
"I did think of that.  This table can seat eight."  (Danielle)

"Mom, can we go see my room, now?"  (Julian)
"Yes, but I have to warn you, it's not done.  I still have some work to do in there."  (Danielle)

They make their way to the third floor.  As you can see the new walls are up, but not wallpapered.  I also finally made Jacob's car bed yesterday.  I was planning to paint it the same red, but I think it will be interesting to have two different cars.  I laid the checked flooring this morning.

"Jacob's getting a car bed, too?"  (Julian)
"Yes.  Is that okay with you?"  (Danielle)
"Yeah.  That's cool.  We can race while we're sleeping."  (Julian)
"You are so silly."  (Danielle)
Julian climbs into his bed, and Jacob decides to follow suit.

"Oh no you don't.  That's not a good idea.  Let's wait until it's finished."  (Rod)

"I need to get this room finished next.  I'm gong shopping for wallpaper tomorrow.  I wish there was a little more space in here."  (Danielle)
"Why don't you turn them into bunkbeds?  They would have a lot more space to move around."  (Rod)
"I'll think about it.  Now are you ready to see our room?"  (Danielle)
"I'm going to stay here and rest mommy."  (Julian)
"Oh you are?  Okay."  (Danielle)

I'll show you the progress on the room before they get here.  She's ultimately going for a French inspired look.  I covered up the walls with beige and lilac.  I'm not finished with the beige.  I need to get one more piece of scrapbook paper.  Then tidy it up.  The nightstands will be different.  I just wanted to make sure I had space for two of them.  The green pillow is just a placeholder.  There will be some other colored pillows added.  That back wall may have fabric draped across the whole thing.  Lots still left to do, but happy with the progress.

Rod is taking it all in.

"I'm not finished, but do you like the direction I'm going?  Is it too feminine for you?"  (Danielle)
"No.  I like it.  It's serene and peaceful.  Just what you want a bedroom to be."  (Rod)

"What do you think of the new wrought iron bed?"  (Danielle)
"Jacob seems to like it.  I like it, too.  It doesn't squeak does it?"  (Rod)
"No.  I made sure I tested out the potential noise level."  (Danielle)
They both laugh.

"Hey pumpkin.  You decided to join us."  (Danielle)
"Yeah, it's no fun without my toys."  (Julian)
"You know we brought the lincoln logs for you and Jacob to play with.  They are still down in the kitchen.  Want me to go get them?"  (Danielle)
"Are we staying here long?"  (Julian)
"Not too long.  We'll have to leave to go get dinner soon."  (Danielle)
"I don't want to start playing then have to stop."  (Julian)
"Why don't we leave now and have an early dinner, then you guys can play after that?" (Rod)
They gather their things, lock up and head to dinner.  Rod makes sure he praises Danielle for the work she's done so far.

Here is a quick look at the boys room with the cars side by side.  Once we get the wallpaper installed, I think things will fall into place.

    1. Presto - Thanks. I'm so happy I got that second bed started. Been so long since I made the first one, I had to remake the pattern again. Couldn't find where I put my original.

  3. It's coming along nicely! Love the boys car beds...very cute. I really love the covered walls it doesn't have a glare like the kidkraft painted walls. Wow...super excited for them. How did you add more flooring to cover the elevator hole?

    1. Tracy - Thanks. If I had a detachable flash for my camera, I could avoid the glare on the walls. I may have to request one for Christmas. It would make my life a lot simpler. I didn't cover up the hole yet. It's in the nursery that we didn't get to see. I plan to cut a piece of wood the same thickness as the floor and attach it with heavy duty double sided construction tape. I don't want to install it permanently. If I did I would use wood glue.

  4. I love what's been done! I had no idea that the rooms were as big as they are. Seeing the furniture gives me a reference. Great job Danielle!!

    1. Brenova - Thanks. The room size is deceiving until you see it in person, or see how much furniture can fit. They really are better sized than the Mattel Barbie houses.

    1. Cindi - It will be nice to take her time and customize the rooms after they get all moved in. They need to hurry and move out of their old home that is being demolished as soon as they do.

