Touring Roberta's New Home

Sunni Chang, one of our resident Realtors, got a call today that the builders were finished with Roberta's new home.  She decided to drop by, after picking the girls up from daycare. She wants to make sure everything is in good working order.  Roberta is due to arrive in town in the next couple of days and Sunni wants her to be happy.

"Mommy, who lives here?"  (Ming)
"No one, yet.  We have to quickly stop and do a walk through of this new home.  It won't take long."  (Sunni)

"Mommy, I'm hungry."  (Ming)
"Okay.  Tell your tummy to hang in there.  I will give you a snack as soon as we get back in the car."  (Sunni)

"Okay, let me put this bag down and find the lights."  (Sunni)

She finds the lights then walks through the kitchen.

Ming has run ahead and found the bathroom.

"Come on Ming.  Let's go upstairs."  (Sunni)

As with most elevators in homes, this one is very small.
"Grab my hand.  We have to take a big step."  (Sunni)

"I think Ms. Roberta is really going to love this room."  (Sunni)

"Let's go up these stairs, Mommy."  (Ming)
"Okay.  I'm right behind you."  (Sunni)

"Mmmm? This chandelier seems kind of low.  I will have to check with the builders about this one."  (Sunni)
"Come on, Mommy!"  (Ming)

"It's so sunny!  Can we live here?"  (Ming)
"We already have a home, but I agree this one is really nice."  (Sunni)

"This will be a nice place for a garden."  (Sunni)

"Alright sweetie.  Let's go meet Daddy for dinner."  (Sunni)
"Will I still get my snack?"  (Sunni)
"Yes, but just a little one.  We don't want to ruin your appetite.

The KidKraft house was pretty easy to assemble.  It really takes two people, which I didn't have, so I had to get creative.  I love this house.  It's much bigger than I thought it would be.  This may not be my last KidKraft house.

  1. Nice home. I will bet Roberta is excited to be moving near her kids and grandkids. Can't wait to see the personal touches she puts in the home.

  3. Roberta will surely love her new home It is perfect for her. Are those dolls in the window of the last picture? That is a great shot! I bought a KidsCraft house at a thrift store and I have yet to do anything with it. I need to. It is taking up residence in my dining room. Lol! Hopefully this will motivate me. Your craft room project has motivated me to work on my doll room.

    1. Georgia Girl - Isn't it perfect for her? She is going to love being able to go out into the courtyard in the morning with a nice cup of coffee. I can't believe you have a house and you haven't done anything with it. I do understand though. I have lots of things I haven't done anything with either. Glad I can be motivational.

  4. Vanessa, if I could justify the expense, I would have at least 3 KidKraft houses. They have a number of models that I really like. The sturdy materials and easy instructions are a plus. This home has lots of potential. Great photos! Thanks for sharing.

    1. Jewell - I got this one from Zulily at a greatly reduced price. Are you familiar with Zulily? Out of about 8 houses available at the time, this was the one I felt could work.

  5. This is so freaking cool! I see houses like that in TRU and they are like all wood and really tall and look so neat. I cant handle the cost though or the space it would take up... one day.

    1. Muff - The inside has more room than I thought it would. I've already picked out my next house. It has a garage and everything. The good thing is these are only 3 sided houses, so they can be up against a wall and you don't feel like you are losing out on part of the house. This isn't the case with the Mattel houses. Not to mention you don't get the great details like you do in these houses. Much less effort to make the scenes look realistic in these houses. You can check out all the KidKraft houses at KidKraft.com. You can find them less than retail with a good search. Zulily will occasionally have an event with a nice selection of houses.

    1. Brini - Did you see any houses at KidKraft that you like? There are at least 3 that would work in my town. I still have to make room in the basement for this one. Right now, it's sitting in the middle of my craft room.

    1. billa's dolls - It's much roomier than I expected. I even started thinking of ways to make it bigger. If I took out the stairs I would have a lot more room. Even removing the elevator would add additional space, but that is staying.

    1. Ms. Leo - It has just the right amount of pink. The blues and golds make it the perfect "mature" woman home.
