My Little Girl Scouts

My Mattel dolls arrived today, and I quickly found the perfect little girl scouts, Nicole and Jessica.

Here they are fully dressed in their uniforms.  They are holding their girl scout bags.  On one side is the girl scout website, and on the other side are five statements:  goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, business ethics.  I was never a girl scout, so I'm not sure what these represent.

Here the girls are selling their girl scout cookies.  Each set comes with three boxes of cookies.  There are thin mints, samoas, and trefoils.

Here is Girl Scout Barbie as packaged.  So glad to see the outfit is two separate pieces.  The shirt is a little big for the girls because they don't have breasts, but it will work for now.  If these ever go on clearance, I will probably get a few more.  I need an entire girl scout troop.

    1. Ag Lanc - Thanks. Georgia Girl says her Walmart has them on clearance. My Walmart didn't. Maybe it's coming.

  2. Oh how cute! You should have shown some your cookies too! Aren't the samoas called something different now? So you purchased 3 dolls? What will you do with the extra dolls?

    I'm suddenly hungry.

    1. Ms. Leo - Phyllis answered the question about the two different names. I purchased 4 dolls. Two girl scouts and two scientist. All 4 dolls are being donated away.

    2. They had some cranberry shortbread cookies that were to die for! Great that you donate dolls too.

  3. The girls look good. If you hadn't mentioned the shirt fit, I wouldn't have even noticed.

    1. Janainah - Thanks. That's why I pointed out the shirt fit. I didn't want someone to buy them thinking it was a perfect fit.

  4. Those look perfect on them. I started to buy a few of these two but then I changed my mind. I might do a muslin for little Brownies, will see.

    1. Brini - I've been wanting to make girl scout and brownie outfits for years. Never got around to it. I was thinking Mattel should have put out a 3 doll set with Barbie as den mother, Skipper as a girl scout and Shelly as a brownie. That would be a cute set.

  5. The uniforms look very cute on these girls. My daughter was a Girl Scout a long time ago now! The only thing about these uniforms is that they are not the official uniforms. They definitely never had pink uniforms! Ms. Leo, the Samoas are also called Carmel DeLights depending on which baker makes them. Samoas are made by Little Brownie Bakers and Carmel Delights are made by ABC Bakers. There are a couple other cookies that have 2 names for the same reason.

    1. Phyllis - Definitely not official uniforms, but oh so cute. Thanks for the cookie info. That's very interesting.

  6. Nicole and Jessica look cute as Girls Scouts. That's a good idea, having them wear the GS uniforms. The uniforms look better on them.

    1. D7ana - That was my first thought as soon as I saw the girl scout doll. How perfect that Mattel made the pants the perfect size for these dolls.

  7. They look very cute! I was a Brownie. I am not sure why my Mom didn't allow me to go further. Walmart has them on clearance for like $7.00 or $9.00.

    1. Georgia Girl - I would love to make/buy some little brownie outfits. That's been on my list a very long time. My Walmart still has these dolls are full price. I will keep my eyes open, though. I only paid $9.84 for these.

  8. Former Brownie here! I like your idea of giving this outfit to the girls, it looks so much better!

    1. Doll Crazy - I agree these dolls are more suited to the younger girls. I'm not sure why Mattel didn't put them out on a Skipper or Stacy doll. That would have made better sense.

  9. I was Brownie but the reason I didn't go further is Mom couldn't afford the uniforms and camp. Back in the 70's $3 for a pair of socks was expensive and she was a widow. I like how you put the outfits on the only hearts, makes me wonder if these outfits wouldn't work on my Momokos and the skippers!

    1. Lisa - Those things do get expensive. I think these uniforms would work on Skippers and Stacys. There is a lot of leeway with them being two separate pieces.

  11. I was a Brownie, a Junior, and a troop leader at various points throughout my life. :) The five statements are related to cookie sales. Goal setting and decision making, for example: the girls in your troop should work together to decide what they want to do with the money they earn from selling cookies. Then they figure out how much money they need to do their activity, and make that a goal of how many cookies they need to sell.

    1. Barb - Thanks so much for clearing up the 5 statements. I couldn't find it on their website.

  12. Nicole and Jessica are adorable in their uniforms. I was a girl scout many moons ago, and my uniform was never pink! LOL They definitely look better on the dolls. :-)

    1. Cindi - Thanks! Yeah, the pink uniforms may not have gone over too well. Maybe the Brownies would have enjoyed pink uniforms. Then they would have been called Pinkies. Lol.

  13. Nicole and Jessica look adorable in their Barbie colored Girl Scout uniforms. It would be wonderful if you could create an entire GS troop.

I was a GS for a year, but things have changed tremendously since then.

  15. This is ADORABLE!!! (Former Girl Scout here!) I was so focused on the sashes, I didn't notice how everything else was pink. Ok, so those are not official uniforms. But perhaps in Barbieland, they are!!!

  16. With the sash you can't even tell they are too big.

  17. Your dolls look really cute in their uniforms although I'm glad you commented on the colour - I did wonder. In Australia, we have Brownies and Girl Guides. We also have Scouts - which is for both girls and boys. And for the older ones we have Venturers. The Girl Guide uniform is blue and the Scout uniform is khaki - I guess it's the same in America.

    1. Carrickters - Always interesting to hear about the differences in the other countries. Your Girl Guide uniforms are the same color as our Cub Scouts, which is the little boys. Our Junior Girl Scouts (which is what you see the most of) wear green uniforms, similar to the color of the sash in the picture above. The Girl Scout Ambassadors wear khaki uniforms, but I personally have never seen them, Boy Scouts have khaki shirts and I think a army green pant.