  8. Danielle has excellent taste. The house will look great once she/you have finished with it. (And I'm sure Rod can live with a pink kitchen for a while.)

    1. Carrickters - Danielle says thanks. Rod probably won't be doing much cooking in the pink kitchen. Redoing the kitchen will be lots of fun. Danielle is not sure yet what color scheme the kitchen will be.

    1. My doll stuff - Thanks. As soon as I figure out what color to make her sectional, I will get started. I've been putting different sofas in there to test out colors. As soon as Danielle gets the boys room done, they can move in.

  10. Lookin' gooood! I think Rod is going to let Danielle set the pace for this reno. Don't want to tick off a pregnant lady.

Your ad script is still pushing out pop ups. The pop up covered my screen and said "This content requires Flash Update 13.6. Would you like to update it now? Install or Continue. You cant x out of it, as touching the x will launch a web browser that my security blocks. It also locks the window you were originally browsing on and I have to use the task manager to get rid of it.

    1. Thanks. It would behoove him not to piss off the pregnant lady.

Oh, I thought you were getting ad pop ups! Not sure why the Flash message is happening. I will rerun my Norton security, but beyond that I don't know what I can do.

    2. Muff - Are you running Norton Security? If you are they have a tool that is part of the package called Power Eraser that deals with Scamware, which is what appears to be on your computer. Even though your security is blocking it, chances are it's still on your computer. I just ran Norton, and there were only 2 low level issues found and resolved. I'm not having any computer issues on my end at all.

  11. I am loving the changes you (Danielle) have made on this house. I like the car beds side by side with the table in between. The room looks bigger that way. You are so tempting me to get this house! BTW, I get that Java popup too that Muff mentioned. I did run my security software and adware programs, but I still get it. I am able to get out of it without using the task manager to get out of it. Yours is the only blogger site that I have this problem with too. Not sure what else I can do here, but might ask my brother about it since he is a computer expert! If we figure it out, I will let you know.

    1. Phyllis - Thanks. And thanks for letting me know you are getting that message. I will check with one of my computer experts, too to see if there's something I can do on my end.

  12. I like the progress. Danielle is working hard.

By the way, I thought it was my computer with the Java issue, although it only happens on this site. Glad to see it is not me. I thought I needed a new computer.

  13. Muff, Phyllis and Janainah, - I just did a deeper cleanse on Norton. I was going to tell you guys to let me know if it works, but now I'm getting the Java message, too. I will contact support and see if I can figure out how to fix the problem.

  14. I am not getting the Java pop up anymore, so whatever you did, must have worked! You do need to restart blogger before testing (for anyone else having this problem).

    1. Roville - Thanks. Danielle just found a beautiful wallpaper (fabric) for one of the walls in the bedroom. She's in there now making changes. The room is looking a little girly. Lol.

    1. billa's dolls - I'm happy she's sensible, too. Often times people buy a new house then go deep in debt trying to furnish it.

  17. Very nice, Vanessa. You've got me eyeing my daughter's Kidkfraft house for one of my doll families. She never plays with it...so much wasted potential (sigh). She's going to come in the doll room one of these days and find a family of squatters in her majestic mansion- lol

    1. Jewell - Never plays with it? What are you and the dolly squatters waiting for. I'm down with the takeover. Wait. I've met your daughter and she's a sweetheart. Maybe if you ask nicely she will share her house.

      Delete
    2. Yes, she is a sweetheart. But she's also a seven year old, which means the minute I show interest in that doll house, she'll "remember" that it's her favorite thing in the world and she'll move her dolls right back in- lol

    3. Jewell - I'm sure you are right. I would never let my mom take over my doll mansion either, come to think of it.

  18. I'm with Rod.The soon that pink is gone the better. That red dress in the boys rooms looks a bit like a stand up tool chest.Cute.Makes the room look like a racing garage.

    1. Val - I won't tell you what Danielle said about your pink comment. Lol. Rod must have heard you because he's been in the garage the last couple days painting those cabinets. Unfortunately the new boys room is not big enough for that red chest if I put the cars side by side. I may have to make them something a little smaller.
